Majority I see tank in 5 Light/2 Heavy....Zeni Light armor being even comparable to heavy for Tanking is a joke. Pull the head out the rear :P

I don't know what any of that means lol
But up till today I used all parts heavy.
Now I gave into fashion and swapped out my chest piece for a robe, so 6 heavy and 1 light lol

EDIT: Even with that off I am pushing 2900HP and 1600 armour- which gets boosted by razor armour (1250 for 20 secs approx, + 1250 again for teh first 3 seconds) and stone giant (+600 8 seconds) then the jab attack for 1h+s which weakens the enemy attack....
Its not too hard to tank. And even then I still have absorb magic and green dragon blood slotted in.
At around 1900 armour I am soft capping though lol
    HP is not soft capping.

The best defense is offense :D, I wish I could play naked & kill people before having to tank them.

What if your sorc tanks in light with buffs and your DK tanks in Heavy and light?

This poll won't be very useful because the issue isn't what people tank any content with, it's what the most optimal setup is for relevant, end-game content, and that is unarguably 7 light.

With 1.3 I've switched to 5 heavy/2 light as a test. I haven't tanked anything yet, but I'm sure I'll be fine. That doesn't mean that 7 light isn't just better.

With 5 pieces of heavy armor I have about 2k armor unbuffed. This is well blow the hard cap. With my buff, I have about 3k armor. This is well above the hard cap. I'm wasting a lot of armor for really no reason other than to look cooler.

Exactly why it is theoretically possible for someone in light armour to tank...

Personally I like that approach, because it means you can wear what you like and still do the roll you know.

People can always ware what they like, the problem is that it's not optimal for their role and that can cause problems in some content. So if you want to participate in said end game content, you actually have less choice.

Depends on the difficulty of the dungeon. I'm comfortable wearing heavy armor and taking less damage while the rest of the kids on the team get to work...Sadly, most of the same kids don't know what they're doing.

Because blocking is your primary source of mitigation, and because many classes have armor buffs that will add 1.5-2k armor and are easy to keep up or stay up indefinitely.

I tank in all 3 types of armor. I always wear 7/7 of whatever type I use for my character.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Magicka+Spell Crit based Siphoning NB tank. 5light/2 heavy reinforced in legs and chest + 600 Armor necklace, I get around 2400 armor.I manged to do all vet dungeons except COH(didn't try yet) with it as a tank. The idea is to leach so much life back that i do not need constant healing and crit so much that I can get my ultimate VOB out a lot for a lot of mitigation add to that a resto with quick siphon, and my shades and I do not really need more mitigation.

7 Heavy on my NB, but 7 Medium on my Templar. Of the 2 my Templar is the faaaar better Tank.

None. Because Females in steel bikinis have higher armor value than Males in full plate. So, I figure Nekkid would be Epic Armor, amiright?
