Game crashes on loading after patch (Error 11)

After patching 4 GB for 2 hours, now the client crashes while loading and showing a message "eso encountered a fatal error. (Error 11)".

Repair does not change a thing. Restarting PC does not work either.

Edit: Giving admin rights to launcher and gameclient didn't work either.

I'm pissed - to say the least.

Update 14:07 CEST:

Got a phonecall from support. An employee which spoke nearly no german tried to work off a checklist he had in front of him with the usuals crap (restarting game, restarting launcher, giving admin rights, blah blub ...). His final advice was to re-install the game. At this point I went through the roof because re-installing would mean over 18 hours of downloading while using the WHOLE bandwith I have atm. I then demanded that my ticket will be escalated to the next level of support.

Subscription cancelled due to the following facts:

- Zenimax implements more bugs from patch to patch
- Zenimax does not care about the increasing instability of the game. People have more and more crashes Fix of memory bug decreased number of crashes considerably
- Zenimax has still not fully fixed the fps drops they (!) implemented with patch1.2.3
- Zenimax does nothing to fix the massive ability lags in PvP
- Zenimax gives more attention to unnecassary 'content' like dyes for armors than fixing issues
- In patchnotes Zenimax lies about bugs allegedly fixed
- Zenimax has no plan as to how balance population in Cyrodiil campaigns
- Support is ineffective and does not even speak in a way one can linguistically understand

    My guess is they did something that only screws with a small portion of people, not gonna reinstall because knowing my luck it won't do anything except waste three days of my life.

    I used to get this error with Add-Ons after a major patch like U3, try deleting add-ons and then try again, hope it fixes out soon.

    This is the first info which could actually be usefull. I'll try it out soon and give feedback after.

    Edit: It did not work. I deleted all addons and saved variables, but it didn't change a thing. Client still crashing during load.

    Same here, in cancelling untill this is fixed within a reasonable manner, i refuse to download the whole thing again, i expect them to fix this

    I used a second installation on another PC, copied it to my gaming PC and updated it for some hours now. To my surprise it's running now. Well, at least for some minutes, because in 20 minutes ingame the game crashed twice. And all guilds are deactivated, which was a shock too.

    Certainly Zenimax has now proven to all of us that they are totally inept to develop and host a MMORPG of this dimension. I now feel even stronger reminded of funcom and it's catastrophically failing 'Age of Conan' in 2008.

    Ok, back from playing in traffic.

    Morticielle, how old is your computer? If it's older than 2004, REPLACE IT!

    Also, try not to play at work or during a thunderstorm, as those tend to cause several crashes.

    In addition, I'd recommend you not play on a laptop, because those things have such slow internet i'd rather use a full computer than carry a portable laptop. Sure, the computer i have isn't exactly portable, but it's more stable than a laptop.

    I have been fortunate to never have these issues, but it might be good for the launcher to back up changed files.

    as for your issue, first back up your current folder, in case a fix comes up.

    -next, open your ESO main folder (right-click on icon, click on "open file location".
    -next hit "ctrl-f" to run a search. search for "*.*" (that's asterisk-dot-asterisk) all files in the folder will show up.
    -next up, sort files by date once the search completes.
    -look for all files changed on patch day. highlight them all and delete. (REMINDER-BACK UP FOLDER FIRST)
    -start the launcher and run repair if it does not on it's own.

    I am NOT a zeni employee, just saying this as a long-time IT. these patchers look for changed or missing files and replaces them with server-ready files. give this a shot.

    if the launcher fails to launch after deleting, copy "Bethesda.net_launcher.exe" from your cleverly-made backup into the folder and try again.

    please post results.

    Great work around patrick_g_asselinb16_ESO!!!

    worked a treat for me never had issues connecting before and even a few days after the patch

    however went to load yesterday and got the "metafile error" so repaired etc, then on load up crash every time with the error 11

    followed your fix and straight in
