Ah, that makes sense. Thx for the info.

I think it's far better than dye systems in previous games, but even though I voted for "perfect", I suppose the shield & weapon dyeing would be a nice addition.

I think the Dye system is great however, ESO dropped the ball by not including the Quiver and Shield. How much harder would it of been to do that. If you are going to do something don't do it half arse.

I'm pretty sure that they've mentioned shield dying being on the 'to-do' list. It would certainly make sense to dye them.

I really like the idea but I don't like that Tamriel now looks like an ugly color bomb went off. It breaks the immersion for me...

I rather like the refreshing splashes of colour - players look more individual now. I can still remember getting a nice robe from a quest and everyone around me all wearing the same one! At least now we can look different while wearing the same stuff! :)

    There seems to be a number of issues that people are bringing up about the dye system as is;
    • The dyes are a 'wash' - that is, the dyed item is not dyed to the colour picked but to the colour of the dye washed over the original colour. To me this is somewhat realistic but to others it seems to be a fault.
    • There is no option to dye a shield and this seems to be a required option for some.
    • There is no weapon dye option and this seems to be wanted by some.
    • There has been some negative reaction to the garish results the dye system allows! Maybe (just maybe) some of the dyes need to be toned down. I suspect this to be something of a bone of 'contention'! (I'm not bothered either way!).

The list is sourced mainly from reading various threads on the forums and seeing dyes and dyed outfits in game.

On the whole I think the dye system is OK as is - for now!

    It is a complete failure.
I have seen several "creations" and I would welcome setting to see all players in some default gear. For example let me see all altmers in some default altmer gear and with no disguise!

I don't really care if people want to make their characters to look the way they want, but I want to have a chance to see the world around me the way I want...

I am not a programmer, but I believe it should be possible to make. In old Half-Life if you had custom model in MP and your opponent did not, he saw you simply as Gordon Freeman...

    I would love this option.

It'd be great to have an option to switch from matte to gloss, got some good colours but they look awful in high gloss on my leather gear

To this you can add some colours not rendering at all and giving you the default colour

Voted quite good but needs tweaks

tweaks being untying it from achievements. This isn't that type of game, don't starting making it one. Otherwise, love them :)

Despite making a post about how awful it was, I am a bit happier seeing the dyes on armor that is not barbaric. That set's dyes need to be fixed, though.

And while it still irks me that a trials achievement gives the only pure white, the lightly grey whites kind of work.

Also, I'm hoping I get to keep the dyes that I'm not supposed to have. ^__^

I only played a little with the dye system, and am liking the results I'm getting.

The only thing I'm hesitant about is the link with achievements, which will most likely cause me to never unlock many colours - due to my very casual solo gameplay.

Yeah really the improvements that are needed are dying the shield (not weapons though - just shield) and making the colors more "true" on some armors. You apply the same color to various armors and the results aren't the same. They should be.

But other than that it's done well.

Just need to be able to dye my weapons. The default blue doesnt match my black and purple color scheme. Other than that I'm very happy with it.

One of the best dye implementations I have seen in a MMO. I really like the colors opening based on achievments vs luck of the drop that leads so often to bots/gold sellers and buyers. Dye stations easy enough, no cost, and rewarded for game play is nice. As to the actual colors, well people of course will always have different views of that based on their own likes/dislikes. I can see a certain number of people used to crafting dyes in other MMOs not liking the system as it hits their bank. Thumbs up to ESO from me on this way

I like the dye system, but as many others have stated, some of the dyes don't appear as well on some armors. For example, my Altmer currently has a set of robes that are naturally a brown tone. I attempted to change them to purple, but the brown still bleeds through, and it's not as pleasant to look at. Now another section of the robes I changed to a green and it looked lovely.

Someone mentioned the quality of the dyes? Where common dyes "bleed through" more than rarer dyes do? Is this true or is it just the type of armor? Overall I'm enjoying it so far :).

It is really awesome, I've spent hours designing my armor yesterday^^
However, like everything comes with Zeni, it's also bugged. A lot of people have dyes unlocked for achievements they never got. Even better, a lot of achievements are bugged and do NOT backtrack so we don't have them even while we are suppoed to.

And it definitely, absolutely and totally needs to be spread to weapons and shields. I am running around in red-gold armor atm with a bright green staff-.- Not fun.

Also, colour preview would be nice to have - so I could actually see which colours I'm missing out on and decide if I want to spend hours getting that one achievement^^

I found you have to play with different dyes to get the color or shade you want, but that's to be expected. Fixing the broken achievements needed to get some dyes should be priority #1. Then we can worry about getting shields and weapons dyable. Other than that, the dye system works better then I had hoped.

    We need more colors, obviously.

Also it would be nice to have a dye remover that gives all your armor a neutral base color (such as an off white) from which you can add your dyes.

I would have rather seen achievement points used as a resource to buy the dyes I want instead, with the cost varying by how 'rare' they are now

It is pretty bad, but there are some good things about it.
I wanted to vote blue but it needs A LOT of TWEAKS not just a few. I do like it tho and its the major update that i was excited for.

    1. The mediums dont tint properly.
    2. Most items in my inv. properly show they are tinted BUT some improperly DO NOT show they are tinted after i just dyed them.
    3. The UI is bad (but usable).
    4. Dyes are TIED to ach. & ach are bugged for me. Lots of basic colors are missing with all the ach's.
    5. If Dyes are tied to Ach. we should not need to be jack of all trades ... One should not need to be the best PVP'r, crafter and dungeon PVE'r to get all colors is my feelings. Maybe have the same basic color with a diff name for the three general ach. types. I think if someone excels in one those area's they should be able to get all colors with appropriate variations.
    6. shields and weapons should be added.

These are some things i thought of in the span of a couple of minutes.

I do like the idea a lot and i have made some very nice dyed armor sets but its hit and miss at this time, It does show a lot of promise for the future tho.

Unless i use black or white which have no COLOR, my RARE dyes bleed too much of the initial color thru especially with medium armors. Maybe add an option check box for the item 'Replace' which would replace the original color.

PvP is just a small part of the game and the few dyes/achievements reflect that.
