Preface
I play a dedicated DK Tank. I play Sword and Board with all Heavy Armor and I've been mainly a Stamina Build tank since day one. I have soloed a majority of the games PvE content up to Vet level 12. My play-style has been pretty consistent and I thrive on my own survivability. I've completed all of the normal dungeons and a few of the Vet Dungeons. The Vet Dungeons have forced me to adjust my play-style some because a Stamina Build just does not
'cut the mustard' for some boss fights. These adjustments have been a great learning tool for me and I strive to adapt and adjust my play-style to be successful in Vet Dungeons.
I have used a self-crafted Epic set of armor since Vet level 4, intent on making it my last set of armor I used and crafted for myself until Vet level 12. During my progression from from Vet4 to Vet12 I have carefully considered my current build, what I have learned, and what I am going to have to do in order to be successful at Vet 12 and end-game content.
I enjoy playing a dedicated tank and while I do not have a significant amount of DPS, I have the survivability to be able to solo well enough in PvE content.
The Dilemma
My dilemma comes in what lies upon the road ahead. Specifically Vet 10+ content including Trials and beyond.
Increasingly, I'm having to rely more and more upon Magicka based skills and abilities. My current spread for my main stats are spread evenly and I'm finding that I need more Magicka. I know I am going to have to respec my main stats at some point.
I'm also reading (on these forums) about Trials needing a lot of DPS. I see quite a bit of mention about DK's using a staff and light armor and maximizing their builds to pump out massive amounts of damage.
Beyond that, during my roamings in Craglorn, I see so many individuals looking for people for Trial runs but they demand that those who want to go have a staff and light armor and be able to pump out that DPS.
The Questions- If I want to be able to complete Trials, am I as a DK going to be required to become DPS or is there a place in Trials for a dedicated tank?
- If I can still be a DK Tank, what spec/skills might I be looking into, to ensure I am a SUCCESSFUL DK tank post-Vet 12?
- What mix of armor should I be wearing as a DK Tank, who wants to be successful as a tank? Can you recommend a specific crafted set with bonuses, various traits, and glyphs for the armor?
Any and all comments are welcome. If I can provide any more information about my current build, please ask and I'll reply in the thread.
I'm really looking to become a good DK Tank. I may not be the best, but I'm willing to learn what I need to learn in order to become one.
If I have to switch to DPS in order to even go into trials, I'm not sure what I'll do.
