Not digging the new campaigns

Now that the new campaigns have been introduced, we suddenly have a large number of players wanting to PvP and a small number of campaigns. This means that fairly soon the campaigns are all going to get crowded and will constantly have large numbers of players on them. This is effectively taking Cyrodiil away from players who go there for PvE and players who enjoyed smaller scale PvP.

Because of the fact that there will be people swarming Cyrodiil at all times, PvE is going to be very hard to do without getting slaughtered by a group of enemy players fairly quickly, unless you're all the way back near your alliance's gates, but even then the possibility is still there. It's going to be nigh impossible to complete PvE quests in areas near your enemies' gates, even if your alliance has somehow managed to push that far, thanks to the huge number of enemy players running around.

Onto the other group, players who prefer small scale PvP. Because there are so few campaigns now, they are going to get pretty crowded. The large number of campaigns we had before the update allowed us to join in on small or large scale PvP. More people means slower performance, more crashes, more zerging and less strategy. People wanted an end to zerging being the only way of getting anywhere, and ZOS are only amplifying it.

However, I will say that there is one thing I like about the new campaigns, at that is the non-veteran campaign, as it's virtually impossible for anyone who's not V12 to get anywhere in PvP.

I think this poll shows that players much prefer the longer campaigns; the seven day campaigns are just going to be hideous messes of zerging that involve bugger all strategy.

Well, I don't think ZOS ever intended to have any dead campaigns. PvP in this game is supposed to be very large scale - if you want small skirmishes, there are plenty of other titles to choose from. Perhaps they'll introduce some kind of dueling/arena/w/e in the future (I hope not), but until then, the idea is a massive war. As to PvE, well, every other zone in TESO is for PvE. Plus, the PvE in Cyrodiil is very small. Most of the quests after the first few are just repeatable.

Small scale is not the same as dead. I played on EU Wabbajack, where there weren't sieges going on literally all the time, but they were fairly frequent, and you never saw fewer than 20-25 people on each side, which was enough to cause some lag as soon as one side got through an outer wall. There was large scale PvP in Auriel's Bow and Bloodthorn before, and the other campaigns for smaller scale PvP, now there's only large scale PvP. There's no point in forcing players who want to do small scale PvP into large scale PvP or out of PvP entirely.

Well this isnt true. Last night during primtime on the east coast, Thornblade was the only locked server. Chillrend I think had AD pop at two bars. all the rest of the servers showd 1 bar pop for all factions. I had guild members in que on thornblade up into the 60's. I believe most of the population rushed to thornblade. I think ZOS thought having shorter campaigns that give rewards more frequently was going to be inviting, but it turns out its not.

I imagine they'll introduce smaller PvP zones in the near future. Cyrodiil, by design, is almost exclusively for large scale combat. Will those who enjoy small scale PvP have left by the time combat that suits them is introduced? Seems like it could happen unless ZOS directly address this issue and assure players that a small scale PvP zone is coming. Maybe the Imperial City can tie you over until then?

    As for PvE: no.

After a month of not playing PvP I went in last night on Thornblade to see if it'd changed. I go to the DC front to defend a keep, I get rolled over when the wall goes down by an Impulse zerg with Immovable. I go to the AD front, our siege gets routed by an Impulse zerg with Immovable.
I was hoping large-scale PvP had changed, but I guess not... I hope it does, it used to be great fun.
I'm a man of few words. Any questions?

There were a ton of small-scale skirmishes on wabba.

You need to go afield and either try to intercept people and groups trying to join the main force, or join groups heading to claim or reclaim resources or keeps behind the lines.

even in the main lines, there are scores of smaller actions on the flanks. Its risky, but high-paced and I find it rewarding. (until the impulse group runs around the corner and slams into you <g>).

the "best players"(as in the ones who make impulse zergs) all go to thornblade from what iv experienced. the other 4 are one sided(though I hear chillrend is actually a little competitive, I will try it tomorrow) the non-vet is fun, but all the guards are VR5...... which makes no sense and makes taking ANYTHING very frustrating. they should lower the guard levels to 50 for the non-vet campaign. once the population gets more spread out, it will be much better

And it's also forcing all the bads onto 1 server. You get groups upon groups that have no idea how to listen and just run off doing their own thing, effectively crippling any attempt to achieve objectives.

It's like trying to herd ADD-riddled cats with other ADD-stricken cats.

    Not a fan at all.
