Hello all,
Yes that's right, patch 1.3 came out, and I'm loving it, well, the dye anyways.
Onto more pressing matters... The Guild Trader. Is it just me or does this actually seem like an Auction House? What it all comes down to is; no matter how you look at it, it is. You search for items other players are selling, and you sell off items to other players.
But wait! There's a tricky little catch to this! You have to be in a guild with 10+ members in order to SELL items to this Auction House.
This would be fine and dandy, however the further the game gets into development, ZOS seems to keep adding little small bits and pieces, and trying to pass it off as, "It's not a Auction House, and we definitely don't want one, but here you go...".
Basically I'm looking at the Guild Traders, and while a nice addition it is to be able to buy other players, it's nothing more than a broken Auction Housing system, forcing players yet again, to join a guild, or grab a crutch, because you're crippled.
Why do I say crippled? Well, let's think about it for a moment. Players before hand only used to sell products within one's guild, and suddenly out of no where, they're able to sell their products to everyone, while it doesn't work the same way backwards having everyone else to sell off products the same way without joining a guild, or having 10+ members in their own.
The system pretty much cripples anyone who doesn't have a giant guild, and or doesn't wish to be a part of one, because we're now spamming chat just like before, however, it can't be advertised, or looked at in the entire server over the various maps/factions.
How is this system fair in any which way? Allowing bigger guilds playerbase to have an unfair benefit to amassing more gold?
Again, we all know what this so called "Guild trader" system really is. It follows an old saying, "A polished turd, is still a turd", or any other quotes that relate.
Why don't you stop crippling people, and just add in the full Auction house already. Giving bits and pieces to others is starting to get annoying.

✭They cant afford to not having some kind of AH , so this is their answer ... for now.

Im in a trade guild with more than ten people, so I can sell my items at a trader that another guild has ownership of? I guess I didnt think id beable to sell if I werent in the guild that controlled the trader. To me, thats beneficial. Also, im confused about the guild roster stipulation. Why ten people? Why not 7? Are there guilds that have less than ten people? Maybe if you just wanted a guild for a couple of real life friends or something. Why exclude those people? There must be a reason but I have no idea what it is.
I think this is just the gradual process of them reneging on the no ah policy? Its like when I was little, and my parents would make some stiff rule about something, then realize they were being kinda harsh, but they couldnt just completely reverse their position, or theyd appear weak. So theyd throw in arbitrary quid pro quos like " well, ok...you can go see bonestorm bloodbath 3...but you have to be home within 17 minutes after it ends. And you cant watch the previews. And you can buy raisinettes, but none of that taffy rope stuff or any form of hard candy!!" Then the next time I wanted to see something, they proved they werent caving in, so it was ok.
Um anyway...im guessing well have an ah at some point

✭They chose not to have an auction house for more reasons than simply the server strain of handling so many transactions at once. Yes, it is feasible and possible. It's just the the developers intended something different.
But this debate has been had more often than I can count. I admit that there are MANY good reasons against a server-wide auction house, and fully support ZOS keeping markets to smaller systems.Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.2 -

It's a very crippled auction house with a horrible UI. (Being, that you have to travel from merchant or merchant to find what you want, and manually keep track of the best price you've found). And unlikely to actually solve the problem.

Since the designer team is more focused imposing PvP into PvE areas now, Housing is another missing mmorpg standard feature that -at this pace- will take forever to be released.1 -

✭Don't think of the Guild Traders as mini-AHs, think of them as a physical storefront guilds can rent.
