Once More Into The Fray

I played for the first month of release and closed up shop. Game was 'ok' but not impressive. Bugs, quirks, oddities. Oh, and outside the game, their entire system seems archaic compared to other MMO account systems.

Well, having read about the next patch I thought I'd give it another play through. Went from level 1 to level 10 yesterday.

Was a lot of fun. I like the look of the world. Like the variety in appearance that everyone has or can develop. Npc or player.

Being an explorer type I don't like the map. A fog of war would be nice so I can easily see where I have explored and have yet to explore.

Is it just the dominion I have joined this time or they change something? Seems like an awful lot of chests to loot everywhere. Sometimes just a few feet apart! That wasn't the case at release (at least in the other two dominions). This time I am on the Summerset Isles adventuring amongst the kitties.

So, a question. Does the game get tougher? Is crafting going to be relevant? Level 1 to 10 and pretty much did so wearing mostly the gear I got at levels 1, 2 or 3. No potions. No enchants. Just me and my bow or my twin swords.

It was enjoyable, don't get me wrong. But I need to know if any of that is going to be relevant. Or else I'll be wasting skill points on crafting trees that will never amount to anything in combat/adventuring.

Now if I can just stay away from the quests this evening so I can just explore and gather materials for crafting. LOL

Crafting is one of the most important things in the game, to make the best gear or improve dropped gear, or sell valuable mats.
The game gets much harder as you progress, VR content has been nerfed slightly but it's still more challenging than 1-50.

Crafting is wildly relevant. There is very little you'll get from quests or drops that will be good as or better than what can be crafted. Enchanting is a pain in the butt to level but still nice.

The game isn't exactly what you'd call 'hard' but it can be challenging at times. Some of the delves are harder than others and the end boss, when not being farmed, can be fun.

Over all, this is a much better game today than it was upon release.

Exploring is a fun way to quest because you'll happen upon people that need your help who you would not otherwise come across were you to simply follow the main zone story line.

Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

Crafting is very very important, possibly the biggest way to make/save money + the better crafter the more different types of powerful set bonuses you can make. Also there is an addon you can download that will give you the fog of war effect for ESO. Haven't tried it personally but one exists.

Not a fan of addons but a Fog of War just might tempt me, thanks for the heads up on that.

Yea, I know crafting is a big deal. But it appears out of sync with the speed of one's leveling or ability to level. Crafting level 2 gear at level 8 doesn't really make it worth donning. Crafting level 5 gear at level 15 isn't going to be helpful. See what I mean?

Might craft some stuff for alts, but then, I don't plan on having any.

Just seems in order for the crafting to be relevant one must put the brakes on leveling/questing.

You're coming back now after having not played since April/May? Good Lord... the size of the patch you're going to have to download/install is gonna be HUGE... :(
I'm a man of few words. Any questions?

I've always managed to level crafting ahead of the character's need. Mostly because I leveled 3 main toons and shared drops among them.

There's 9 ranks of crafting, first is like 1-10 then 12-22, and so on and this is per 1 skill point added. It's very easy to stay with your crafting. Deconstruct all your gear, especially intricate trait gear that you find, You'll level your crafting very fast doing this. Leaving you to only have to put 1 skill point in when your of level for the next 10 or so slots.

There comes a point in an MMO where you don't patch the game, but uninstall it and redownload the client as redownloading ends up faster and easier than going through every single patch.

Lord_Draevan - Three hours. That long? LOL To me it is. I get a lot of games off steam and it blazes. I play WOW as well (no trolling!) and they have a good system in place for updating (though that wasn't true in the beginning).

Ok, well, like I said, if I can stay off the quests this evening I'll work crafting. Need to, appears no chest or quest reward is ever medium armor :(
