I've been gone for a while and I'm thinking about returning. Any changes I need to be aware of?

I just came back myself, expecting/hoping things to have improved. They haven't.

Still the same issues, new issues and the same aggravating "WHY?" issues. Nothing has changed other than super crippling lag in PVP and massive lag spikes on the EU server since the move.

I wanted to give it a shot again now that I'm over the "this isn't really an ES game", but it's not worth it imo.

Oh and a lot has changed. Has the reason your friend stopped playing changed, or that you stopped? I don't know. I would wait for new zones or justice system. Until then the only changes are Gear Treadmill and Nerfs.

Honest opinion, I would say no. I'm only still here because of a 6-month subscription where I still have 90+ days left. I'm making the best of my time while it lasts, but once it's over I am gone.

Imho lags are less after EU server moved. Or it could only be my imagination.

Anyway I did subbed last month only to get pi**ed off again about the worst combat system out there. I am serious, all this block and dodge stuff is useless in the world of aoe madness.

I tried chivalry or what is the name and that game is ultimately supperior to ESO.

Only a fool is going to pay montly sub for pvp garbage like ESO currently is.
If you quit and consider coming back... I say keep you cash and buy some other game. This is not worth it unfortunately.

I would bet my shoes that ESO would attract much more people if it had true ES combat system including skill system.

It is not your imagination. You can check resource monitor. My connection went from a constant 180-300ms lag to a constant 15ms-30 ms lag. the connection is literally 10 times better.

On topic, I came back, and was pleasantly surprised with the light polish this game has gotten since launch. Guild store optimization, new color palette, complete EU server migration, and the frame rate issue has gotten MUCH better.

Why do you grind vet lvl? Seek for some guildmates and do the quests together its 1000 times more fun than boss grinding in craglorn.

It depends on why you unsubbed before.

If you are returning because of all the stuff ZOS said in the QuakeCon panel, it's not all in yet and won't be for several months.

If you let us know why you unsubbed, we can tell you whether or not your issue has been resolved. Otherwise all you are going to get are other people's whining about what they think is still wrong with the game.

The grind hasn't been fixed yet. They are improving Veteran ranks in three phases. The first phase already hit. By the time the final phase hits, Veteran will change over to the Champion system.

I would suggest starting a new alt with a different playstyle. Keeps the game fresh.(i have three

)

Also, today's patch intorduces a new cyrodiil campaign(among others) that is reserved for non-veteran players, which means you don't need to grind to vet12 before having fun in there.

From what I gather they are not taking out Vet Content but they are adding the Champion system to compliment it. So you will get more passives and become stronger by getting the Champion XP but as you gain that you will also get Vet XP and go up in vet ranks.

Also the Vet levels have been nerfed to be soloable. So no more forced grouping for the other 2 factions.

no we didn't. They fixed some not working passives, but half our stuff is still broken.

I love my nightblade, but we are still fairly broken, and I definitely haven't noticed getting a lot stronger lol

this is wrong. they are keeping golds and silver but actual vet levels will be removed and converted to champion levels.

If you lived through that debacle called early release and maybe the first month, then everything has changed since then.

Game is wonderful compared to the early days.

If you left last week, and are coming back... meh, welcome back and nothing has changed.

Quests work mostly now. Rarely have to reset to get though one.

Pvp is great.

Game is pretty.

What? It's always been soloable except for for a handful of world bosses depending on your class. I had no issues soloing anchors and most world bosses + all quests on my Nightblade and dragon knight, both of which completed Cadwell silver and my dk finished gold before the nerf, nb almost was done but got nerfed before finishing.

Hm i was able to kill vet 8 and 9 ppl with my vet 1 nightblade so i had a different impression. But i started this character after the nb buffs and dk nerfs because my dk got boring over time

so i cant compare the before and after.
+ my death report shows more and more nightblades that just killed me in 2 seconds so i might be wrong but it pretty seems like nbs got a lot stronger.

Yes there are a lot of broken passives, skills but youre not alone the other classes have broken skills and passives too.

Not much has changed... people still feel entitled and cry about non sense that has no actual bearing. People still cry that they don't have the 100% sure I win attack, and have to occasionally use their own skills.

And then there are the masses of people who play without issue and thus the positive aspects are never brought to light..

Seriously tho.. Yes.. many changes for the better.... some for the worse.. some much worse IMHO.. I have never really suffered from all of these NB,DK, OP this and not working that issues so I can not speak to them. I have tried to understand what everyone complains is broken but... Stuff just dies too darn fast for me to notice if I hit for Triple super hidden critical strike or something else.
They did tweak on the few attacks and odd items that were OP in pvp.. which brought much tears from those who lack actual skill and need OP and FOTM crutches too start with.. Some of the tweaks were OVER tweaks and some were fixing broken skills.

If you got the 15 bucks then sub back up for the patch and formulate your own opinion..

I've played since Beta and have always loved the game. I would suggest that you plunk down $15 for a month, come in with a fresh approach, start a new character, take your time exploring, crafting, joining a guild with people who are supportive and friendly.
As long as you let your imagination play with the stories and the beautiful world you will have fun.
I hope you do return, and if you do, welcome back!

I already did kind of come back. I have about 100 days left. (Bought the 180 day plan) May not have been a long time, but I did play the hell out of this game.

I do not think they scraping the vet ranks they are changing the system by enhancing the vet levels. They will always be vet levels but we not have a champion system to help improve gameplay.

Don't. The game is still just as buggy and broken as it ever was, except now they've added MORE grindy veteran content. Update 3 is just cosmetic changes. Wait until the justice system and other large updates roll out, then it will be worth playing again (in a year or so).

Oh, and they also ruined sieges in PvP by putting in an AOE cap, causing people to only break down 1 segment of wall and charge in as a group, fitting as many people into a small area as possible to avoid getting damaged by more than a couple of AOEs.

I do not think they scraping the vet ranks they are changing the system by enhancing the vet levels. They will always be vet levels but we not have a champion system to help improve gameplay.

They are scrapping the vet ranks and replacing them with the champion lvls with armor not having a champ lvl requirement. This is how it was explained at QuakeCon and later confirmed in one of the dev posts in these forums.

I love the game and it has been the first MMO in 5+ years that I see myself playing long term.

You left the game because you had issues, and I fear most of your issues will still be around. If you plan on only trying ESO once more I would recommend waiting a few more months until after the Console release. I expect this will happen once some of the more major changes to ESO occurs and you will see the biggest difference in ESO.

ESO still has great potential, but still needs a lot of work.
1: Balancing of abilities and stamina/magicka scaling.
2: Champion System will add spice.
3: Justice System will add depth.
4: Veteran quest content and storyline needs to be changed as I do not want to save an alliance I am at war with. Make it more about saving the people of that alliance from Evil (Undead, daedra, bandits, etc) and stop making us saving the enemy
5: Add spice to PvP as the current form is not enough. Needs to be some competitiveness added.

The above will go a long way to make ESO better and I expect some of it to be addressed within then next 6 months. If it does survive that long it will only get better and gain popularity.
