What I would have preferred over dyes being tied to achievements...

G'day guys,

I would have liked achievement points be treated as a recourse and spent on dyes, with the more sort after/rarer dyes being more expensive.
This way people who don't have the time/ability to get their favorite dye can still choose the ones they really want.

What do you think?

not the worst idea, only thing is once u get the 3 dyes u want achievements are worthless again. i like the idea of acheivements not being 100% worthless

I like it the way it is. Makes some colors have a level of prestige to them. Everything in this game is so incredibly easy anyway.

    Fixed that for ya.
Whenever I pull/engage more than three mobs, I die. I've got to be VERY careful of where I dodge roll to or watch where I'm going as I'm kiting.

    Edit:

Carp. Forgot why I posted in the first place. Darn Alzheimer's. ANYway.

The idea itself sounds good. Personally? I've said it many times and it bears repeating:

I'll happily pay $1.99 per dye. ON TOP OF my current sub.

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Well, if they would have made the system based on points then those new in the game or less online / more focused on a specific task would be left out.

Which is exactly how it should be in my opinion. Still have dyes as something you earn but let people select which ones they want or in what order.

I think I'd have rather had a 'player driven economy' but we'll see how this works out.

I would liked to have seen them be a craft item spread out over the different crafting professions. Would have been a good item to create and sell.

I would have liked to see dyeing as its own Craft with mats that had to be gathered as a new set of plants out in the World. More importantly, I would have wanted it to be that a crafter could dye something and then sell it and the colors would stay in place rather than being determined by what achievements the player buying it has unlocked. Making dyes part of the economy just seemed like a no-brainer to me and I was surprised at what they chose to do instead.

Um.... no. Just no. We already have enough mats we have to farm or spend a great deal of money if we want to craft a good quality set. There are so many mats in fact, that Zeni is considering revamping provisioning, even if only to lower the amount of them, instead of giving dedicated crafters an even bigger headache caused by worrying over inventory space and spending hours looking for ingredients.

Craftable dyes that require mats would actually be more difficult and expensive to acquire in the long run, since we'd have to worry about each color individually every time we want to color our armor, rather than a account-wide achievements than you only have to get once and then not worry about it. Plus it means people can actually accomplish something and get more from it than just a simple title.

Personally I'm all for tying the system with achievements. So far it seems like a good idea and while there are tons of achievements we have to spend some time to get, it's not like they're impossible.
