My ideas on Grouping Tool

I think the current Grouping Tool is almost useless. Soimetimes it's hard to group up with people, sometimes we don't group up with players we're looking for. And there's a bug that whenever I start searching for members and return to game and open the group window again, it magically switches back to the first dungeon on the list. Anyway, maybe you'll agree with me that the Grouping Tool is useless. I'd rather ask in guild or zone chat. However, as anything else, the Grouping Tool could be improved or revamped. Here are my ideas:
Sentence the current Grouping Tool to death. Make a new one like a name list. Whenever players want to run dungeons or trials or anything, sign up on the list under the corresponding tag and wait for group. The name list displays players' character names, levels, classes and prefered roles. Players who want to make a group can check the name list and send invites. If you don't want to wait you can look up the name list and invite people. With a tool like this, it's easier for us to group up with others and we have higher chance to group with the people we prefer. As you know, some people prefer to have a DK tank or a Templar healer in their group, and some people want to group with high level players, etc. You just need to pick the right guys you want to group with, or chat with him before grouping. I think it works better than the Grouping Tool we have now.

Grouping tools are often ignored, they were ignored in my last MMO too, people just don't use them, and ask for groups in chat.
People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!
    Wizard's first rule
    Passion rules reason
    Wizard's third rule
Mind what people Do, not what they say, for actions betray a lie.
    Wizard's fifth rule
Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self
    Wizard's tenth rule

I'm not down with that to be honest, a NB Tank would be waiting for hours not because they are poor, but because other players are ignorant and this would be the same story almost everywhere.

Better to choose your role and then place people into groups on a first come, first serve basis. If people don't like the group they are put in then they can leave and start the wait from the bottom.
As you know, some people prefer to have a DK tank or a Templar healer in their group

Frankly, such people should not be given the time of day in a search tool option. A tank is a tank, a healer is a healer. If you want more than that then join a guild or use the other tools provided.

I do however think the system could do with a bit of work. Roles should be more in your face and a little information and tactical suggestions would go a long way.

I've heard some of the existing negative feedback on the current grouping tool; I haven't used it myself but it's nice to see some ideas on improving things. Thanks.

This would create a very elitist community like at WOW with their open Raid UI. If you don't fit the demand of the leader you are out.

The current group system is much better, nobody will harass you because of a missing achievement, a low GS or a wrong class. Everyone can use the tool and this is how it should be.

Those who want to make an elite group can use the chat ;)

WoW does a few things well, grouping is one of them. Copy and improve.
    • Revamp the interface.
