Always third person in every RPG. I hate first person rpgs and avoid them like the plague. If there is something that messes up immersion in a RPG it is first person. I played TES in third person since Morrowind even if the Bethesda guys were very determined of doing a *** poor job of it even in Skyrim. Thank Sheo for third person mods. :) And thank ZOS for actually doing the third person properly in this one.
How would looking through your characters eyes mess up immersion? How does hovering over your character's back make you immersed? This game feels hooooooorible in third person.
My immersion in RPGs is given by how I create and perceive my characters not how I see the world. My character is the main focus and I can focus on it much better in third person. The fact that I grew up on Infinity Engine and similar top down isometric pc rpgs may also be a reason of why first person RPGs feel so wrong to me.
Also 1st person is not really looking trough my characters eyes it is looking trough a vision limiting box which doesn't seem natural. The third person field of view feels more natural most of the time.

There are however some great FPS/rpgs that feel great. Deus Ex....

I do the pov that best views how I kill stuff. So first person works for bows while third person works for everything else.

My Vampire Witch solos + dungeons for fun. That's 8 - 10 man groups. She does ones 2 - 6 above her level 'cause otherwise it's a face roll.

First person always. I can tell you how to do that BTW.

like anyone cares you can solo things as a vampire. just saying.

In the single player TES games I preferred first person. Mainly because it's way better for aiming and interacting with objects.

In an MMO, i kinda want to see what's going on behind my character. Plus, aiming does not need to be as accurate.

I'm always completely zoomed out though, because I hate the way the camera is off center otherwise.

I have to play 3rd until they add a damage map or something similar. I cannot even count the amount of times an enemy has respawned behind me and started shooting me in this game.

First person for me, all the way. I come to ESO from the Elder Scrolls games, where I've always played first person. This is actually my first MMO so I never had any experience otherwise. I really like the immersion that 1st person provides, too.

Not saying I don't back out to third person on occasion to check out my gear, have fun with emotes, etc. But combat and travel is all first person.

I play both in the single player games depending upon my mood, but mostly in third person. I play this one almost exclusively in third person. I suppose I really like being able to see my toon more often than not, and I also feel I have a better sense of my surroundings that way, especially in PvP.

Btw usualy in most games i'm used to play first peson i've even started to play eso in first person, the only problem is the circle ground aoe sign i can't see how big it is...so i've swiced to third person for most of the fights... the simple one dont need to avoid the aoe as a tank i can simpy cover myself with the shield but in bosses i have to go in third or i die

First person if this game was like all other TES games. But because it's not, I play in third person.

So glad this game included a first person option. Something about the way my brain and eyes work keeps me from being able to work in third person at all; I would never have played ESO had it been third person only.

I never use FP. Not even in TES unless there is a problem with the camera.

I play these games to develop a character. I want to see my work

I wish even FPS games had an over the shoulder view

I like to know if someone is attacking me from behind, which third person helps with.
