Servants of the Tribunal Temple

Who we are: The Servants are a mostly Dunmer guild still in the set-up phase RPing members of the Tribunal Temple hierarchy. The goals of the guild is to create plot-driven RP for members and the community to take part in through diplomacy and religious edicts as well as the promotion of Dunmer lore-based RP. The Servants will be based out of the Tribunal Temple in Mournhold but will be constantly traveling, spreading the will of ALMSIVI through the Pact as well as enforcing their laws in Morrowind. While the guild is primarily focused on Dunmer members a limited number of other races will be allowed into the guild itself with the understanding that due to Dunmer racism their opportunities for advancement will be limited.

Open Positions

Acolytes, Adepts and Curates - The priests and priestesses of the Dunmer religion, they are charged with interpreting the will of the Tribunal and spreading Dunmeri culture. A player in this position should expect their character to function as a religous leader, teaching Dunmer lore to other characters, as well as a diplomat, and even judge in some instances. This is a very freeform role that will allow for great adaptation for individual characters to find their niche.

Ordinators - Ordinators are the primary militant force of the Tribunal Temple. The Ordinatiors of the guild will be tasked with accompanying the Servants and protecting them on quests as well as enforcing the laws of Morrowind within its borders. Ordinator RP will be fairly standard military/guard RP with Dunmer flavoring and we hope to set up patrols for people to interact with or summon for assistance with random RP.

Outlanders - While the Dunmer are traditionally xenophobic the Pact has forced them to be more welcoming to outsiders. A small number of other races will be allowed to serve the Tribunal Temple on a limited basis. Proposals will be handled on a case-by-case basis for now.

Possible Future Roles

Hands of Almalexia - The Hands are the personal guardians and servants of the living goddess Almalexia, charged with dispensing her justice and tracking down dissidents wherever they may hide. Protected by her holy blessings and the best armor of the Dunmer, they are nearly unstoppable. Due to the high power and position we are currently not looking to recruit for this role and it is listed for lore purposes. In the future as the guild grows a very limited number of positions may be opened.

Bouyant Armigers - The personal warrior caste of the living god Vivec they seek to pattern their lives around his personality. While much smaller than the Ordinator faction they often have similar roles, though are also used to hunt down Daedra, Necromancers and members of the Sixth House. Due to the high power and position we are currently not looking to recruit for this role and it is listed for lore purposes. In the future as the guild grows a very limited number of positions may be opened.

A Game of Temples

In the Dunmeri theocracy religion and politics are naturally intertwined, and intrigue is a way of life.

The Great Houses

Dunmer society is divide up among the five Great Houses of Morrowind. While membership is usually though blood or marriage, most Dunmer either belong to one of the lineages or owe some sort of allegiance to one. Your House is more than family, it is your identity, your allies, and your enemies. Infighting and intrigue between the houses, both political and violent, is common.

House Indoril - The Indoril are orthodox and conservative supporters of the Temple and Temple authority. They make up the majority of the Tribunal Temple and traditionally occupy many of it's highest offices as well as the bulk of the Ordinators. The Indoril are also known to be one of the more xenophobic houses, both against foreigners, the Daedra, and all aspects of the Empire.

House Redoran - House Redoran prizes the virtues of duty, gravity, and piety. Duty is to one's own honor, and to one's family and clan. Gravity is the essential seriousness of life. Life is hard, and events must be judged, endured, and reflected upon with due care and earnestness. Piety is respect for the gods, and the virtues they represent. A light, careless life is not worth living. House Redoran makes up the bulk of Dunmer military strength and populates Vivec's personal warriors, the Buoyant Armigers. A Redoran's first duty is to the Tribunal, followed by House Redoran, then family.

House Telvanni - The wizard-lords of House Telvanni have traditionally isolated themselves, pursuing wisdom and mastery in solitude. But certain ambitious wizards-lords, their retainers, and clients have entered wholeheartedly into the competition to control and exploit Vvardenfell's land and resources, building towers and bases all along the eastern coast. According to Telvanni principles, the powerful define the standards of virtue. The Telvanni have also spurned the Ebonheart Pact, withdrawing to their own territory.

House Hlaalu - The most open to foreigners of the Dunmer houses, House Hlaalu are noted for being excellent merchants. They are the most adaptable of the Dunmer houses and are extremely opportunistic. Hlaalu maintained many of the Dunmer's ties to the Empire, giving them political influence that has waned since Cyrodiil has falled into disarray.

House Dres - House Dres is an agrarian agricultural society, and its large saltrice plantations rely completely on slave labor for their economic viability. Always firm Temple supporters, House Dres is hostile to Imperial law and culture, and in particular opposed to any attempts to limit the institution of slavery. The loss of it's Argonian slaves has cost House Dres dearly, and they still maintain underground slave trading. Nevertheless, they are still vehemently loyal to the Tribunal.

Ashlanders - Not a house, but a group of Dunmer that broke off from civilized society when the Tribunal was founded and continue to worship as their ancestors did. They are heretics and looked down upon by the Great Houses and are usually treated with hostility. They form a tribal society and keep to themselves for the most part.

Chaos is a Ladder

Politics and religion in Dunmeri society are inseparable and the temple is no exception. Far from being a merit based institution corruption and nepotism rule the day and ensure that many officials meet violent or suspicious ends. When a position opens up in the guild, it's superiors will fill it ICly based on their own ambition ties and circumstances. There will be time for bribes, intrigue and outright assassinations. If a character is killed, shamed, demoted or exiled their position becomes open, and other characters will have a chance to move up.

You Win or You Die

Death is part of life, and can often come earlier than expected when dealing with politics. While having your character open to permadeath is not a mandatory part of the system, it can add flavor and is encouraged if and when the story calls for it. Having a character open for permadeath does not provide any bonuses or penalties under the system.

I Serve the Realm, Someone Must

Not all who serve the temple put themselves first. Characters may be exempted from the intrigue system however their chances of reaching high office without a benevolent patron are somewhat limited as they will not be among the first considered for a promotion.
