Quite simply we cannot match DK's & Sorc's for regen or power.

I play the "Shady Assassin" Nightblade and am still heavily reliant on Stamina. The fact it, though, you can't play a "Nightblade" while completely rejecting the Nightblade skills.
My character is dual-wield only, I don't use any other weapons; I have no notable ranged attacks. I sneak in, strike, and disappear. I rely completely on high single target dps and I take on three-packs one mob at a time, typically dropping the first two before the third can react.
Yeah, I use Magicka, but that's to be expected when you're turning invisible right in front of your target. But the stamina becomes important for that third guy; the one who saw you drop his friends and now wants a straight up fight with you now that your Magicka pool is dry. He's the one you blind with your flashing blades, he's the one perforate with flurry while he bleeds out from Blood Craze.
And when all three are lying dead a your feet... You loot and disappear.
thats how I used to play I went through all the original un nerfed vet content inc dungeons like that. But I guarantee you will not clear trials or veteran crypt of hearts playing that way.
There is one way ATM dress and stick sad but true. If you can show me a vid of a melee nb pushing over 700 dps sustained for 4 minutes I'll happily eat my words.

An NB should not go toe to toe with anyone. You are an assassin. It amazes me that so many do not get this. My son plays a VR3 Vampire NB and he only attacks from stealth, usually invisibility and solos World Bosses for fun and giggles.

Split Magicka/Stam is that way to go (maybe one a bit more than the other depending on your playstyle) if you plan on doing mainly 1v1 or solo ganking.
Starting race makes little difference for the most part FYI. If you plan on going 1900/3100/1900 at endgame (magic/hp/stam) having that extra bonus to any stat is just going to adjust how you outfit your character, it won't actually change much in the way that character is played. (It's not like softcaps are affected by race selection)

My other Nightblade (I have three) is a Sword and Board tank. He goes toe-to-toe with everything. And he's tough as nails.

I have a tough sorc that can tank. He's just not great at it, he is very tough.
The thing is an NB can burst harder than anyone for a short time. My son's very critical build can do enormous damage when he attacks. It's kind of a waste as a tank.
Haha, that's pretty much expected for a NB, since nothing is that straightforward in the NB class trees. Even our best ultimate (veil of blades) is so hidden from plain sight, due to being so different from the base skill, that I've found a ton of v1+ NBs that haven't even heard of this skill.I'm a VR12 NB and I'm still confused with the class hehe.

I won't disagree that Nightblades are capable of some big numbers in the right situations; my point was that saying, "Hey, you're playing you class wrong. You should do it like this." is kind of pointless in a game where a single class can adequately perform basically any role.
Yeah, if I wanted to play a class capable of huge dps and dps is the role I want to play; then yes, it'd be silly to outfit my Nightblade for tanking. But if I want to play a tank, there's no reason it can't be a Nightblade.

O I'm using enchants, just not the top end ones.
Just FYI if you go full Magicka you will have one hell of an alpha strike, but after that you're more or less hosed. Pretty much all anyone has to do is pull out a shield and wait 5 seconds and then take you out.
Is it necessary to go so high on health? Does that no shorten your combat endurance?
I can see why extra health is necessary with NB, but maybe not as much? Or is it compulsory for PVP?
I only have experience in PVE and with no point spent in health and all points spent in stamina, I do well against a bunch of 3 mobs ONLY if I prepare my attack and fight smart. Having a DK with GBD helps a lot in PVE alone though. It saved me from many deaths.
Like others have mentioned above, I don't imagine an assassin other than medium armor with dual wield and now, warrior of the shadows you only see when it's already too late.
The PVP video posted earlier is impressive but I will not play in bathrobe and broomstick for an assassin. It goes against my RP and my fancy.
NB being so relying on magicka, I was planning on rolling a petite sexy Breton (my mates play in the daggerfall covenant) a la femme fatale lol
Should I go for a build more like 40%/40%/20% (mana/hp/stam) or should I spend more points in stamina knowing how much I rely on it for close quarters and dodging?
