New Form of AP Trading

My Subscription is in your hands. I refuse to play and pay for a game that rewards players who trade Alliance points in order to steal Emperor.
I've been playing hard on Celarus for the last few weeks trying to get enough points to become Emperor. During my time on this server it was clear that "Emperor Trading" was not the case here. AD would dominate the map during the prime-time and not allow DC to do much except fight at our own gates. It wasn't until a guild within the campaign started grouping up late at night, and carefully coordinating inner keep take downs, that DC was even capable of being rewarded Emperor. There would be times where we would get some resistance from AD, and there were nights where it wasn't possible to make the push.
This is not the same kind of Emperor Trading you see on some campaigns where the Alliances team up and do things like leaving walls un-repaired, setting up oil pots so that your faction can't set up anti-siege, or other toxic methods like that.
I'm making this post because I was cheated out of my chance at being crowned Emperor because a player came in 3 days ago and shot up the leader board extremely fast. This player has had Emperor already in the past, and it confused everyone on our campaign as to why he would want to ruin other players chance at this prestigious reward.
Yesterday I was on top by 170,000 Alliance points, and this player slowly closed the gap closer and closer. It was really odd to see this happening considering how dead the server was at the time. My guildies and I noticed that there were two DC resources at the AD Farragut Keep that repeatedly went under attack, but were successfully defended. So we ran across the map over there and found this player autoattacking 3-4 AD players while they sieged the resource tower.
We watched for a bit while he let the resource go under attack, then he would kill the players, defend the resource, and repair the tower. The AD players would then start sieging the other resource on the other side while he would repair and they repeated this process multiple times. My Guildy recorded this happening as we put in our tickets that this guy was cheating. I will attach the video to this post once he logs on if you don't see it here yet. It's safe to assume, with the speed at which he gained all these points, that he was doing this all along. I would also go as far to assume that he may have used this same method to get Emperor his first time as well.

With all the drama that went on yesterday, it came to my attention that some believe that this player is doing this to try and "White Knight" and stop Emperor Trading. To that I say good job, but your logic is very flawed. For one, you're trying to fight cheating WITH cheating, and that is not honorable in the least. And two, you successfully cheated someone (me) out of Emperor who worked hard to get it mostly with solo play. Those that know me know that I love to skirmish out on my own and work in very small groups. I was nowhere NEAR involved in emperor trading, and this server wasn't doing it either.
It also came to my attention that many players dislike me and hold grudges against me for one reason or another. To those players I am sorry. It was never my intention to offend anyone or put them off, so if you have any issues with me I encourage you to talk to me about it.
Bottom line, this player needs to be disciplined. If you ignore this type of cheating then everyone will either be forced to use this same method, or not get emperor at all. I'm disheartened and exhausted.

SBR_QuorTek✭✭✭Add a cooldown onto how often a player can apply AP to one then... if taken down two or tree times a 10 to 20minute cooldown would kick in or something before being able to wield AP again, could also put a plug into the actual farming.2 -

✭✭✭✭The naming and shaming policy sucks pretty hard. I would be interested in seeing this just because what you are describing doesn't seem like it should be enough to close that big of a gap.

✭✭✭✭✭I agree with the issue of being tired of all the trading/cheating going on for emperor. Most of my guild has quit playing PvP because of it all (and yes, most of us earn enough AP to get in the "rotation" for emp - actually we have more AP than most emps, but that's not what emp is supposed to be IMO, so we just quit playing). The problem I see with this rant is that same belief. You feel like you are entitled to be emperor because you earned some points - you say it as if this guy hadn't been cheating and had earned his points legitimately, you'd still be mad he was taking your spot since he already had been an emperor. That's where you lost me.
Other than going into Cyrodiil for PvE stuff and possibly needing to for crafting and such with the Imp City whenever that comes out, our guild is done with PvP until they get rid of the Former Emp bonuses I think. It's become a joke at this point.
Edit: speaking of AP trading - you also have huge guilds and groups now that are into dueling and because the game has no official dueling system or arena, they just fight in duels in cyrodiil. A side effect to this is players earning AP not for campaigning, but for a group of a few people standing there as others fight one on one. Not saying this is some horrible thing, but just pointing out to ZoS that some of these guilds are big enough that dueling might be a good feature to add since they aren't really "in cyrodiil" for the alliance war, so your population numbers aren't accurate and having a dueling system would be a better way to control AP for this type of thing (whether you want more or less AP).Edited by xaraan on July 29, 2014 3:02PM-- @xaraan --

Players like this make this game hard to bear. Knowing how to cheat the system and get away with makes you an ___hole, not smart.

I suspect this is a pointless post as you have a horse in this race but...
What has happened here is that a player who legitimately got to the top of the leaderboard had their potential Emperorship taken by another player who had friends/guildies log on toons from another faction to help them get AP.
So some very unsporting play has trumped legitimate play. It's just not cricket.

It is perfectly legal and if the opposing side keeps trying to go back and recapture the resource then so be it. Hell, I'd stay as well. Have you received a defense tick from defending a resource if there are only a couple people there? It's massive.
Now with that said is it ethical if they are all friends just doing this to get this guy on top of the leader boards? Absolutely not but there really is no way to police this. Hopefully with the newer campaigns coming out some things will change...1 -

Easy solution to this is to add what campaign the player was emperor of in his title.
For instance:
<Former Emperor of Celarus>
Then you would automatically know, "Oh this guy just went to a dead campaign to get emperor".
or <Former Emperor of Volderuung>
Then you would automatically know, "This guy emp traded to get his title".
or <Former Emperor of Wabbajack>
Then you would automatically know, "Oh f*** this guy has got to be a DK, I better run".

on the contrary - people farming 'friendly' enemy guilds/players to shoot ahead on the AP leaderboards to become emperor will become even more common once the number of campaigns is reduced and the 'flipping' of inner keeps is less practical

I dont think Brizz was clear as to what was taking place.
-A couple guys sieged a resource at an abandoned out of the way part of the map where interference was unlikely.
-They then let him kill them, rezzed and went to the other resource and bombed the tower while he repaired the first.
-They then let him kill them at the second resource, rezzed and bombed the first resource tower while he repaired the second.
-Rinse and repeat.
This wasnt a case of someone defending a resource against noobs who kept coming back to get killed. It was a well orchestrated method of gaining AP on an empty map between opposing factions. When I came over and took a vid yellow was bombing the tower with the blue guy standing next to them with his map open (apparently he was a little too quick at repairing the other resources tower) and had to wait while they brought the second tower down before their sacrifice to the Great God of Cheating.
Do what you want with the information. Cheaters will cheat. My guild will blow you out for doing it.6 -
