Why are beta players who never purchased the game still allowed to post on these forums? I thought that deactivated accounts were prevented from doing that.

If I recall correctly it was done to protect your Account log-in details.

If you read the ToS carefully, it actually turns out that banning/suspension on the forums affects your game account too. Which is a neat way of dealing with trolls.----

I am wondering whether it is possibly BECAUSE they never bought the game....
I.e. Their Beta forum accounts never got closed, an oversight?

Indeed, someone that does not own the game and participated in Beta should not be able to post on the Forums anymore. The fact some some beta testers still have access without having an active game account is an error.
We are working on it, to ensure forums & game are reflecting our current player-base.
