Are 7 slot Light Armor Tank Still Valid, and is that staying that way?

Our tank went link dead during a vet dungeon run (storms at his place) and the only other guild member who was on that could join us was another healer. As I did not have my tank armor with me I joked that I could tank (I was the current healer) in light armor if I just add my armor jeweler (which took me way over the soft cap) which I had in my inventory already. (And if we wipe I will port out and change my armor)

What surprised me was how easy the rest of the instance was. I thought 7 light armor tanks was a joke, but it worked. They changing this or are 7 light armor tanks still valid?
I was over the soft caps for health, magic, magic reg, armor and spell resists. My Stamina was only 1k but none of the skills I loaded used it.

I used
Inner Beast (Taunt and main spammer on targets)
Blazing Shield (Damage Shield)
Solar Barrage (AOE for taunt)
Blinding Flashes (Enemies miss 50%)
Spiked Bone (2500 Armor, Damage shield and Returns Damage to Attackers.

So the healer just good, or are 7 slot Light Armor Tank still valid? Is that going to change? If they are valid, what's a good Templar light armor tank build? What skills are better then others?

The only thing that is a joke is heavy armor.

7-light tanks are fully viable, for all four classes, although some do it better than others. The reason some people have not fully accepted light armor tanking is that in the early stage of the game, heavy armor is better (since at level 1, the only difference between armor classes is the armor value). So tanking in heavy armor got ingrained when you first played in the lvl 15 dungeon. But as the game progresses, the passives for light armor far outstrip those of heavy armor, while the advantage in armor point become relatively less important.

The soft caps being so low makes armor kind of a joke.

Light by far has the best passives, and you can use the one good thing from heavy (the Ultimate) without wearing a single piece of it AFAIK.

    Skadi Storm-Blade - VR14 Altmer Sorcerer
Brynnhild Valkyrja - VR12 Nord DragonKnight
Haakon Hardrada - VR12 Nord Templar
    Sanguine's Tester (retired)

    Cattle die
    kinsmen die
    all men are mortal.

So for a Templar who heals and tanks (I could never make my Templar good dps, so I have stopped trying), getting down to one permanent armor set would save hassles. 7 Light with armor on rings instead would do this.

Time to find which 'sets' are good for both tanking and healing and see if I can find one that can 'do it all'. If only Magicka Furnace Set was V12

I found the skill Spiked Bone better then the skill Immovable Brute but I guess if the boss does lots of knock backs. So even if they force you to wear heavy armor to use Immovable Brute, it would not be a big loss

I was tanking last night with my LA Sorc in The Vile Manse. Got in the middle of a mob and used Impulse, Wall of Elements and Endless Fury. Worked out just fine, even with no Armor buffs beyond one ring that gives me 190 extra Armor.

This might not be Tanking in the classic sense, but I was drawing all the mobs in to be cooked up Medium Well.
