They've never done a regular maintenance in 1 hour, let alone anything this size...lol
But yes, they would have tested, re-tested and tested again pretty much everything. I fairly sure (at least I hope) 9 hours is a conservative estimate on their part allowing them plenty of time. After all, no point saying 2 hours and it ending up taking 9.
At least we got a date and time confirmation, just wish they would be this exact about other stuff !

9 hours for a complete server farm migration? Sounds about right to me. There is only so much that can be staged ahead of time, then all the data has to be replicated. Then the system has to be tested. Testing is probably what will take the most time.

Also, when ever I am doing a network maintenance that will take down a customer's circuit, I always tell them it will take twice as long as expected. That way I am a hero when it gets finished before the scheduled end time.
