Spellcrafting Concerns (for the future)

Hello all,

Before I get too much into this, yes, I've searched for other threads, and yes, I've seen the Quakecon 2014 panel.

However, none of them have raised, or brought up something that concerns me.

Spellcrafting is going to be awesome all in itself, and I'm pretty sure, there's some "catch" to this system. This is my concern.

Looking back at the Quakecon Demo of this, they didn't really specify, or go into too much detail about this, and how it works, other than just searching for runes, and crafting spells.

Now, what concern me, is when they were talking about the spells, they didn't exactly bring up "Classes". So, I assume, and I'm sure quite a good portion of players assume that there's going to be no class restriction on these, right?

I'm curious as to if Spellcrafting is going to be class restricted again. Meaning Sorcerer is the ONLY class with conjuration magic, thus, no one else can really use these spells, it'd be pointless in general to craft the spells.

My other concern is they bring up the Island at the end of the mages guild Quest line, forget what it's called right now, so does that mean we're going to have to unlock this as well? Meaning our alternative characters, or new players won't just be able to "jump" into Spellcrafting? I mean don't get me wrong, doesn't take much to finish all the storyline and such for the guilds, I'm simply concerned because that's the only means to unlocking the island where you can start Spellcrafting.

Anyways, I don't recall the Quakecon video word for word, maybe I'm over worrying about things, and maybe these have been brought up elsewhere.

It certainly would be heartbreaking to find out we still can't "Play the way we want".

It will not be restricted to a specific class. Their biggest concern with this system is game balance, so giving it to one class would be a monumentally silly decision.

I didn't notice whether they mentioned Eyevea in the preview, but I wouldn't be surprised. By the time you reach Eyevea, you should be getting closer to the level cap, and that's really the point where the new spells will become useful. Newer characters/players shouldn't have to deal with the added complexity of crafting their own spells while they're still developing their build.

Konkle mentioned that the tablets would be tradable, so you could craft them and mail them to your fresh lvl 3 alt I guess.

There's no reason to think there won't be level restrictions on the tablets though, like there are on all other useful items.
