Should you be able to join more than 5 Guilds?

This is bound to be less of an issue with 1.3 patch, but still, I've found that 5 guild limit is too low for me, between the guilds that I joined to find people for Trials, my PVP Guilds, my PVE guild, I don't have space for a trading guild...

I think it would be nice if we could join more Guilds seing how they help people come together & create groups, making the game more awesome.

I think it will be less of an issue in 1.3 since guilds will be able to sell in the world, but still, it will only allow to buy, not sell because of the guilds limit.

Personally I find being in more than one guild at a time to be a bit...strange. I just would prefer that they increase the 500 member cap, it is the reason people have to be in more than one guild anyway. Not even gonna touch a global auction house solving ALL these problems - nope, not me.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

Global AH is the opposite of the economy they are trying to create in game and I think it's ok.

1 guild is also far from enough IMO, I've got 2 guild for finding people for Trials, 2 guilds for PVP depending on the campaign I play and one Guild for my actual Guild.

personly i would just prefer ONE guild with a server OR Zone Auction House
as 5 guilds as it is are only used to sell stuff, theres no real guild communication or friendly group activitys or even hardly any chats, maby i'm in the wrong 5 guilds i dont know,But i do find having one guild was alot more manageable and everyone helped each other, this game seems to have taken all this away because you are Customers and thats it.

so NO 5 guilds is enough

Now instead of having a place to you know sell your wares properly, zone chat is filled with nothing BUT "WTS!", your absolutely right, it IS the opposite of what a Global AH community/economy would have been.

Back to the topic though, I find 5 guilds a bit silly to begin with, not going to vote, because my option is one guild period. Or, at the very least, they could have done something like Guild Wars 2 where you "represent" one guild at a time, but even then, that was a pretty silly idea to begin with too.

One guild seems to be all anyone is going to stick with in the end anyways. I honestly can't see anyone in their right mind joining 5 different guilds.

Of course with how broken their trading system is right now, I suppose then, and only then it'd be possible, or rather mandatory to join 5 guilds now.

Among the many flaws, this is just another one. Instead of having ONE good thing that works, try to replace it with 5-10-100-*add number here*.

Obviously, I am talking about the "trade guilds" rather than the "real guilds". Because, if you find one decent guild where you can belong and be among friends and companions, this is more than enough.

"Trade guilds" = cheap / fail alternative to a better (and tried) economy (you can call it "auction house" if you feel the urge).

What we should have is Merchant Guild slots, and Normal Guild slots. Since we are forced to join a Guild to be able to sell. Unless you want to spam zone chat.

Well, the opposite of global AH is actually having merchants in the world and the bid system they will implement in 1.3

Remember that the game was released unfinished with lots of contents that where missing including the full economic system. When 1.3 hits, there will be a lot of possibilities & traveling to be done to get the items and I bet some popular spots will arise with some really good merchant guilds with the items you actually need and even if AH is more convenient the selling system will be more than just hundreds of stacks for sale where people lower the price or just vampirise a particular type of resources to get the monopole on sale price as it happens in all the games with AH (many people that get rich in MMOs just buy all the offered items of a particular resource whose price is lower than theirs in AH and then sell to THEIR price, keeping prices high and the money income high).

I disagree with all the people here saying that "one should only have one guild". I have a guild with very very nice people, a very nice community and I'm happy to be in it, yet, we don't have 500 players in it (since it's one of those guilds where you need to go on TS & be invested in the community and that's great since a good guild needs that to function).

There aren't many people in that guild that are VR12 and even less that can do trials. So in order to do end game content and find people to play with (since grouping system sucks), there are guilds created just for that. It's the same story with PVP. MY guild does PVP 2x a week and some other times there are a couple of people in PVP. If I want a large group of organized skilled people to play with, I need to join an other guild to keep in touch & join them on daily pvp when I feel like it.

One guild might do it for casual players that are still in 1-50 zones, it did it for me, I had 1 guild and 4 trading guilds. Once you reach end game, if you want to experience it right, it all changes sadly and you need guilds to find people to play with, leaving you spaming "WTS" in chat.

You might have the impression there isn't one because game was released unfinished. When 1.3 hits, there will be an "economy" even though there already is an economy anyways.

Pre VR12 most purple items sell for ~ 1 to 3k gold. Items that drop in trials that sell for 5-15k for the most wanted ones. Stacks of VR5 SweetRolls sell for 7-10k, stacks of spell crit potions for 9-12k, Imperial motif is sold for 60-75k, Daedric for ~25K, lower motives for 900-1.2k, there is a price range for tempers, enchantment crafting etc etc etc.
People buy flowers for a fee, they make potions with the flowers, they sell potions for a fee <= Economy.

Just because you don't have an AH where you can see all those price ranges, doesn't mean there isn't a price range nor an economy behind them.

Nah, 5 Guilds is just fine.
For those who say one guild is plenty, while I don't disagree (as I have played games where that is the case and have coped just fine with that), I wanted to just list how I use 3 of the 5 guilds, since they are available to me:
    1. My main guild, who I do dungeons, PvP, Craglorn, etc with, which is aligned to DC and primarily for DC members
    2. A guild for the TES fan-site I am part of, which is open to all alliances but aligned to EP
    3. A trading guild, which is cross-faction (although aligned to AD)
      • If I used the other two guilds, they would be:
    4. A PvP-centered guild in DC, or a raid-centered guild in DC
    5. An AD guild or an EP guild for general PvE content
I don't use these two yet though because my main guild does both PvP and raids, and my TES fan-site guild has members in all alliances.

Where is the "One guild...I like the feeling of loyalty and commitment" option?

Even though I am in five guilds, it takes away from the RP and immersion for me...joining one guild means I make a commitment to a group of players.

If they do only allow one guild, their maximum guild roster should most definitely be increased. Not sure why they did the five guild system and limit the amount of players allowed to join.

Makes it hard to search multiple guild stores, on top of managing five different guild chats (yes, colors help, and yes, tabs can help too, but you always miss something regardless).

    Just my opinion.

I do think the next update will fix the AH issues, but the situation I have run into has forced me to change 3 guilds so far because out of 500 members only two of us have been on in the last 2 months.

The other problem is being able to price shop with more guilds I could find things for a better price. One guild mate sells items at ridiculous rate sometimes 3-4x's higher then some of my other guilds. The other problem is finding the right item i'm looking for, many times the gear and mats are either all vr12 or level 15.

Chat setup is a bit of an issues too. I have different colors and tabs for each guild, but with the chat spam still going on it can be difficult to follow a conversation.

Not to mention if someone asks for help or advertises something for sale in a guild whose tab I am not viewing currently, it's easy to miss.

I currently have 4 guilds, 1. PvE guild 2. My PvP Guild 3. Crafting guild (looks to be shut down soon) 4. Trading guild. I think 5 is enough, as long as you can find the right PvP/PvE guilds that should be enough as you learn to play with the same people & to me a guild is a group of players helping each other, so as a VR4 I never mind going round with some of the lower level guys to help them if they need it or organising a same level group within the guild. A lot players have been saying that ESO doesn't encourage grouping. There is a group dungeon in EVERY zone, there are multiple group bosses in EVERY zone, there is a group public dungeon in EVERY zone. I personally feel its the players that aren't grouping, in my PvE guild we have 68 members out of them around 15-20 actually group/socialise with other guild members. So I think as long as you have a guild where everyone wants to group then you should have 3 slots for trading.

I'm only in two guilds (neither one is a trading guild) and I'm starting to think that that's two too many. I miss the comraderie of being loyal to one close-knit guild, and I don't think I'm going to find that in this game.

So either answer is fine, as I'm starting to think the guild system isn't for me.

I personally don't think 5 is too many as such. I am in a PvE guild like I said but I have then created a PvP guild as a spin off to the original guild. I am still fully loyal to the PvE guild, but then I play to socialise & group & I think a lot of players just aren't interested in it. I managed to do a Cyrodil run with some guildies last night but could only get a 5 strong group together out of 20 players online & the situation is even worse when trying to form a PvE group. I just wish players wouldn't join a PvE/PvP guild if they are not planning on grouping after all I see no other benefit from joining a guild apart from the store but there are many trading guilds for that. I would prefer a 20 member guild (we have 68) where players interact & group than a large guild where no-one does.
