lol It is fitting that the first comment be by exactly one of those people to whom I'm referring.
"The thing that crashes the server" is called pvping and last I checked, that's what we do in Cyrodiil. If we come up against 50 people defending a keep, we try to bring 50-70 and in the process the server sometimes (like 5% of the time) crashes. The obvious conclusion I draw, is that the server needs to be updated to deal with that kind of load and in the meantime we deal with occasional crashes.
Your suggestion is what exactly?
We let them keep the keep?
We only bring 20 people, so we don't accidentally overload the server?
We wait for them to leave and then take the keep?
Ask them nicely to leave because we don't want to crash the server?
I'm drawing a blank here.
Or do you think we just go in there and do our damnedest to crash the server, hoping that maybe somehow we can get back to the keep before them and ninja cap it from them?
Just an FYI, almost every time the server crashes, it's after we've taken down the outer and inner walls and are working on flipping the flag. I don't see how a server crash would works in our favor, when we have to come back and start all over again.
Do people make these accusations because they refuse to believe that they may not be as good as they think they are?
"You couldn't possibly beat me unless you're cheating/exploiting/hacking."
you can do better than that Columba.:) c'mon now. if you are going to insult me, at least use something you have not already used a dozen times over.Lol tinfoil hat time!NookyZooky wrote: »well, when people continually do the thing that crashes the server, when they had plenty of time to realize what they do crashes it, that is a little suspicious. but that really has nothing to do with factions, its just certain people that are selfish and take winning/losing too seriously.
not only that, but you failed to read the last part of my post. I assume you just saw the first part and then made that comment, without reading the last part. I said it was SUSPICIOUS, and it is. I never blamed one faction for it in that comment. im just going to stop responding to you until you can come up with something besides "tinfoil hat" I almost did not even rpely to you at all this time. good nightLol tinfoil hat time!NookyZooky wrote: »well, when people continually do the thing that crashes the server, when they had plenty of time to realize what they do crashes it, that is a little suspicious. but that really has nothing to do with factions, its just certain people that are selfish and take winning/losing too seriously.

well this actually has a name: The Dunning-Kruger-Effect.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias manifesting in two principal ways:
--- Unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than is accurate. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their ineptitude.
--- Those persons to whom a skill or set of skills come easily may find themselves with weak self-confidence, as they may falsely assume that others have an equivalent understanding. See Impostor syndrome.
Dunning and Kruger proposed that, for a given skill, incompetent people will:
-- tend to overestimate their own level of skill;
-- fail to recognize genuine skill in others;
-- fail to recognize the extremity of their inadequacy;
-- do recognize and acknowledge their own previous lack of skill, if they are exposed to training for that skill.

Between the forum chatter and zone chat in Cyrodiil, I am amazed at how idiotic people can be. It's much easier to accuse everyone else of cheating, than to face reality.
*Every time a server crash happens that benefits a faction, the other factions accuse them of doing it intentionally.
I would love to meet these server crashers and ask them why they don't crash the server at more optimal times for us.
*Every time 2 factions get the upper hand on a 3rd, they're accused of teaming up.
As much as I'd love it, if EP would push AD, every time we needed a distraction, it doesn't always work out that way.
*Every time a group beats another group with superior numbers, they're accused of "zerging".
Yes, apparently gathering in large organized pvp groups is a form of MMO terrorism.
*Every time a game element fails to act as it should, because of bugs/glitches in the game, everyone starts accusing everyone else of exploiting.
"I saw this guy totally hax is way into the keep wall!"
-"Why would he do that, what does he stand to gain from it?"
"Hey shut up Haxor lover, that's not the point, the point is HE HAX!"
*Every time the game lags in a big fight, the losing faction accuses the winning faction of "dropping a lag bomb".
If anyone knew how to drop a lag bomb that rendered the enemy helpless, as they steamrolled through them, while laughing maniacally the entire time, they would never lose!
How do you know they were cheating?
"Obviously it was them, I mean it wasn't us!"
Do people make these accusations because they refuse to believe that they may not be as good as they think they are?
"You couldn't possibly beat me unless you're cheating/exploiting/hacking."
Is it because they assume that everyone who plays MMOs has a deep enough understanding of the mechanics of the game to be able to exploit it to their advantage at will?
"They knew they were about to lose so they gave the command for everyone on the server to jump at precisely the same time, while casting pulsar and healing spring, to crash the server. Inconsequentially, the roll back did not help them win because they're noobs."

And you need to be very careful how you apply this. Would you apply this to an athlete who complains about substance abuse when beaten by another athlete?

this is not about people who complain about cheaters. this is about people who complain for the reason of complaining.
apparently this hits you at the wrong spot, huh?

I did quote you because I was agreeing with you. I did not say that I think you or anyone crash servers intentionlly, on the contrary, I was laughing at the other person who did. I'm not sure how my agreeing with you backfired. I'm actually not sure how you didn't gather that from my post, other than you being quoted.lol. I am happy i have a stalker. your understanding of pvp is fairly laughable. You monkies thinking we crash the server is hilarious. we are out there to play not crash servers. carry on though
I guess in that sense, you really showed me then, huh? I won?
Well, you are really showing those complainers who's boss. You are trumping their complaining by complaining about their complaining. Are you feeling guilty because you won?
Probably true. My issue with that vocal minority is that they spread these accusations and some of the people who don't know any better, believe them. Spreading the accusations further.andrewb14_ESO45 wrote: »Didn't read the entire thread but what you have is bunch of immature sore losers. Both young and old age wise. I ignore them most of the time, but I feel obligated to discredit them, to defend honest pvpers who are getting a bad reputation because of them.
But you are not discrediting them. You are just complaining about the complainers. You have no facts. Yes, some people are sore losers and in some cases the Dunning-Kruger effect applies.
But go read about Christophe Bassons who spoke out against drug use in cycling and particular Lance Armstrong and then got completed pushed out of the sport by the other competitors.
Do not just leap to conclusions, unless of course, you are a cheat, to quote Shakespeare, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

Just as you don't have proof of the cheating that people are being accused of.
When me and the group that I'm with, get accused of cheating and I clearly know that we're not, then I have MY proof for me and that's all I need. If YOU want proof, go get it yourself.
I can only assume, that if my groups get falsely accused of cheating, then other groups do as well. I know that the people I play with accuse the enemy of cheating all the time and that bothers me just as much as being accused myself.
On the other hand, you quoted Shakespeare, so you must be onto something.
Yes, Lance Armstrong, whatever you say.
So far from the experience I have had this has been a very immature or hostile PVP community.
My favourite part is where everyone who uses the latest FOTM build is being accused of exploiting and should be banned. I don't support true cheating within the game and I do wish ZOS would actually take a stance on some of them but the community needs to grow up a little as well.
using the FOTM build is not exploiting. its a bit sad that so many people simply follow what "everyone does" but its not exploitingSo far from the experience I have had this has been a very immature or hostile PVP community.
