[EU] Auriel's Bow - massive ability lags

Since patch 1.2.5 many players encounter lags, where they can freely move around, see other people move smoothly (not warping around), but no ability can be used or only works with some seconds delay.

I am atm in a massive battle at Alessia and am writing this because ingame I can do s.hit due to this ability lags. These lags seem to be more intense the nearer you are to a massive battle.

And another thing bothers me: Patch 1.2.5 didn't fix the fps drops totally, it just made the problem less annoying. But I still have about 20% less fps than I had before introduction of this problem with patch 1.2.3. Lowest fps now 15, before 18. Avarage fps in a large battle 20, before 25.

Folks of Zenimax, it's enough! There are still lots of bugs concerning the PvP (CC unbreakable, abilities broken, balancing issues, keep doors not working, siege engines not working etc.), but now the performance of the game is diminishing from patch to patch and it reached a level that is not tolerable anymore.

And what are you guys (and girls) doing? Spreading marketing blah blah about how great looking guild tabards you will implement with 1.3.x. Giving us colors to paint the ugly armors. Well, you can give us fluff content like that if the game is running well, but not now while it is so broken that you can't do serious PvP anymore, you have to concentrate your efforts on fixing the performance (even if that means that you undo the changes to the lighting ingame, which I believe is the reason for all this trouble).

For my part I had enough. I just cancelled my subscription. I won't pay anymore for a broken game like this. I will use the rest of my time and observe if Zenimax gets any debugging done. If they do I might subscribe again.

    Actually, shame on me, Morticielle.

    You were right about the lags after hotfix. I didn`t have them in the mornings for a few days after hotfix, but now skill delay and massive lags with everybody stutterstepping even in the early morning hours. Almost as bad as the fps issues have been.

    The current state of server performace regarding lag time vs abilitiy action is beyond tolerance - it is in the multi-second range. Another word would be: ridiculous.

    Running around freely while hammering a hole into ones keyboard or mouse trying to provoke an action and watching the sequence of events senconds later - if at all - can not be.

    Running around freely for seconds while watching an opponent doing nothing (but running around) and than suddenly getting killed by at least half a dozen attacks by such opponent (or vice versa) can not be.

    Dear Zenimax, this is not what we all are paying for!

    It is really bad! I fire a meatbag and it leaves the catapult 10secs later.

    Yeah it's much better but it's still there and still significant. I was down to 15-20 frames this morning on low pop. It doesn't matter if I have my graphics on ultra high or minimum, I still get the same amount of frames either way.

    The Ability lag is not only just in cyrodiil in general PvE content it is as well... well you can adjust for it since it seem to be the same delay no matter FPS... but it is a lesser drop in quality of gameplay that should be fixed as quickly as possible.

    I wont blame the developers really on this, as they are trying to fix the stuff, but did the testers not noticing these things?

    On the bright side it seem to be a general problem annoying everyone so at least not an advantage over the other party.

    Do keep in mind that certain addons can cause the problem as well as they technically am being 3rd party programs as in my case it seem to be minimal on either side. ;)

    Yes, I know and I tested it: I had the same ability lags with addons as well as without ANY addon. :(

    24th July: 7:50 pm, another rollback of about 5-10 minutes.

    25th July: 9:06 pm, delays for actions (skill use, door or NPC interaction and Cyrodiil chat) started again.

    I had the FPS bug both in PvP and PvE, and although the FPS seems to be (mostly) fixed and players draw as they should, I am having the same issues with ability lags.

    It always happens when the server is full. Sometimes it is pretty playable, but other times I can't play at all.

    I press W for one second and have my character walk forward for 10.
    I hit a key and the ability never happens. I hit it again and nada. Again, and the spell suddenly fires three times in a row by itself. This is very obvious with something like mounting. I try to mount and nothing happens, and all of a sudden I mount and dismount three or four times without touching the keyboard.

    Oddly enough as abilities are getting unreliable, Weapon Swap has become a lot more reliable.

    The ability lag has pretty much destroyed my enjoyment of PvP. PvP has become pointless as things are now. Right now I'm just waiting for an announcement on when the EU server will be moved to EU. If it's some weeks away this has to be fixed ASAP. So Zenimax, when will you move the server?

    It's especially 'funny' if you're a Sorc like me an try to use Bolt Escape and then after 15, 20 or more seconds it's teleporting you backwards to where you stand while trying to use Bolt Escape.

    The most ridiculous situation with those ability lags I had while defending a keep. Our enemies had breeched the outer wall and I tried to reach the inner keep. I tried to 'blink' towards a postern door of the inner keep, but it didn't work due to the lag. When I reached the door I had to klick on it over and over again until after 15 or 20 seconds I got through. I turned right and ran the stairs up. After running for 10 Meters I suddenly was teleported out into the yard right in front of an enemy player. I got lucky, because he seemed to have ability lags to and couldn't attack me. I tried to enter the inner keep again via postern door and after another 10 to 15 seconds finally got in.

    This is no fun!

    To think i used to complain when we got 3-5 second ability delay, during peak time it can be as long as 20 seconds. As selfish as this may sound, I expect better when we pay to play.

    I'm just defending Bloodymane or at least trying it with 12 fps and ability lags up to 30 seconds. No impulse spammer groups around, so no one can blame them. And Zenimax still not responding to this thread and to other threads with same theme.

    What's up @ZoS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_GinaBruno‌, @ZOS_BrianWheeler? Cat got your tongues? Or did you receive a National Security Letter (NSL) from the NSA and aren't allowed to response because those lags concern the national security of the USA? Or are you as arrogant as german chancellor Angela Merkel, who often ignores pressing political issues and just sits them out?

    This is intolerable!

    That's what you get if you have a few zergballs running around in one place, entire server will experience a Chernobyl meltdown. Nothing you can do about it, probably nothing Zenimax will do about it either.

    I have the ability lag too. I guess we all do. And it needs to be fixed.
    Add PvP loot drops for some risk/reward in this game.

    I have encountered most (if not all) issues mentioned here. Especially annoying to lose a keep simply cos the door isnt working and you have to run to a new one (that hopefully) you can enter. I also had the FPS drop ppl are talking about. I dont have a super rig but I get anywhere betweehn 40-60 (vSync) fps. Cyrodiil is lower but still smooth enoough (fps wise). Then one time i lost all FPS (I had 10.4) and even inside a keep with NO fight miles around looking at floor, still 10.4 fps. I relogged (of course had to queue again).

    I wholeheartedly agree with OP, I DONT CARE about colors or dying, its lame and really pisses me off you put this in while PvP essentially is broken 50% of the time.

    The issue is mainly caused by certain groups spamming synergies which causes immense lag within the whole server. I won't name names, but those who are in AB know who I'm talking about.

    This happens throughout the entire map and it's always possible to tell when those groups are online. It always happens around those groups as well and disappears when they are wiped. This goes back to the original issue of AoE caps.

    I get the lagz, whether im running with said group or not - so I can confirm the lags arent only tied to these group. They happen on a regular basis whether they are present or not. However, premade groups tend to attract fighting, so more ppls will come and that's the problem - not how you set up your PvP groups, but the games inability to handle large scale PvP - something we were pitched before the release, that large scale pvp was a focual point of this game.

    Trying to place blame on certain players/groups/factions/whatever is silly and poisonous. The problems appear in any large battle since any large battle is large enough to have enough people do whatever makes the game have such a hard time.

    I've been in large battles with over 50+ players on both sides and only experienced minimal lag in abilities, but when fighting certain groups who ball up and spam synergies it always results in very large lag in being able to use abilities or both take and inflict damage. We've had to result to light attacks as the only means of combat due to those abilities.

    It's not those groups' fault, and I'm not blaming them. The issue as I mentioned in the rest of the quote you omitted is due to the game mechanics and system and that what needs to be changed, as has been mentioned countless times.

    And as I stated I have experiences contradicting yours. So either of us could be right or either could be wrong. FACT, you dont know for sure and the instability of the game, at least IMO, points more in the direction of crappy software that cant handle 'large scale PvP' regardless if people are stacked or spaced out. Actually, i fail to see why stacking would cause more strain than saying a spaced out battle (lets average radius of 10m to either friend or foe) during a siege courtyard battle.

    WE can agree, however, on the fact that the Devs should sort this problem out, and that this is more important than playing the minigame of fashion designer and coloring your outfit!
