Truisms found in Tamriel

Hunting for things like herbs and ore is often easier at night.

You have to watch out for crabs - they often work in pairs.

Only non hostile people get names.

Wolves and necromancers are among the biggest wussies in Tamriel.

Food found in ancient crypts is completely edible.

No matter how upstanding the citizen is, he/she probably keeps several sets of lockpicks around their home.

Tired of those pesky adventurers looting your barrels? Just place something on top of a barrel.

    • I'm just happy that all those small snakes and scorpions aren't aggressive or poisonous.
    • Crabs have a reach that spans about 8 diameters.
    • I generally can't jump onto something approximately waist high. I usually either jump 12 feet passed it, or it invisibly slaps me to one side or another.

Roofs are sacred, which is why you float over them, the Gods don't want your dirty boots defiling them.

Wolves don't need to have pups, if they howl briefly two more wolves materialise out of thin air.

Vampires can walk out in daylight no matter how long it was since they last fed.

Daedra don't notice how strong/weak we are, at the Dolmens we might be attacked by Daedroth or by Banekin (or any other Daedra).

About the non-hostile people? You won't normally find "Bill" trying to attack you - it will be "Bandity Brigand" or some such.

Skyshards may fall from the heavens, but someone always drags one down to the bottom of every cave, ruin and mine, yet they are rare enough nobody ever seems to have collected 2 or more in one place (If the bosses only had 2 more they could learn new skills!)

That isn't true at all...and it isn't just 'bosses'. We often just call them bosses because they have a name or might be a quest objective, not because they are bosses (ie buffed mobs) particularly. I've killed more named 'rank and file' in this game than I have any other, I think.

-Men, Mer, and beast can swim, but only on the surface.
-Enemies can melee hit you from several yards away and cast magic at you through walls.
-No matter how strong you become, the mudcrabs in the next zone will be stronger.
-Merchants will buy things from you for pennies on the dollar of what they sell them for.
-Raw cooking ingredients such as onions and carrots are not edible, but strange plants such as Nirnroot and Dragonthorn are. Also, you can only drink water after mixing chemicals into it and you can't eat the fish you catch.
-The hide found off a skeever makes the same armor as the hide off a wolf or bear. That's quite a sporty looking set of armor you got there, made 100% from dead giant rats.
-Not only do most of the citizens never sleep, but they don't even go home. The ones who do sleep are likely in a coma.
-There were no diseases a thousand years before Skyrim (except maybe Sanguinare Vampiris).
-An ingot of iron has the same weight as a teaspoon of salt. Also, items like ingots can stack up to 100 with the same weight, but items like recipes and motifs can't.
-People in Tamriel have been celibate or sterile for at least 20 years, possibly because they never go home.

-- Run, jump, and plow through hordes of mobs taking a path as far as you can through a dungeon...then finally succumb at which point all mobs following you will retreat to their original positions...resurrect on the spot and before you materialize continue down the path to a safe location before you become 'whole' once more.

-- Jump into that perfect hiding place only to discover you can't progress but are stuck. The barrel won't move; the tree branch won't move; and you can't climb over any of it.

-- Chased and ready to die but there is deep water near you? Swim out into it and none of your foes will follow...not even the alligators or crabs. But don't try swimming far around a rocky shoreline--the fish will get you if you don't retreat quickly.

Too many to think of--they lurk around every corner of this game.

Your wardrobe is a perfectly good place to store a cup of fat drippings.

Putting your head underwater is strictly forbidden.

Slaughterfish went extinct and everyone was happy.

Glowing mushrooms is improper behavior for mushrooms, and you should disapprove of it.

Oh and locking doors became illegal some where down the line.

Despite their appearance, a bookshelf contains only one book. It would be a thousand years before multi-book bookcase technology was created.

When there's cataclysmic events going on, with the potential end of the world being near, and you've just recovered the key you need to end it all... hey, you might as well take a few weeks off to help rebuild an old academy. That clearly has priority.
