@killerintheline9, this is kind of important.Tannakaobi wrote: »killerintheline9 wrote: »I can't see why not?
So what kind of price are you thinking?
The Secret World has lifetime subs for $200.fromtesonlineb16_ESO wrote: »That's the only MMO I know of that had lifetime.

I think we begin to see why they don't offer this deal. Someone willing to buy a life-time subscription is almost sure to spend more over the course of the games lifetime, possibly up to 4 or 5 times as much.
It just does not seem worthwhile for them. Also, if the game does go free to play then what? It's a lot of extra work in admin, for nothing, possibly less than nothing.
So I would use that as the reason to why they don't offer a life-time subscription.

I agree with your first comment, I suspect one reason that pushed LOTRO to the hybrid model it is now was the number of 'lifers'AlexDougherty wrote: »The problem is if most of us buy a lifetime sub, we never pay again, which means the game has no income, which means it folds sooner.
Also it feels like I have to play the game if I bought the lifetime sub, I know I don't, but that's how it feels, and I don't like that.

I disagree with your second comment, because I don't have to pay I'm quite happy leaving my LOTRO characters sitting there and go back to them from time to time. Once my lifetime fee had paid for itself the 'pressure' to play simply evaporated.

$15 per month at 96 months is $1440.00 That doesn't include the 8 expansions at $40 each or the marketplace items I bought. So even at 350 euros they would lose out on $1,000 of revenue from my account. I'm pretty sure their accountants are smarter than that. If it does go for a lifetime sub then that's a clear sign that it's going F2P anyway and really no point in paying for it then.

I have two LOTRO lifetimes which I began to 'profit' from after around 12 months IIRC, maybe a bit less, they were excellent value and I suspect Turbine regretted they did that some time later, they dropped it around 2009/10 I think.
That's the only MMO I know of that had lifetime.
Star trek online has lifetime as well, still does.
