Has the Former Emperor title lost all meaning?

I have heard a lot about emp flipping/farming and have seen it in person myself. Today I was playing in Cyrodiil and ran across a level 15 Tyro ranked player that had Former Emperor as their character description. This made me wonder, has that title lost all respect?
I remember when the first emperor was throned and ZOS even did a spotlight on the website with an interview of the guy and I thought, man that guy must have played for hours and even days and had a ton of battles and repaired walls etc...
Now it seems there are former emperors everywhere. Go to Craglorn and you will probably run into at least 10 just hanging out in the main city. PvP for more than an hour and you will see that many and from all factions. There are people I recognize from the major campaigns from top 10 lists and such that I do respect for the amount of effort it takes to get that high.
To me the title doesn't mean anything anymore and has kind of ruined any lore value of PvP that was remaining. I mean what are the historians gonna chronicle 1200 emperors were throned/dethroned during the Cyrodiil war.
So, do you respect the Former Emperor Title now? Are there other things you do respect more such as high PvP rank, gear you recognize from AA/Hel Ra etc? Names from leaderboards?

I am not saying they all traded Emperor, but the vast majority did. When you have entire trains running around with every member holding the Former Emperor title, it's kind of obvious what they have been up to.

✭No, Former Emperor title has lost all meaning and respect.I'm former emp on one of my characters. Obtained in 2 days on low pop campaign. Joined as soon as it started/re-set and stayed up all night, was at the right keeps almost by myself at the right times. Got some huge defensive ticks and placed top on the leaderboard.
Think that's mainly why I dont feel anything special when I see the title. I just assume it's obtained by speed-farming some low pop campaign. Or because 200+ players already reset their points, to give the next guy in line free buffs.
I would never use the title myself, it's embarrassing when you cant back it up. I rather try to hide the fact that I have the buffs, because I know I dont deserve them. I got it by being lucky or opportunist, not by being a PvP-god.0 -

I don't think it's lost meaning because it had no meaning to start with, the same with Emperor. The players earning Emperors are very rarely the best PVP players, best natural leaders or anything you would expect from an Emperor.
They're the unemployed or students who have the most free time to sit and grind points all day, the ones ignoring important objectives or helping groups so they can stay and defend keeps alone for more points.
The Emperor title as a whole isn't really of any meaning. Farming for it was bound to happen, find me a game where there is a goal which can be achieved where players have not at some point made deals with rivals to earn things and make it easier.
I have no doubt ZOS will remove it from the game just because so many people are upset about it and complaining on the forums every day. Also note that this will only get worse because they're making 5day campaigns where more people will rush to get Emperor and fall.@Turelus - EU PC Megaserver

I would be happy to PvP even if there would be no reward at all as pvp is the reward in itself.... the bags gained in the mail should be enough reward if any, but that is my thoughts about stuff as it is...

I saw a level 30-40 ish former empress(I think it was a woman anyway, I only glanced) last time I played PvP. its obvious most of them took the easy way out to get it. just the number of them nowadays is a giveaway. The "skill" a lot of them have, is another giveaway. I have faced quite a few former emps, and.... they were not very good. at all:( you would think a "former emperor" would kick your(cant say it) but a lot of them in this game pose as much of a threat as a "normal" player. when I see someone with the former emp title, I SHOULD think "oh crap, im about to get my butt kicked" not "just another guy to kill" I think its a worthless title now, ruined by a bunch of lazy, selfish people. it needs to just be removed from the game, completely. the buffs as well. heck, maybe even EMPEROR needs to go!2 -

ThisOnePosts✭✭✭✭✭No, Former Emperor title has lost all meaning and respect.Ehhh I see it as silly, since I know for certain how most go about getting it and even still the requirements for such are to play the most and then go for the keeps or right place at the right time.
While emperor, yes that bonus is pretty sweet although it certainly does not make one invulnerable. I have 1v1 and killed emperors (and boatloads of former emperors which seem to be extremely common these days).
As others have said, if someone isn't working or doesn't have a lot of real life responsibilities, they can earn it over someone who may be a better player than them but have a job, other responsibilities, etc..
I think that system is extremely flawed. However, it doesn't make a difference to me whether someone has the former emperor title and bonuses or not nor the current ones (since those buffs will not last forever -- they'd have to be taken again). However with all of the complaints and for certain knowing people abuse this heavily from all of the admittances I've heard. Now I'm not going to say "ahh you're not my friend anymore, you do cheap things"... however it's not something I personally would do.
What there should be is an Emperor Slayer line (and title), kill x amount of emperors, get a skill line.. but you can't have that AND former emperor, kind of like WW or Vamp. I'd much rather hunt down people with buffs than spending 95% of my time in Cyrodiil or making sure I always have a scout in there watching for people trying to take keeps. Even on Wabba people boost their teammates to it, there is no true solo achievement to it whatsoever and it certainly doesn't determine who is the best player because I have killed every single one I have encountered at one point or another.0
