Tips for Vet Storm Atronachs?

Just picked up a quest called "The Storm's Call". At the stage where I have to kill 2 Vet 9 storm atronachs. They have 15k health, can't be CC'd in any way and 2-3 hit kill me. I haven't found a way to kite them, as even with bolt escape they seem to catch up to me (small space). They also apply a snare effect on me.

I'm a V9 sorcerer, 7/7 light with destro/resto staff. Have tried all the armor buffs and blocking, have tried resto staff with heal spam and basic attacks, still not enough healing to withstand the hits even through blocks. The only thing I can do is dodge his aoe successfully, but his melee just pound me to death.

Any tips at all on soloing these things?? Even with my ultimate I got it to 60% health on best try.

Drop a standard of might. Oh wait, only one class can do that.

Honestly, they aren't worth soloing. Risk vs reward and all that. Best bet is to forego the quest until you find a partner.

    Invis pots maybe ? lol

Thought atronoch ULT was ez mode for killin them + pets

Mine I did in silver, so v3-4. Remember that quest well. Did one ok, after dying .. learning zero CC works on em. then few people came in and tagged em mercilessly.

Theres an overland quest too that has fields of 3 atronochs. 15k is a biiach for sure :/

I think they are just plain 2 person mobs, not intended to be soloable. On any level.

Well they are dang impossible to solo when you are VR8 and they are VR9. IMHO they shouldn't be immune to everything. Heck one of these could take out Molag Bal or Mannimarco, don't know what they needed me to save the world for.

Edit: It was do-able with 2 and a couple of soul gems on my part ;) But no way solo and no one in the area with you. The funny part is the boss in the other room is a breeze, definitely un-balanced IMHO.

Your best bet as a sorcerer is to drop your own storm atronach ultimate and burn down the enemy storm atronach while it is occupied with punching your own atronach.

When I have solo'd them as a Vet NB, I DPS burned them as fast as possible while mitigating damage as much as I could. I didn't get too caught up in trying to heal as that means less time to DPS. Also I'd say I've gotten quite good at dodging their AOE even in close quarters (I'm primarily at DW NB) which can save you a lot of health, but not necessary if you keep the DPS pressure on.

You cannot solo them, it is that simple. Veteran storm atronarcs are worse than veteran harvesterd, much worse.

They are currently the only mob in VR content I swear when i see . Sure some of the world bosses and stuff are harder, but you can see them coming. Big ole lightening boy isn't always nice enough to let you know he is coming. 2 of them dropping on a dolmen is usually enough to at least make sure a couple people die. But at the same time i guess they are sort of fun. Some of the most fun in a mmo happens when things are going wrong, and when they show up, things are going wrong.

That quest is hard on normal too. First char a Templar had to double team them down given the high aggro chance of pulling another. My second char through was a Sorc and I dropped my own Storm Atronach to solo two of them before it expired, then had just enough ultimate built up in the middle of the third while my other pets kept it occupied.

I have solo'd Storm Atronachs as a melee Templar, but it only works in an open areas when you can give yourself space and dodge the aoe effectively. Also try to hug their butt, most of their attacks are frontal except one AoE. When they start charging for a forward assault take advantage of hitting them from behind then run.

I'm on this quest now in V4 AD (DF)...Got one to about half before the one patching nearby plastered me. Not that I wasn't about to get plastered anyway. Rather than blow my load of soul gems trying figure it out I decided to wait and find a partner for this.

If anyone in DF that still needs this wants to bang this out PM and we can set up a time.

I was able to solo the vet4 ones (as a vet4 NB, medium armor, DW daggers) by charing up veil of blades on the ghosts nearby and dropping it on the atronach.

Veil of blades=60% less damage taken, with two shades on the atronach for 15% less damage dealt.

    100*.85=85
    85*.4=34

2/3 of incoming damage ignored. You need to have enough damage output to kill it within 17.3 seconds tho, so a mana potion is recommended(warlock set doesn't hurt either)

Tip: the shades are not considered pets, but a damage debuff. As such they do not despawn if you change your bar to one that doesn't have the spell on it while they are active.

Just got to this quest myself. No one else around.

This is what really bothers me about "skill" based rpgs. Invariably you come across an enemy who is immune to every skill you have. The skills that, up until this encounter, you were encouraged to base your entire combat strategy on by the game design itself.

I don't believe this makes it a good challenge or that it is clever game design.

I've always wondered what the point of such mobs are. And, in a game where the materials and resources (ie, weapons, armor, and yes, skills) available to any given player are so varied from one to the next at the point of encountering this mob, what possible strategy the game expects us to use to defeat it.

This isn't moving the goal post just when you learned how to play. This is teaching the sucker to play, taking the goal post and then beating him/her to death with it.

Lol at general sweeping statements You cant solo them. Nightblades solo them easy, someone pointed it out up there. With a dw nonetheless. Respect. Stop thinking of drks being the only one who can do stuff is this game. And oh look. Its a sorcerer who is the thread starter. Another supposedly OP class

While I certainly agree Storm Atronachs are touch sons of BEEZ they certainly are soloable but you have to do it differently. As a NB it's really not that difficult as long as you have Veil of Blades charged and ready. Outside of that you should be at or higher than soft cap for both Resistance and Armor, have as high of Health pool as possible and have preferably 2 heals on your bar, some form of HoT and an instant something or other to fill the gap. Also use the Triad potion if you're having resource issues or the Defense potion otherwise.

Start firing off at max range and let him come to you. As soon as he's in range drop w/e defensive thing you've got like Veil of Blades and hope you can burn the rest down before it expires, or you do lol.

Yep, that's right, I started the thread as a Sorc. Couldn't solo them at V6 or V10 (prenerf) and *surprise* I asked for help on the forum, what was I thinking. But apparently you can solo them "easily". HOORAY FOR YOU!

Now if only you'd figure out how to not be a *** when making your points you'd be getting somewhere.

The good news is that particular quest is not phased out so you can at least ask friends or guildies to give you a hand. They are very hard solo, but just 1 friend and it is done quick. I don't know sorcs, but on my Templar when I choose to solo a storm atronach it is a combination of ranged spells, healing (resto staff) the Templar purge for the snare (not sure if sorcs have a way to remove conditions) and constant kiting. it is always a long long slow fight

Storm Atronarchs are barely soloable when they are alone. Only those who have keen sense of executing right abilities and using supportive items would be able to solo them(regardless of melee or ranged).

FYI: Get and/or create at least two pieces of jewelry with 1K shock resists. At 2+ resists you can stand in their AOE farts and laugh. They are very solo able this way even VR ones, no extra fighting 'skills' required. :expressionless:

Boh, I have found the storm atronachs on that quest to be very easy to solo.

    1) Charge own atronach on those neutral ghosts
    2) Have slotted Critical Surge, Crystal Fragments, Endless Fury, Inner Light and Unstable Clannfear.
    3) Use a food that gives magicka and optionally have some mana pots
    4) Press Y + left click so pet engages, then before the atronach casts his stuff that could harm the pet, summon ultimate on him.
    5) While pet was running to atronach, cast Critical Surge, the second the pet hits atronach, summon ultimate + Crystal Fragments spam.
    6) When atronatch casts nasty spell... just step to the side by a couple of steps so you'll be in the middle of two of his swirling nasty little outward going thingies.
    7) Once atronach is low health use Endless Fury, which should also often proc cheaper Crystal Fragments.
    8 ) Loot.

Now, if we want to talk about something that is challenging for real, let's talk about the eastern Stormhaven veteran outdoor boss (Ancient Altar).
That is about 10 times harder than the above.

It can be done- I did it at VR6 as a Templar. Just have a few mana pots on you and kite them around the stairs. You can jump on the edge- they can not. It is not a flawless execution but it is manageable with food buffs and if you have a healing spell. Screenshot_20140809_234055.jpg

Forgot to add- once you have cleared two of them, and you place the stones you do not have to kill the one up on the ledge. If you just sneak into place, place the stone and jump off the ledge you will be fine. At the time, when I came to the door at the top, two mobs will bug through the door- kite them down the stairs (so you don't arggro the Atronach and then sneak past it again to gain entrance into the next room. And yes, as others have said- the boss is really easy to down.
