Nightblade in PvP

Maybe it's just me, but I can't help but get extremely agro when I do PvP in this game.
Here I am fighting a DK who just stands there regen'ing his health until my stamina & magic are all gone, to which he just casually destroys me. I don't have this wonderful ability to continuously regen my health, so why does he?
Again, here I am fighting a sorc & doing well, he's nearly dead, then zap he just teleports away leaving me fighting nothing but fresh air & to chase him chews up my stamina & again we are back to them just casually killing me when my stamina is all gone.
My favourite one is when I'm pummelling someone & they just vanish, (snip). As a nightblade I do have stealth, but my stealth does not work if I'm being attacked, so why does theirs?
I don't know, maybe I just can't build my toon right. Who knows, but some of the abilities that sorc's & DK's have far out weigh mine in both damage & range.
To top it all off I have heard that they nerfed NB's, (snip), why? I'm supposed to be an assassin, but the abilities that NB's have do not allow you to be that assassin. Instead I'm just squishy cannon fodder for the rest

Could have been worse, you could have easily ganked the DK and the Sorc. then both of those would have been in here complaining NB is over-powered.

I wish people would learn there is NO fix for PvP, there never has been. It don't work in ANY game ever invented. WILL NEVER work in any game not invented yet because people will always moan if they don't win.

Wait for Spellcrafting as that's gonna blow PvP all over the place with the 100's and possibly 1000's of different char builds we will be able to make then.

It can be tricky for a NB in PvP. Depending on your build you have to get in, get that kill quickly and get out. The changes in 1.3 sound like it's going to be even harder for a NB to do this - yet again favouring the skirts and restos and the DKs in general. From all I've heard 1.3 is a huge step towards removing the Assassin NB from the game (which will be another bunch of mass unsubs if true) but we'll wait and see what happens with that. They're pretty determined to turn everyone into a mage so it'll happen eventually.

In the meantime you can be effective in PvP but you can't just go toe to toe with a good DK from a standing start. Well, not easily.

as a sorcerer I always fear the attack from a good NB in 1vs1, if they have skilled right im dead in like 3 secs, if I dont react fast enough

Turning invisible always surprises me. There's just no animation, which makes sense as otherwise it wouldn't be invisible. Maybe it needs a cheesy puff of smoke like a magician? I would actually like that.

I play a NB in PvP all the time, too. 1 v 1 combat is actually a very tiny part of it and I'd love to discuss the strategies we can use despite being currently the weakest PvP class.

As a DK, let me tell you that your statement above is wrong. DKs do not have ant ranged skills at all except for a gap closing ultimate skill (Dragon Leap). Most people don't use that skill due to the Standard ultimate which provides much better damage. Even that skill can be overcome by simply running or roll dodging away from it unless you have been shackled.

There are plenty of times I wish DKs had the ranged, high burst DPS and invisibility and escape skills that NBs have. You should count your blessings.

Sorcs, on the other hand, are exceptionally overpowered in all of these regards. They can pretty much do everything.

I feel your pain:( its pretty annoying. only thing that can really make your fight easier, is don't chase sorcs spamming BE. if you jump them, they are easy prey. but if they use BE, don't chase them. you will drain stamina.

Ok, changed my whole build, my posting the original comment was more of a vent than a complaint. I don't care if I die in PvP, I just want to be competitive in the fights (solo & group).

Strange, currently top PvP player on the EU leader boards appears to be a Nightblade.

It's a case of figuring out the best build and what works for you, use potions, food, anything that gives you that tiniest edge over your opponent. When you die don't rage, respawn and rejoin the fight. keep at it until you figure out what build works for you. With absolutely no info on your sets,weapons,abilities that you're using or any buffs nobody can really provide any helpful feedback on what you can do to better your self in PvP.

I never had any other morph. Cloak still breaks virtually instantly when you try to use it while under attack. Not always. But most of the time.

growing pains. There is no easy button like PvE. PvP is suppose to be hard. Some players are very good gamers. If you think about it, at any given time, you have 12 abilities to use.

If someone has a setup of survivability, it's going to be very hard to take them down. Likewise, if your setup is kill fast...wearing light armor, crit mundus stones, no blocking, etc etc...and someone survives your initial burst, than don't be surprised when they escape or regen health and kill you.

Pick your targets wisely, don't just CoD'esk fire and forget.

The difference in vet means little lol... its more the player imo... builds are everything in this game...

I suggest the OP keep reading in the newsgroups. You should be able to find NB's posting what works for them in response to complaints that NBs are underpowered. I'm just starting to build one and I haven't had any trouble. I've got her set up as an Archer/Alchemist with the best NB skills mixed in. As previously stated, it greatly depends on your build and play style.

One of the most fun things about this game is designing your characters. Pick something YOU like and then try to optimize it. Look for weapon and armor configs that complement the style of play you want to use. Don't over look Mages Guilds and Fighters Guild abilities. My favorite NB skills are the ones that let you get bonuses for catching your opponent off guard. Just make sure you have a backup plan if he survives your initial attack!

NB's have the tools to deal with any template from any class at any time.

Granted, it may not be as easy as some classes, but if you wanted easymode why did you pick Nightblade?

Dark Cloak almost never works for me.

If I have a DoT on me, I cast Dark Cloak, the DoT does not get removed, and the DoT damaging me takes me out of invisible.

I use Shadowy Disguise morph instead. 100% added Crit rate is a far better bonus for me.
I can easily crit on people with 8 pieces of Impenetrable gear.

Thank you for clarifying. I'm also almost never around siege weapons, so it's entirely possible it works against those and I would not have noticed.
When I am out ganking and PKing I noticed that things like Bleeds and Magic based DoTs would break it for me.
I swapped to Shadowy Disguise because at least that helped me offensively, whereas Dark Cloak wasn't helping me defensively as I had hoped it would.

I'm an assassin NB and I'm excited for the new sets in 1.3. If all goes according to plan, the right sets should raise my weapon crit to 70-80%, and I can easily pick off people in groups as long as their healers aren't paying super good attention and get back into stealth currently. I may not be able to jump into a crowd with AOEs and kill everyone, but I can certainly turn the tide of a battle one stealth kill at a time. Dead people hoping for a rez make great bait, too.

So yeah, stamina assassin nightblades may not be the best build from an overall damage or survivability standpoint, but it's still loads of fun and I get plenty of quick kills on people with my bow and reaper's mark.

As for the dark cloak vs shadowy disguise discussion, I chose dark cloak. For offensive PvP, it's a must in my opinion. The way people pour oil in keeps, I'd never run into one without it.
