Against numbers like that, you pretty much have to get 70% of them instantly to stand a chance.

I did lots of bombing in Daoc mainly on mid and hib, as a guild we never thought that we could kill a zerg of 50+ what the plan was to gain a huge amount of RP's in a short space of time. Each bomb we did we would gain around 20k+ each and they got around 50rps each for killing us. It was also a good way to slow down the zerg to allow other groups to get to keeps that we as a realm thought they would hit next.
We normally ran a tank train and we use to take out 3 or 4 groups running together also, we only switched to the bombers when the huge zerg started to form up. In Eso its too spell crazy atm.
Death in Daoc gave you a debuff something that this game should have. Death atm is pointless, rezzing should be more beneficial then releasing to nearest keep hence zerg bombing in daoc not only slowed the zerg down it also weakened them!
