Yep, because normal people want this and will pay for this.
    http://steamcharts.com/

Oh look. It seems they do, and you're still wrong.

Nice try, though. Keep living in your bubble, carebears. It's poppin' this year whether you want it or not, and there is NOTHING you can do about it.

Sure there is. There always is something I can do.

    Not play.

Seriously, if a game I'm playing starts to change the rules to something I don't want and won't enjoy, I'll stop playing.

If there were as many things that I didn't like and can't stand in ESO as there seem to be for you, I would have unsubbed after the first month because, clearly, it wasn't going to be something I want to play.

Attempting to insult other players who don't have psychopathic tendencies by calling them carebears is rather pointless. Only the people who use that term for other players are offended by it. If I'm a carebear, so what? I don't pvp because of players like you, and the people I group with for some of the content are also playing the game for fun and enjoyment.

If the mmo games go away, oh well. See, I played for years without ever bothering to admit that mmo games existed. If they go away, I go back to playing single player games. I have hundreds of hours in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. About the only thing I would miss from ESO are the new friends I've found while playing.

    You're very wrong.

Most of the people in this thread are. You guys are going to have a bad time over the next year when the sandbox MMOs start dropping. You really are.

And honestly? I cannot wait. You will see how it feels to have been ignored, like us who enjoyed vanilla UO have been ignored for the past decade, in favor of hand holding gear grinds.

Guess what? They're failing. They'll continue to fail, because everyone has already done this before, and now we're bored.

I have work to do now. Enjoy the thread. But remember: You're wrong. $50 million in donations to Star Citizen is just the tip of the iceberg for how bad people want emergent gameplay and true freedom in a game world. We're just getting started.

Prepare to be killed, looted, cooked, and eaten.

    Not hardly.

Really, if the game isn't something that I want to play, I'm not going to be playing. All of the people who want emergent gameplay and true freedom will have to kill, loot, and cannibalize each other.

Those players who don't want to deal with players who want to kill, loot, cook and eat other players will be cheerfully playing a different game.

Why would we have a "bad time over the next year" if you are off playing some other game? Good luck to you and enjoy your time there. I don't see how that would effect anyone else at all. All seven of you leaving is not going to sink this ship.

If the codebase is such a pile of spaghetti that it would be a chore to implement it likely needs refactoring anyway.

Actually, I hope the crowd that does want full-world ganking and stealing from players do go these sandboxes, so they stop asking for it in ESO.

Seems like too much trouble to implement. Especially since I get the idea that only an extreme few want this...

They've been given these ideal games many times...just for some reason the games don't pull in enough people to stay afloat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As someone who enjoys PVP, has played in a lot of PVP gank MMO's which I do like and think they're exciting I have to say that to suggest this idea for ESO is at best dumb.

No really it's that bad and probably more but I can only say so much before I get yet another mod warning.

I would un-sub and leave ESO in a heartbeat if this was implemented.
Ain't nobody got time to constantly re-forge gear because a bunch of sociopaths get their e-peen rigid over stealing dead player's loots.

This idea would practically kill pvp, simply for the fact that once you died the first time you would have to leave pvp and go make some more gear. What fun is pvp if everytime you die, you have to leave pvp and grind out a new set of armor, or hope you had an extra set lying around.

On top of this, since every player's loot in instanced, meaning everyone gets their own loot from kills, either everyone would get the deceased's armor set or they would make it first come first serve so some random prick who fired one arrow at the deceased would likely grab all the loot. There would have to be a lot of drastic changes to the loot systems and kill credit systems in this game before an idea like this could even be considered. Zenimax would either have to make it so that the person who did the most damage gets the loot (which means anyone under v12 may as well give up any hopes on getting loot) or whoever gets the last hit will get the loot and this would of course bring an uprising of kill steals.

I could support this idea if it were given it's own server, but I wouldn't be playing on that server and I don't know anyone who would. As has been mentioned already, a lot of people have very stressful lives and we don't want to come home and try to relax by playing a game which is only going to further stress us. Having mobs of preteens running around jumping players to kill them and steal their loot was something we saw in Runescape and it did not fare well with most players.

    Lyrro,

Was said as a Tongue in Cheek suggestion. I think any sort of PvP instituted into the Single Player ESO game experience is going to be fraught with danger and problems for ZOS.

Sure, let them add a cyrodil shard with this ruleset. It will be nearly empty, because only a handful of crazies want something like this.

Oooh. A full loot Cyrodiil campaign sounds good. Can keep all the sociopaths locked away in one spot. And the tech to do a different campaign instance is already in place! Win-Win!

Ive never seen so much name calling in one thread. Dude didn't even ask to make the whole game like this, just a mode or shard or something you could opt into, yet we still have people in the thread threatening to quit.

Ive not sure I've ever seen such an over reaction to something that would not even affect you.

    Delith,

You are somewhat misinformed as to how things work in ESO. The names you see here in the Forums are not 'Real-ID' names, and generally have no correlation to in-game IDs. So, you are not going to be hunting down anyone here.

In addition, you are not going to bathe in much of anything since the Justice System will be fully optional, and I doubt many will engage in it. This is, after all, a PvE centric game, despite what the huge Cyrodill populations might imply!

Lastly, if you should be so foolish as to flag yourself as a 'Guard', I expect the roaming gangs of VR12 griefers will clean your clock and put an end to your nonsense quite rapidly.

How do you intend to do this? Only NPC's and players who "break the law" will be killable outside of Cyrodiil. You appear to be all hat, no cattle.

How about we run a RNG every hour of playtime and you have a chance to lose everything you have in your bag?

In all seriousness, most of the gear in the game is bound when using. They consciously implemented that to keep items rare in the game economy. You couldn't allow those to drop without a redesign of the economy system. And if you tried to allow bound items to drop in the PvP instance, there'd be people exploiting that to trade bound gear.

    Hi
Ugh it's hard to get a constructive comment amongst all this unneccesary rage, over-quoting and ***.
However, if anyone even bothers to sift through it, and goes this far into the thread, what I'd like to see is a consensual 1v1 duel system with full loot, catering to the hardcore, to the adrenaline seekers, or those who want to gamble with their gear. Aye, that would definitely add a spark to PvP.
..Must remember not to play drunk if this comes in! :P All consensual ofc - no harm. At all. :)

If this was ever implemented , i would fill my inventory with the white 0g loot found on tables etc , put everything thats worth a crap in the bank and run naked through the area just so just for fun o:)

This type of game is coming back whether people like it or not. Everyone's tired of the mindless grind, and equally as tired of relying on indie developers who cannot create an MMO that appeals to both people who want to remain safe and those who want to challenge themselves.

Darkfall is not a good suggestion; it's a poorly made game, with terrible combat, and makes no attempt to protect the players who do not want to be involved in the PvP.

    lol no it's dead jim.

If you really want a full loot server go play Mortal online. It is probably the most difficult and best example of a true PvP sandbox rpgmmo out right now. When its nighttime its dark, using a torch just puts a bull's eye on your back. The PK is so frequent that they should change the name to Naked Online. The game is pretty amazing, but the frustration level for new players is unreal. Sometimes the chat raging is like the 12 year olds in CoD on steroids. Of course that's still pretty freaking hilarious.

Honestly I would probably prefer a game like SWG PreCU over all of those but I don't think SWG even at its prime had even half a million subs.
EQN is being designed around the very idea of attracting those who loved pre-CU SWG into a modern design, but without the burden of Lucas and legal entanglements that caused a lot of trouble for SWG.

Only time will tell if they are successful in resurrecting the glory years of SWG's sandbox play style (building cities and all), but it is actually looking really good so far. SOE Live hits in only a few weeks, so we'll learn more then.
