VR3 Flooded Grove: Defeat Orthenir,....how?

Hes like an icemage healer he casts the typical long ice spell and self heals,... every damned second. I gave up after fighting him for about 10 minutes. Even interrupting his heals very quickly makes no difference, he just wont go down. I'd ask my guild for help but I'm sure its a phased quest. Anyone have any tips? Is there something I'm missing?

Try again afetr server reboot. Most VR mobs are still broken.

By most, he means a very select few.

Is Orthenir just healing himself too quickly? Have you tried getting someone else to help (I forget if that quest is solo)?

It looks like a solo phased quest and yes he casts the typical self heal every other second. He has massive hp and that heal could probably fully heal him in 3 seconds. I wouldn't know for sure though cause he never drops under 80%

That definitely sounds like he's bugged, and I don't think it has anything to do with the VR difficulty bug. Maybe open a support ticket.

@vlaxitov Having the same problem with him. I managed the prior fights in this quest pretty well, but Orthenir seems to have unusually high HP and self heals, and he doesn't seem to drop below the ~80% mark that you mention, despite my rapid interruptions and full damage to him. I tried for awhile last night, but had to log off. Maybe it did have a 'bug', so I'll give it a go again now

Facing the same problem. I got him to maybe 60% hp, then he does a massive heal that I can't interrupt.

Is this the priest whom Hermaeus Mora wants you to kill? Was eventually able to kill him last night by dropping a DPS ultimate banner. He didn't do a great deal of unavoidable damage by himself, so I was able to last long enough to build it up. You probably want to use one that does damage over time.

I was able to finish him last night as a V3 Sorc/Flame staves- after 45 min. I dropped my Ultimate Atronach twice, and the second time I had a pet and lots of magic left, so I nuked w/ destructive reach and elemental blockade. I never thought this guy was going down, but I stuck w/ it and finally prevailed! Just keep at him, his self heals are massive but he doesn't do that much damage.

I finally got him once I got his health to a little below 50%, hit him with my ultimate which stunned him long enough for me to start pelting him with lightening strikes and then he finally went down.. It took forever .. I think at some point i had to hit him with some poisoned arrows too .

Need to stun and do as much damage as you can. Or do it with 2.

There are few powers that reduce targets healing in. People mostly use those in pvp, but in some (rare) occasions might be very viable in pve bosses too. Just a thought

I was able to do it on the first try with one hand and shield. You have to block every time he starts to heal and then knock him down with a fully powered swing. You should boost your stamina too to make sure you don't run out.

Sorry, don't understand. I face rolled him. Start looking at your equipment and abilities. If you have items that are lvl below 48 then maybe, just maybe that can be an issue.

Have killed him yesterday with melee nightblade i think it was VR8 for me. Piece of cake if you interrupt or stun or some shizzle
