Endgame motifs

Hi all :)

Being a crafter, I'd like to have all motifs in my library. At the moment, I have all blue one and the barbaric motif. I'm searching desperately all the cabinets that I find while questing but no luck so far with the 4 remaining. They are rare drops so I'm not too worried about it.

However, I would just need some clarification to where they can be found.

From a video I saw on YouTube, here are where:

- barbaric and ancient elf = V1 to V5 zones
- Daedric and primal = V6 to V10 zones
- Imperial = Lv1-50 zones

Is that the case? And for the imperial one, can it still be found in vet zones or do I need to go back to the lower level zones?

Thanks?

Daedric & primal are both found in VR5 or at least I was VR5 when I got there. Its 1st zone you hit in the Daggerfall covenant

Also take into account when searching for the vr1-10 motifs, specifically the Daed and AE, the game is so lazily coded that when devs 'lowered' the drop rate for these patterns, they actually just removed damn near every basket/cabinet that would have them. Think of it as creating 1 basket and 1 cabinet that have the pattern and simply copy/pasting the entire zone with it then instead of actually trying to properly place the items in multiple areas, they simply remove the coded item that drops them.

tl;dr: There is a reason these are damn hard to find now when just 2 months ago we found them in a drawer and just logged in and out 30 times to get 30 deadric patterns. GL in your hunt ;) you will need it.

Speaking from my own personal experience I have been playing since beta and have never found an imperial motif. My main is an imperial so I can craft imperial style without it. As far as the other rare motifs I have found all of mine in the VR zones, but not in any specific area or level. They seem really random and I have found more barbaric then any of the others styles, while a buddy has found more daedric, but not one barbaric.

This weekend i picked up three blue motifs in less then an hour while completing quests with a low level character. I don't hunt for motifs and it appears the locations are random, but some people have said there is specific areas where they have continuously found motifs.

There was some talk a few weeks back that motifs had been nerfed because of farming, but I don't know if that has been changed. I do know the chat prices have dropped considerably so if your patient you maybe able to get one for a decent price. I saw daedric this weekend selling for 25k with 100 void ingots and 100 daedric hearts which is a pretty good deal.

I can see where you're coming from, it does sound like a good deal. Especially, for the daedra heart.

However, I do feel that these prices are ridiculous though. Paying 30k, 40k or even 50k for a motif is just being lazy and not clever IMO when you will eventually find it while questing or maybe a buddy or clanny will eventually give it to you. That's what I'd do. I can think of a better thing to do with 50k, like increasing bank space or buy enchants to lvl up (damn it's not half hard to lvl up that one lol). 150k for imperial... No thank you!

Well thanks for your answers, it's much appreciated. Now if anybody has spares 11 to 15 motifs to give away, let me know lol

There are new armor sets coming out that were announced in the Future of ESO panel at Quakecon but I don't know if they're motiffs. For Daedric Imperial you use a certain workbench and while not clear it sounds like you do the same for the new alliance specific PvP armors. Maybe Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild will shoot you a motiff during the questline.

It would be nice to see some new motifs, but I hope they can offer something other than the open-toed sandal or the sky scrapper shoulder pad look. Some of these design choices make my character look like the devs were taking their armor ideas from the evil aliens on Power Rangers either that or they were letting their 8 year old design them.

Basically correct, but you don't HAVE to be these levels. Technically,

Barbaric and Primal are in Cadwell's Silver zones.
Daedric and Ancient Elf are in Cadwell's Gold.

Imperial can be found in all zones.

I'd like to see the wolf armour set (can't remember the exact name now) from Skyrim that you get from the companions for those who play as werewolves like me, or something along this lines. The vampire armour from Skyrim was good as well.

I hope they make the thieves armour craftable too. It would fit nicely on my two handed redguard archer. I don't think you should get the motif when completing the thieves quest otherwise anyone who does the quest get it and it wouldn't make it special. Finding it in crates like the others would be worse. No one wants to see a lv20 with thieve armor when he's not even completed any thief quest. Perhaps a special item after completing 100 heist jobs or something like that...

Depending on the length of the questline it might be appropriate to have it be a quest reward. As a faction armor I assume it would go the same route as the Fighter's Guild and Mage's Guild sets. Although, in past ES games for both DB and TG you got the armor fairly early in the questline (with some ability to get a better version later) so who knows.

It's really simple. ANY motif, can be found in ANY zone, by a player of ANY level.

I found two Imperial motifs on my characters who were level 8 and 15 at the time in a noob zone.

    It's actually not that simple.

You can get regular racial motifs in any zone at any level. Veteran motifs (Barbaric, Primal, Ancient Elf, Daedric) are only found once you get to VR zones. And those are split again, so that Barbaric and Primal are found in the VR1+ area, and Daedric and Ancient Elf only in VR6+.

wrong. imperial motifs drop everywhere. the other 13 ones have restrictions to zones. make your homework before posting. thx ;)

also that is not correct. the motifs1-9 only drop in the 1-50 zones.
they cannot drop in the vet areas.

I picked up an Argonian motif in Craglorn the other day, so that's not the case.

Yes, because the drop rate for Imperial motifs is significantly lower than other motifs.
