If I, the Vestige, has no soul ... can I be seen in a mirror?
This thought was triggered by my watching of the original Dark Shadows series. In one part, shortly after Barnabas Collins is introduced (as a very monstrous monster who has done unspeakble things), Dr Julia Hoffman, investigating the disappearance, reappearance, and insanity of Maggie Evans, has a lead on Barnabas and gives him the ol' mirror test - which, of course, he fails.
The reason for classical, gothic-horror type vampires not being seen in mirrors is because they "have no soul". Well, I guess then that proves animals have souls; and so must inaminate objects (or at least spirits dwelling within them, as an animist might insist) - but I think all can agree a vampire is, in general, utterly unnatural and is lacking "something".
So. Is a Vestige like a gothic-horror vampire (and not like the somewhat more traditional, pure-mindless-monster vampires ESO has kind of harked back to - though I have met at least one pleasant, intelligent one) and can't be seen in mirrors?
Speculate away!
