I have quit playing ESO since early june. I'm thinking about returning to the game but I'm on the fence.

I would like to know what you people think of the current state of the game as it is. Is the current game worth returning to or should I wait? If you don't think the game is worth returning to, would you mind sharing why you think so?

I used to play a dragon knight (I was a blockhead and played heavy armor + 2h). What are they like right now?

Thanks for helping out!

I've enjoyed the game since beta. I enjoy it now even more and am hopeful with the proposed updates. You'll likely get your best reading for your interest levels by just coming back and trying. It's just $15.

Also, if you're worried about your performance as a HA/2h user, VR levels have been vastly reduced in challenge, so you might find that content you struggled with (that might have turned you off to the game) is much easier.

If you didn't enjoy the game in June, I don't see why you'd enjoy it now. It's the same game. If you rage quit and are reconsidering that decision, then that might be something.

Personally, I've been playing pretty much every day since early release and I'm still having fun.

Depend on why you quit... My heavy wearing DK friends never had an issue though they were sword and board so I don't know if that was a large leap better than 2H...
If you quit because dresses and staff was just way better than how you wanted to play then that is still the case so I'd say stay away. If you just couldn't deal with quest bugs then come back as most are fixed or get fixed quickly.

    So what made you leave?

In terms of basic quality, ESO is in a much better place now that it was at the end of May.

That being said, all the same underdeveloped features are still underdeveloped. All the same design mistakes are still here.

ESO is being transitioned to a more Single-Player experience, and the plan is to continue that trend.

Sorcerer remains the OP class of the day. Other classes can be played effectively, but are pretty much restricted to one build and one style of play. In terms of 'end-game' PvE content though, Sorcerer is still the most desired class.

ESO is fun, if played the 'correct' way. Played as if were a normal MMO, it is not much fun at all.

Been playing since beta. Enjoying the game. Seen many quit, and many more who are staying.

If it didn't interest you in June, I doubt you'll like it now. People still tell you stamina abilities can't hold up to magicka, even though plenty of us prove that the game is more than passable and we're competitive in PvP. People still claim DK's are useless after their nerf, even though they are on all the leadersboards just as much as the next class.

I'm a hardcore nightblade, and I'm still being told that we're broken, when I've got no problem doing what I'm doing and how I'm doing it, *without* wearing light armor and holding a staff.

If you were talked out of ESO by the negative opinions of others, the game won't be any better today, tomorrow, or a year from now. Haters are going to hate, whether they have facts or are just spouting opinions.

He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

This game is evolving and improving at an incredible rate. I am absolutely floored by all the additions announced at quakecon that are heading our way.

This MMO isn't like others where you can expect more of the same, here you can expect it to evolve, change and develop.

    Justice system
    pvp dungeons
    spell crafting
    Massive increase in armor customization
    Realistic npc animations for speech
    Player housing (much later)
(weapon skill lines and armor are being working on, with some improvements already released)

All in the pipe headed our way.

There have been good changes, and the game does keep improving. IF I had unsubbed before, I would personally probably wait for the provisioning change Gina posted about and the Justice system to be implemented before resubbing and see how those played out. The guild changes that were discussed, too...

But again, it depends on why you quite before... If it was because of bots, I don't hear the complaints about those like I used to, and I haven't witnessed them myself in a while, so there I see an improvement (in my own experience).

The gold farmer hackers are still here. Most are using Z-Plane hacks and cannot be seen at all. You can tell when one is around as you will be going to harvest a node and it will just vanish.

The bot farmer groups one used to see are indeed gone. However, that is primarily because the loots they used to farm are also now gone. Unfortunately, the loots are also now gone for the legitimate players.

I've been playing since Beta, and I still enjoy the game tremendously. You don't specify what made you grow tired of the game, so it is hard to advise.

I'll describe the sense I have of the game, and my playstyle, and perhaps that will help. I very much come form an Elder Scrolls tradition (lore is important), rather than an MMO, therefore I play at a slow pace and take the time to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the game. I enjoy questing, crafting, searching for skyshards, and combat. I also very much enjoy partnering with guildmates and random players throughout the world to do quests and dungeons.
I think the key element to enjoying the game is to leave ambition aside (the desire to race through content to level up) and cultivate your own imagination so that you actually inhabit the world and be a part of the wonderful stories that are at the heart of ESO.

Saw someone post the other day. Said 'I hate quests'.

Saw another guy in beta state, 'there needs to be dragon people to play as'.

One guy complained because the maps are too large and he's tired of running past useless buildings with no quests or capture points.

Another player seemed to think that having stealth options for anyone except nightblades makes the entire nightblade class useless.

Still another thought that all the voice dialogue and graphic improvements and lighting, etc, was a complete waste of development resources.

A lot of the bugs and major phasing issues that were such a pain around release have been fixed. There are still some class balance problems but nothing major. Don't let the nay-sayers tell you that only dress-n-staff builds are viable builds.

If you quit because of frustration with the game play, remember that the first 6 months of any game are basically an extended beta. If you quit because the design choices rubbed you the wong way then you'll not enjoy it any more now than you did then, improved gameplay or no.

With patch 1.3 on the horizon and a smoother path from 50 through VR ranks, it'll probably be less grindy getting to Craglorn, which is being expanded. There is some really neat stuff coming down the pipe that I'm excited about, too.

Honestly, try it for a month. It's $15 dollars, or Fiddy Cent a day. If you like it, welcome back, if not, that's a week's worth of Starbuck's you probably won't miss anyway.

There is only one god and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: “Not today...”

"We read fantasy to find the colors again, I think. To taste strong spices and hear the songs the sirens sang. There is something old and true in fantasy that speaks to something deep within us, to the child who dreamt that one day he would hunt the forests of the night, and feast beneath the hollow hills, and find a love to last forever somewhere south of Oz and north of Shangri-La."

I don't know if that's true. I got together with my brother the other day (he hadn't played in a month's time). I had completed a zone that he was only halfway through. I told him that we'd be out of phase and invisible if we grouped. I went through a number of quests with him (that I had already completed) without any problems. I wasn't able to see the quest givers, but every other aspect of the quest was fine, including his visibility.

My honest opinion contains banned vocabulary.

Suffice it to say if you left because of bugs, they haven't gotten them down to a level I would even deem manageable yet.

If you left because the game went stale, they haven't added any meaningful horizontal progression, and the vertical progression won't see an overhaul until August (not long from now).

If you left because your Night blade or Templar was bad at everything, they haven't made them any more viable outside of the existing narrow scope of optimal builds.

If you left because of PvP imbalance, exploitation, and greifing, they've made one particularly bad change (maybe lazy is a more appropriate description) to fiery reach to stop a fraction of it, but organized keep trading for emperor is for the most part still common.

In general not much has changed in ESO, and in some cases it's gotten worse, so if you left for any given reason odds are that reason is still around. Hold off for the next major update (1.3) and you'll see a changed ESO. Us die hards will still be here when/if you decide to come back.

grouping/phasing is only an issue with a handful of quests in each zone, people complaining about that are really just looking for something to cry about. I group with my guild all the time and we are all different levels and hardly ever can we not do something due to being in a different phase, not every quest you do changes the environment such that phasing matters.
