Three Minutes, 28 Seconds

Yes, post patch now when I log in, from the moment I enter my password to when I see the character select I have to wait 3 minutes, 28 seconds watching the loading screen. That would be a great time if I was riding a bull in the rodeo, had that long of stamina in bed, or only had that time left till I started a vacation from work. It is totally NOT acceptable amount of time when I am logging into the game.

Also noted post patch 1.2.6 I lost all character movement keys after a battle. WASD and Jump all stopped working, but all other commands and keyboard functions worked. I could even type WASD in the chat window, but for movement it just ceased. This happened twice, reclogging did fix it, but this is another unacceptable bug introduced with this patch of nothingness.

I am really considering unsubbing and waiting till about update 5 till all this **** is fixed, including werewolves.

    Did you reboot your PC?

You should always reboot your PC after you update any software (so I was told).

When you first log in after a patch, it takes a while. Always has.

Once that initial log in is done then the delay is normal. Of course this can vary from a few seconds to maybe a minute during really busy times once the first post patch log in is done.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Every patch day (when everyone is still pulling the patch down) the main world servers are slow.

Its like the patch servers and the game servers share the same internet pipe so when the patch servers get hammered, the game servers are slow.

OMG 3 minutes? You should put in a ticket for that waste of time back to your account.

This is normal in most games after a patch.

That's odd. I thought 7 seconds was a good time for bull riding. ;)

    Steps to fixing:
    1: Relog
2: Exit and log in again
    3: Reboot
    4: submit a ticket

This has been "Steps to Fixing an Issue in 10 seconds". Tune in next time.

Edit: Oh, and you have to stay on the bull for 8 seconds for the ride to count.

It takes time for servers to cache new data and move them to active memory.

More people playing / time = better loading times from server side.

Its simply limit of todays server technology and data warehouse technology.

EDIT: Unsubing wont help , unless you start working on new data warehouse technology .

It is a one time load cycle. Subsequent logins will proceed at the normal rate.

Paske, thank you for such an insightful post. +1 to you.

Oh, and another suggestion...try arrow keys before you unsub.

I just patched the game at lunch, it was a small patch size wise. Log in afterwards was normal in delay, both to the character select screen and to load a character. Note, by normal, I don't mean post patch normal, I mean everyday normal. Will it be worse during prime time? Maybe.

Maybe...depends on how fast they get home from work/school/football practice/...whatever.

The two times I lost control I DID try the arrow keys, and on the second time tried to rebind my keys as well. only re-logging fixed it. If this continues to occur it will render the game literally unplayable for me. Unplayable=unpayable.

The getting stuck and unable to do anything in combat isn't a new issue, you may've been particularly unlucky today.

    This.

OP, just curious, do you time every login down to the second or just this one?

had that long of stamina in bed
Are you saying you can't even last three and a half minutes? I would hate myself if that were all I had...

On topic though, as others have said, it's usually a one-time loading cycle. It shouldn't happen again until the next patch.

It's one time loading, although I've found that switching from main to PTS server the first time has a long load, and then back again. On second log in, on either server it goes back to a normal 'quick' load screen.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

First world problems are funny to read. I can make coffee, pet my bunnies, throw a few darts and look outside my window for three minutes which is pretty fun! Just another patch delay thingy mate, nothing to worry about.
