Just a quick question:
Do you think Mage light/Inner light really has a 12m detection radius?
I'm using this skill for quite a while now, but i can't see stealthed players until i step on their feet. So i assume something isn't working correctly. Please share your experience with Mage light and what you think.

✭✭✭✭✭There may be other factors. The magelight/inner-light reveals them 12m from you. But other players can have passives that shortens their detectable radius, which may counteract it.

Even when i know where he is, and go to that exact spot, he only becomes visible when i am very very close, and at that distance he would become visible anyway, magelight on or off.0

Could you explain to me what "passives" a Nord Sorcerer in Heavy - Light armour has towards their stealth?
And that is an example. Yes I would understand Khajiit, Bosmers, medium armour usage, however when you see any other class than NB in full heavy armour, been hidden with simple crouch up to 5cm from your location, then clearly the ability isn't working.
The funny bit is that I can spot NBs in medium armour further away, than someone in Heavy armour.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭Passives which reduce stealth detection radius work against magelight, so if you're trying to detect khajiit or wood elves who have that racial it will be less effective.
There's also lag to factor in - magelight doesnt just instantly reveal stealthed enemies, it's a sort of transitional fade into view over about a second, and if you're in cyrodiil where there's always notorious lag (both framerate-related as well as latency/ping related), and you're moving towards an enemy while they're moving towards you, they can easily get within melee range before you spot them.PS4 / NA

Yes that's also what I believe.
If someone has passives, improvements to stealth then this will factor in. Your 12m could be lowered to maybe 6 or even less. See it as a precaution, while you can improve your "sight" - they can improve their "stealth".0 -

Maybe not everyone... But in PVP zones, most (and I stress MOST) will. Much more so than PVE players. PVP players build their toons in a much much different way than PVE players do.0 -
Lyrro✭✭✭I had an instance today where I was following a dc argonian who was sneaking. Despite being only a few short feet away, he would randomly go invisible while I was keeping mages light up.

✭Yes, definitely 12mI'm pretty sure it does but understand that most night-blades, the Kajeet in particular, have a number of abilities that lower their detection radius, which in Elder Venn Diagrams Online, effects the amount of time you have to react to them and makes it much easier for them to find you first. In addition to the racial, medium armor passives, and potential armor set bonuses you could reduce that radius by more than 50%.“Whatever.”

✭✭✭✭No, absolutely notI think mage light is working passively now against stealth. Rather than taking a player out of stealth it is revealing them and making them targetable while still in stealth. You can see this happen by knocking a player in stealth into the air while in the range of mage light. He will disappear mid air because he has left the range of the passive mage light. If the mage light actually toggled him out of stealth he would not be able to disappear while falling.
Mage light is like a flash light right now. If you shine it on a rock you will see the rock, but if you point your flash light away the rock will disappear. It doesn't seem to do anything to the actual rock at all.
