Can you choose which faction's zones you get to after lvl 50?

Hi, when I reach VR1 I should be able to gain access to the zones of other alliances. Will I get access to both, or just one? And -- most importantly -- will I be able to choose which one? Thanks!

As far as I know...........NO ........ which makes sense you want all VR1 characters playing together and not "split up".

you get access to one new alliance zones and you cant choose which one because it depends on your starting alliance

Depending on your starting faction you'll be sent to one or the other of the other factions for VR1-VR5 (Cadwell's Silver) then you'll go to the third for VR6-VR10 (Cadwell's Gold).

    No choice here.

So we always go to the same faction depending on your starting faction? Ok I'm relieved to hear that! I was worried that my partner and I would have a chance of being separated when reaching vr1. Which would suck immensely. Thank you. :)

Ebonheart Pact goes to Daggerfall Covenant for VR1, Daggerfall Covenant goes to Aldmeri Dominion for VR1, Aldmeri Dominion goes to Ebonheart Pact for VR1.

yeah im AD and started in ebonheart for VR wish they had done the VR stuff differently though.

do a big quest chain see the VR xp bar light up then think to yourself did that move at all.

just doesn't seem as you are making any progress they should have made it 50 VR levels and have xp move along at the same rate as 1-50.

But other than gear those VR levels mean NOTHING. So whether the bar moves a LOT or a little really doesn't matter. Your not really gaining much of anything.

There was MEANT to be a lack of progression in VR levels so PVP wouldn't be wildly affected.

DIDNT work out that way. We got BOTH lack of progression AND it VASTLY affects PVP.

A VR12 is CRAZY stronger than a VR1....go figure lol.

Of course it seems like it... one vr zone is basically one vr lvl so you need to divide that 5 vr levels to 1-50 progression. I stopped worrying about when the next level comes when hit vr and just enjoy the questing.

    Not true, especially going forward.

First, the gear means a LOT, VR12 stuff is hugely more powerful than VR1. Second, ZOS have said they'll be introducing gear-gates to lock people out of content, kind of like other games use ILevel, so you'll have to be able to wear high gear.

It's 1 to 49 really, I expected to go from 49 to 50, then level 50 and go to vet 1, but you go from 49 straight to vet 1

You are listed as "level 50" I think until you read the mail about 'welcome to veteran levels'?

Possibly, can't remember. I was surprised as I thought I still had a level left before hitting vet

It's a funny system. I thought defeating the final boss would be what caused the flip from "Level 50" to "VR1" (as that is what defines "reaching vet content").

I took my sweet time on content and finally hit V1 over weekend. My bar changed from 49 to V1 before I read the email.

It was actually a little anticlimactic since I hadnt finished the main questline yet.

Feeling pretty conflicted about having my Pact hero do quests for the Covenant next. Maybe I'll go to Cyrodiil instead.

You don't have to read the welcome mail; you automatically become VR 1 after level 49.

It seemed illogical to me you became VR1 before accepting Cadwell's SIlver, as before that the 'vet' content isn't available.

I also hit VR1 before finishing the main quest. That was kind of frustrating, because although it calls you VR1, you can't get any veteran points until you're in a veteran zone. So I wasn't getting XP or VP for awhile.

You got points while being in Coldharbour.

VRs gets loot off any enemy level 45 and above. Every quest once you beat the main story and go to the first VR zone is level 50.

Yes, I earned points finishing Coldharbour. The bar just moves reaaaally slow now.

Can you get around the assigned next faction zone by having a guild mate port you over to the zone of your choice? Or is it really fixed by where Caldwell sends you?

Entirely fixed by Cadwell. If you try to go elsewhere, you get the "You cannot go here at this time" (or some-such) message.

Glad it wasn't just me who thought that :P

People were going to Craglorn by porting to guildmates/friends, I thought Craglorn required Cadwell's Gold to be completed?

Slurg wants to be free to move about the cabin! I like Cadwell well enough, but he wears a pot on his head- so why does he get to decide where I can and cannot go?

Maybe it's the pot. Slurg should start a thread demanding access to this magic head gear!

I bet that would go over well.

@AngryNord No, Craglorn may be designed for Vet 11-12, but you can access it straight away at Vet 1 by talking to the Star-Gazer Herald in your capital city.

I concur. If you haven't seen it already, please have a look at my thread in which I say, in as many words, that you should be able to get to the last alliance without being required to complete Cadwell's Silver. (Although having some requirement, like being Vet 6, may be necessary to ensure you don't get annihilated by the enemies there.)

On an alt over the weekend, I went to VR1 zone (Auridon) at lvl 49.

@Enodoc‌ thanks for additional info and thread. I mostly want the skyshards, but good point, I suppose it would be like that time I walked across the border trying to get to Riften at level 14. Ah, the good old days.
