We have GOT to have a Frog vanity pet available or none of the others will matter since the world will come to an abrupt and terrible end without the Frog.
None. Given the ridiculous reactions to the things, whether they are given away as perks or part of packages or some future expansion or whatever, combined with the buggy nature of them going solid and blocking movement every few minutes, I wish the damn things had never been implemented.
With the general disservice done to the Khajiit breeds, I would like to have a cat pet and at least be able to pretend that I'm traveling with an Alfiq.
This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!
I'm not a big fan of vanity pets in MMOs. I am normally all for roleplay tools as they add to immersion, but when you see players running around dungeons with their pets running along behind them, it has the opposite affect.
You would not take your [insert pet of choice] with you cave-diving or mountain-climbing, so stop abusing animals in game *raises protest banner*
But what's more important first is to make vanity pets interesting, then after that add a Pet tab. Look at WoW's pets. Many of them are actually fun to use. There's a singing flower. There's rabbits that will breed with other peoples' rabbits and make babies. There's some blob that will eat AI critters and grow larger. Cats chase butterflies and play. There's a pug that has fun animations and sounds; it even drags it's ass on the ground. There's a skunk that will chase cats (maybe I'm not remembering that one right). I can't remember the other pets.
No, pets like the singing flower would not fit in ESO, but the point is WoW's pets are fun.
Compare it to ESO's or Rift's pets. ESO's pets are just as boring as Rifts, as pets in both games do nothing at all in. But at least Rift uses a pet tab so they don't take up inventory space and don't have to be traded around to your other characters.
ESO is currently at the bottom. Not only do the (very few) pets do nothing at all, but they take up inventory space and need to be traded to your other characters if you want them to use them.

this^^ would love to have a cat follow me she would be my Anissah, the Alfiq khajiit i saved from the streets of dune
This got me thinking. I tend to choose the pet to match the character. So my Argonian has a scuttler, my Redguard has a monkey, my Imperial gets the crab. (And maybe some day my Khajiit can have a dog. )
How do you folks decide? Or would you prefer to have the same pet on each alt (rather than having to decide, or do the bank thing each time you change characters)?
None, they're all pointless as far as I'm concerned. Although I appreciate that plenty of people feel passionately about them, I've never been able to understand why.
An actual wolf or bear....... or a dragon... or a T-REX if I can just choose anything I want??? Or a stegosaurus... hmmm this is getting fun. HAHAHAA really, a nice selection would be good HOWEVER, I don't like how they count as items for 1 character only, they should have a menu to be summoned and check whether you want it to stay on or not, for each character.
pet rat
and I would like to name it (just like we can name mounts)
