Why do you play your class? How do you like to play it?

Do you choose a class because it's statistically proven to be more powerful?

Maybe you chose that class because it's proven the weakest and you want to prove your skills.

You could just love the vicarious nature of playing that particular class and enjoy the fantasy of it.

Maybe it just looks cool.

Why did you choose your class? And since the mechanics of ESO allow for a myriad of builds, how do you like to play it?

Basically, what appeals to you about your character build?

I wanted a DPS Knight character with a simple heal spell, a Paladin of sorts.

Statistically, for DPS, I chose a lot of wrong. :p

I am a Templar as I wanted to be a healer. I didn't want to be a sorcerer, I am never a mage in mmos, and I wanted an archer/DW NB as one of my alts later on. I also thought of trying tanking and I wanted DK for that. Also, templar has a whole skill tree for healing.

I still haven't regretted this decision, though I was swearing a lot before the templar buff and I refused to go with destro staff.

I always heal in dungeons and not.because people would laugh at me if I wanted to be a dd but because I love healing. In solo, I am a 2h weapon user dd, now leveling a bow out of curiosity.

I wanted a traditional Nightblade with dual wield and bow, to go down the assassin path line and that's what I've rolled. Simple really.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

I decided to pick templar , yes i know , not a good pick.

Well anyway , i went with this pretty much because of the spear line , since the game does not have polearms/spears... in weapon form , atleast i could have some neat skills from the class.

I pretty much walk around in light armor to try to have a good amount of magicka.

Heh , often i try reconsider going sorc or DK , but i really dont have the patience to lvl another char.

PS: Wanna know the worst part of being a templar? "Smart heals".

The problem is , they are actually "*** heals". I lost count of the number of times i wanted to heal myself so i would not die and it ended up hitting another player hah. Man , how i iwish i had made a DK and i could use green dragon blood to avoid this crap.

I'd made four characters, each of a different class, each based off of characters I generally move from game to game. Brecken, the heavily armored mercenary. Ruze, the cold-blooded assassin. Na'Djin, the wondering mystic. And Gral, the overwhelming barbarian brute. Obviously they went Templar, Nightblade, Sorcerer, and then Dragonknight.

First, I chose to play a templar as my main. While I still have the character, I didn't enjoy the early levels and moved off of him to an alt. I don't care for mages often, so I left him alone. The dragonknight was powerful, but didn't feel right.

So I went to Ruze, the nightblade. Forums told me NB's were broken, and I could see some of the issues. Weapon swap delays. Power freezes. Random deaths in combat that seemed unexplainable (but eventually were proven to be times when passives stopped working).

I chose bow/dual wield, and eventually dropped the DW cause every time I switched I died. Did better sticking with the bow. And the bow was shite for damage.

I almost quit playing when I hit around 40. I remade Gral into a nightblade barbarian and was going to shelf Ruze as my crafting alt when I hit VR1, because he was so very underpowered compared to everything around me and I was dying too often.

And then there was the light at the end of the tunnel. Bug fixes each week made me a little more reliable, a little stronger. Huge patch gave me more oomph. Bow upgrades made it more dependable. Medium armor boost give me the ability to last in combat.

Plus, the most important ... somewhere in the trodge through VR1, I learned how to play. I learned when to block (probably one of the most important things I learned). I learned my rotation, and began to understand the synergies in my build. My earlier build and my current one look NOTHING alike.

Now my goal is to systematically build a Nightblade of each style. I've since gotten time (bored nights and weekends, etc) to go and play the other classes. Sorcerer tanks were fun. DK's were funky. And Templars still didn't suit me. And I just like what NB's bring to the table, probably because I know them better.

Gral is a monster as a nightblade barbarian. And after I get him through VR ranks, it'll be onto the next NB, a heavy armor sword and board ganktank. And after that, I might finally make a Nightmage and see what all this magicka hubbub is about, though that'll probably be after they nerf light armor.

I make my characters off of ideals for backstory and roleplay. Mechanics in any game are subject to change, so I just skip flavor-of-the-month crap, mostly ignore the min-maxers, and just find a way to make things work even when others say they can't.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I wanted a two handed, medium armor damage dealer/offtank when the game released. Wish that would have been possible.

I started out as a templar thinking that might be the best way to go for the self heals/buffs, ended up rerolling early on to a nightblade because I didnt like how overly flashy templar spells were, and I liked how nightblade spells tend to look more like actual weapon attacks. I wanted a character that didnt really use flashy magic, but was more of a physical combatant, so I chose nightblade for looks more than anything else.

Still ended up being the wrong choice, now all of my characters use staffs and light armor because ZOS doesnt know how the hell to balance a game.

Nightblade...Ever since I fell in love with rogues during my 3rd or so year of eq I always play rogue or assassin types in games. DAoC released around the same time and the assassin classes in that game made it a done deal. So it was pretty much a no brained deciding what to play as a main here.

I play as an archer with DW secondary. For some reason I've been all about archer and ranger types in games lately. Which works out because pure melee is under tuned in this game currently, it seems. Having range as a primary has definitely taken the sting out of playing a stamina build in their current state, in sure. Now that I've gotten my crafts where I want them I'm going to start putting points into my DW setup again and see if I can come up with a more workable setup for the veteran ranks with that. Will probably also dabble in a light/staff build as well as a ranking build at some point but that's just for completion's sake. I'm totally an archer assassin, type with this toon.

I guess it's worth noting that while assassin and rogue types ha c.f. e been my thing in games for over a decade (even bought my 360 so I could play assassin's creed before it was available for PC) I also love bards and dedicated healer types, with the occasional tank alt as well. Don't have bards here but I'm working on a templar staff healer alt as well as a sorc. Want to try a DK Tank build at some point, too.

I wanted to make a Wood Elf druid, but it turns out ESO contains nothing even vaguely nature-focused, so I decided to go Cleric/Ranger with a bow-wielding Templar; as far as class skills I only really put points into the Restoring Light tree, although I did grab Nova just to have an ultimate that wasn't channeled. I like it so far, I turn stamina into damage, and magicka into healing, but I do wish there were some buffs, or other support abilities.

I like getting to be the ranged damage-dealer mage who packs a huge punch ad tries not to take hits, the up-close tough-as-nails warrior, and the noble knight with healing powers. I got 2 out of 3.

I actually have 3 VR characters right now bun my highest is my initial character I thought of playing which is a traditional sneaky assassin type: hence DW/bow nightblade I'd probably have an easier time soloing with my DK or Sorc but I just really like the sneak and backstabbing feel of the class.

My main character is for PvP, because it's the only part of the game I still enjoy doing.

I chose to roll DragonKnight, because I was interested in tanking.
I never wanted DragonKnight because everyone was calling it 'powerful',
I mostly thought that DragonKnight was the best choice upon tanking,
considering I had tested out each class, and I found that -

    Sorcerer - AOE Speciality
    Templar - Healing Speciality
    Nightblade - DPS Speciality
    DragonKnight - Tanking/AOE Speciality

I also prefer delving into Heavy x5/Light x2
    Sword & Shield
    Restoration staff

Templar players, you really shouldn't beat yourself up for picking Templar.
Paladin's have always been healers, with little DPS.
So, I think you guys have only made one strong mistake here, by not testing out the class, or finding out what the class works out well with, and what it doesn't.

I always play the most "martial artsy" characters I can in MMORPGs. I desperately miss my Monk-style characters from Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion, and am hoping we get an Unarmed/Hand-to-Hand skill line at some point in time.

In the meantime, I've found my flavor of character in the Nightblade. I'm a huge fan of the Tribunal (particularly Vivec) so I rolled an Altmer Nightblade on the Ebonheart Pact side. I envisioned him as a mer who left the Psijic Order to study the Psijic Endeavor at the feet of Vivec. As such I play him as a master of body, mind, and spirit and a practitioner of the school of Mysticism.

In game term it's all about the nifty little "psi-blade" animations for the Ambush, Surprise Attack, and Impale skills, along with the Incapacitating Strike as the ultimate. Fill in the last 2 spots with Dark Cloak and Swallow Soul, and you have a visceral, in-your-face build that feels very much like a psychic warrior. Not to mention the GORGEOUS job it does ganking stragglers in Cyrodiil.

I think of him as the love-child of Psylocke and a Protoss Dark Templar. LOL!

Templar. I'm enjoying it too much to bother levelling any other class at the moment. I abandoned heavy armour and DW which is how I wanted to play the class initially but have since gone light caster simply because it proved more effective.

I enjoy support play and am pleased how my venture into healing is going.

PVE is challenging at times, PVP can see me fubar'd but as I hit vet levels I've started fubar'ing a few of the opposition myself so its all fair in love and war.

I selected a Sorcerer to main as there was no Necromancer class (yet...) or summon specialist available. Upon learning that the Sorcerer summons are relatively useless I decided to stick with it for the traditional (well not really) 'mage' feel. That being said, I plan on making a Templar soon as I'm quite fond of the healing role, but I'm currently in the process of levelling a DK for no real reason.

I play my character as a ranged DPS / off healer with CC capabilities.

Since open beta events i rolled a Nightblade. It was a difficult class to play. Now my main char it's a Nightblade that was a reliable tank and become a deadly assassin. I have chosen this class because you need to use your mind to play'it.
