It's a shame that at the first QuakeCon since ESO was released you chose to announce that you were selling the game on Steam, at a discount no less, with the only new pet to come available since launch unavailable to the people who have supported you since the beginning. As a long time supporter (beta tester since last September) I feel anything that you offer only to new subscribers is a slap in the face to those of us who have backed this game since the beginning. QuakeCon could have been the predecessor to a ScrollCon type event or even brought more people to QC if you had handled it correctly. Instead you dealt your subscribers a healthy dose of disappointment on opening night in the hopes of increasing your subscriber numbers. As a community this feels bad and you at the company should feel bad.

    I am taking bets on a new dog (different colour to the steam linked one or they would be breaking the rules they have with steam) will be on sale from the ESO shop after the steam sale is over.

    But again they can't say anything until the steam sale is over (or again they break the rules with steam)

    There are elebenty threads about the dog already. I think ZOS knows their subscribers are unhappy.

    You know that potion in the list can be 'brought'. Steam does not promise the order of the list match the 'real' sale volumes.

    But I do hope it is true. ESO needs new blood.

    Congrats to the OP for being the first to use the hyperbolic "slap in the face" argument. He should unsubscribe, burn all his game disks, and vow to never buy another game from Zenimax in the future.

    so you care more about a pet dog that does not really even help you, than you do about the ACTUAL PROBLEMS the game has? ok. whatever floats your boat.

    I care about how the game company treats its customers and what they value most. Offering better exclusives to people who haven't supported the game up to this point is not a way to make long-time customers happy.

    The reason it is causing so much uproar is simple. The previous pets were crap and after 5 months the only new one that they bother to introduce, that people actually want, you cannot get unless you buy the full game again on Steam.

    QuakeCon you get a pet Pig for ESO, buy the game from steam you get a pet Dog.

    I think we are going to see more and more of theses 'limited' pets.

    well, "better" in this situation, depends on preference. for example, I myself could really care less about this new pet, as I find pets to be totally useless and a waste of space. if they were like the pets from WoW(yes im a WoW fanboy) I would have used them. some people may have liked the mudcrab and the monkey that you got from pre-ordering/participating in beta(plus some 3rd pet I think I may have forgotten) granted, it is ridiculous you have to buy the entire game again, if you do want this pet. they should put it in a game shop or something. but I don't think its worth all the threads that have been made over it. course, other people have different opinions on it.

    Nah, anyone who participated in a stress test night for 30 minutes got the monkey. Closed beta testers in the long-term beta got nothing exclusive/special, for better or worse.

    Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

    I spoke with the ZOS folks at QuakeCon, yes, I have the pig, they said they are working on a Brown Wolfhound as well as a Retriever, but have not yet determined the delivery method... I suspect Pigs will be available the same way...

    I think I would prefer the Brown Wolfhound, or would that be called Red? I want to name it Oberon...
    Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

    We did get to play the game for free for about three or four months, though.

    I would love more pets of any kind. I enjoy collecting pets. It doesn't bother me if one pet variant is exclusive for some reason as long as other color variants become available over time. I enjoy pets so much, I'd make a bank character just to hold them all.

    They didn't make anything, it was already in the game files. Geesh people, stop acting like they caved to the whining.

    Sorry. They didn't disappoint me at all.

    I was a beta tester as well. I don't feel bad about not getting the dog. I haven't been slapped or dissed or whatever term you pick for your personal feelings of outrage.

    If I'd have gotten the dog, it would only have ended up deleted, like the mudcrab, monkey, whatever that other critter was. I don't like vanity pets. They take up space and make irritating noises and do nothing helpful or beneficial.

    I would much rather they fix quest glitches and problems instead of reskinning yet another annoying pet.

    I saw the new dog today in Vulkel Guard. It ran over me as it left the crafting area. I jumped out of the way only to have it's owner summon her big white horse and run me down. I was unimpressed. My little scutler and I left staying near the walls.

    But that homeless idea is great. I think all the beggars in tamirel should have a dog and wear a dyed mohawk!
