Spell crafting

Hello all. I have just watched the part of QuakeCon ESO Panel about spell crafting.
I can't wait to try it, I was hoping for something like this to be implemented, maybe not just spells, but other skills too, but it's a good start. I hope in future we will be able to learn our own 'stamina' skills like new 2 handed weapon, tanking skills etc.

    Alteration and conjuration look promising ! I want to conjure some spectral wolves or better who know spectral weapons :)

    The whole concept looks intriguing. I will love to run around the world looking for spellparts, plates and combinations. I can't wait to see, what will be possible and what not.

    It would even be cool to add a final clue to the concept: color. Lightning is blue und frost whitish blue? Fire has to be red? Well, it is magic. If you spellcraft it, you should have option to choose you own color. Green flames, yellow lightning a purple ball of frost? Imagine it, name it, create it. A personal touch of color would add even more spice to such a system. :)

    No thanks, one of the bonuses, graphically, of ESO is the muted colour palette. If I'd wanted to play W* i would have.

    HOPEFULLY Lighting and Frost builds are a THING with each of their own play style.

    Spectral Weapons im certain were in other TES games so I would expect them here as well.

    ALSO here is HOPING for a Restro group damage ward line, as preventing damage is my FAVORITE healing type just to be different from everybody else.

    You're not alone in this regard. I'd much rather my comrades not get hurt then have them hurt so I have to heal them. Call me crazy, but is it not wiser to stop the arrow than let it hit and hope it doesn't kill you?

    They should add spears with of course stamina abilities. That is my opinion I am not sure about what the rest of you guys think.

    My questions is .... Where do we get the skill points for all these glorious new things. Between this and the justice system it is starting to feel to me that core content is being released after the fact. I already have two VR level chars, will they get all the new shines retrospectively?

    I'm not usually a Negative Nelly but I had an eye opening experience this weekend which has made me see things in a new light,

    Good stuff coming. More spells and mages you say? I assume even less "warriors" then, like there were any real ones in ESO.

    Turning the game even more into "Elder Mages Online", why not make an actual Expansion calling it just that (so we don't have any illusions left anymore).

    They will be releasing more skyshards plus skill points to acquire in other ways IE quests achievements and dungeons.

    Well they are working on buffing the Stamina skill still. They have said they are looking to release more Stamina skills. I imagine they want to get them balanced 1st.

    Yeah, we can aat least suspect to get around 45 Shards with the three upcoming Zone. (At least if the "new" Craglorn will have it own shards), which means 15 new Skillpoints within this zones. And I'm sure we will see that zones earlier than Spellwarding.

    Your "muted" color palette will be gone soon anyway. And I dislike your W* grafics more than you. I don't want ZOS to add more colors. Those are all in the game already. We do have green and yellow, red, blue and purple magical effects already. It would just add to the choice of personal diversification to become the "green" mage, the yellow lightning witch etc. This would change nothing in the way of how Tamriel looks like. But we will get dyes and an FX overhaul anyway. ;)

    The fact there's going to be a conjuration tree in which you can summon a Flame Atronach yet Sorcerers who have a specific Daedric Summoning tree cannot is sort of up in air.

    I can see the removal of the class system if this works out well.

    The class system will 99% never be removed. Classes give characters a starting point for abilities. Spellcrafting will give you access to more spells but at a MUCH slower pace than we are used to getting spells from the class line.

    I will admit that its strange I believe Flame Atronachs are summoned in the game by other npcs but yet we need an ancient long lost forgotten "art" to learn to summon them.

    I wonder how well a Sorcerer plays with 4-5 pets.......they also mentioned having to make the pets permanent which makes me think you can have 30s pet that you can use on 1 hot bar then weapon swap to a hot bar with abilities till the pets run out.....maybe the Devs have been listening and SpellCrafting is the answer for better pets.

    Loved the spell crafting. I had a Summoner that could summon 6 minions at once, by the end of the game . All I had to do has summon them and stand back and watch.

    You have the basics of most if not all of the magic schools. Destruction, restoration, Illusion etc. all have some base spells that most classes can use. This is just going to allow you to develop a particular school past those base abilities I think.

    Actually it was mentioned as still being in the works by Eric on a recent ESO live.

    I hope it does take them a while, because the balance problems that'll add . . .

    I bet you anything it'll be a MASSIVE grind though... we will have to find fragments of stones that will have .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of dropping and it will take months to get a single spell.

    Edit: The reason (postulating) that it isn't out now is because it was developed before b2p was in the works, so it was to be a relatively non grindy process of collecting stones and learning spells, now the devs have to find a way to inflate that content... see above drop ratio as example.

    Put it this way. The guy you saw on the panel talking about Spell Crafting quit ZOS. The single image you saw was a photoshopped enchanting interface, and the last thing we heard officially was that it's not even being worked on.

    I think this quote sums it up.

    Why the necro? Anyways, the guy left and ZOS is still trying to balance out the skills and spells that currently exist let alone worry about introducing spell customization. I mean hell, they didn't even offer us active skills for thieves guild because they are so consumed with balancing the current skills they have. They gave us passives that do nothing for PvP. I like the new content thieves guild offers but it provides nothing for character enhancement, other than novelty.

    I would love to see them add Spears back into the Elder Scrolls franchise in general. I miss them. Nothing cooler than an Argonian with a spear. :)
