Quakecon : THE FUTURE OF TESO

I know I am going to miss stuff so please help fill in the cracks:

I just watch the Quakecon presentation and it looks like ZoS is definitely headed in the right direction. Some highlights...

The Imperial City is going to be the first real PvP - PvE zone with dungeons and areas not only teaming with Daedra, but also players from other factions. There are parts of the imperial city that can be taken (like keeps in the rest of cyrodiil) and these areas offer players of the owning faction awesome bonuses (special armor sets, access to other parts of the imperial city, etc). It looks AWESOME, especially for those that played Oblivion.

They are rolling out a sweet new facial gesture system, but we probably won't see it for a long time.

They gave more details about the Justice system and how that will work. Basically, if you steal stuff and are caught, you'll have a bounty that other players can collect. Pretty sweet, huh?

They showed new features and enemies in Craglorn, new vet dungeon content, updates to dungeon replayability, and huge updates to the grouping system. They're going to better coordinate how the megaserver handles groups and how the questing system works with groups. Dungeaons will have a scaling feature to make them more replayable and give you better loot with the appropriate difficulty.

They talked about balancing builds, especially buffing stamina abilities and other passives. They also talked about a sweet new Spellcrafting system.

The Champion system was talked about and all of the stupid theories people had about it were debunked. Champion points will be put towards increasing passives associated with the divines (think mundus stones). The example they gave was The Tower, and they showed possible attributes that could be increased. And yes, there will be a limit so that players can't exploit it.

There are new armor and weapons coming out, my favorite being Imperial Daedric armor (yes you heard that correctly) that can only be crafted in one of the faction owned parts of the Imperial City.

And then there was a giant question answer session at the end that I'm not going to recap.

My final thoughts are that ZoS is maturing. They released a huge game and have huge plans. As the actual technology stabilizes, they have more time to go in and tweak the gameplay experience and add new features, and it seems like we're finally getting to that point. Another thing I noticed was how much they pay attention to the community. They understand all of the problems, they spend a ton of time on reddit and other social media learning what people are saying about the game.

Again, add anything I missed or just watch the hour and a half presentation yourself because there was too much to summarize here.

There are two new zones coming. One is Murkmire in Black Marsh and it will feature group content like Craglorn. The second is Wrothgar (which includes Orsinium) and it will feature solo (endgame?) content.

There will be a new armor type in the Imperial City rollout (Daedric Imperial or Imperial Daedric, not sure which it was). I don't know if it will be dropped armor, purchasable armor or crafted armor. At least one new motif is coming so it might be for this new armor.

The Quakecon preview had something for everyone. I was very impressed by it all.
