Now I Can't Post on Steam Forums?

Brilliant job Zenimax. Release the game late to Steam, ensuring that Steam reviewers only consist of players who started playing yesterday...instead of 3 months ago. The workaround of course, was to communicate via/Steam forums. But now you've locked those down to owners of the Steam key only? I obviously own this game and have owned it, but can't communicate on Steam's Elder Scrolls forums? The damage control techniques are getting a little out of hand.

Honestly, after all the venom being spewed there, I'm not surprised.

Not a decision I'm happy with, but we'd better not bring it up, or the anti-whine squad will be on us in a flash.

Why do you care to post there if you didn't by the game through steam?

I can only think of one reason and in that case locking down the forum was the right thing to do ...

I think my favorite part is where you blame Zenimax for Steam forum moderation. Either that or the bit where you complain about not being able to flood third-party forums with venom about a product you didn't purchase through their company.

And my favorite part is where you assume that this person was going to the forum specifically to spread hate. Just because some people don't accept things as readily as you doesn't mean they're degenerate, hate-filled monsters.

I'm not sure what my favorite part is...the part where you didn't check my link that shows ZoS_AlanG locked it down (not Steam forum moderation), or the part where you jumped to conclusions about my posting intentions. Steam is a gaming social network of sorts, and one that I have several friends on. Not being able to communicate on those forums, because I don't "own the game" (which I clearly do) is a bit ridiculous. Zenimax has effectively created 2 separate communities.

Just FYI, I can post on Steam forums for just about any game that I don't own. I was checking out X-Plane 10 Global earlier today, and can have discussions about that game without any problems.

Right. So if you bought it through steam, you can post, but if you bought it anytime before yesterday, you can't. Yet another reason why Zenimax should

That's...a very interesting question. If they can't, then Zenimax has really created a community gap here. Hmm...

I was actually wishing they did that.

Now if they actually gave us a Steam transfer.

    EDIT:
here's an interesting question, can Steam game owners post here?

Yes, they can, since they need to create an ESO account in order to play the game anyway.

Wow. This is a whole new level of infuriating.

Instead of addressing our anger, they just silence us.

Good luck with that business model in the long run, ZOS. You may bring new players in, but with behavior like this, most reasonable people are going to start having a nasty taste in their mouths when thinking about your game.

Wow they must of just closed the steam forums i posted there this morning. That forum was full of people just bashing the game it prevents people from just asking questions/help with the game which is probable why they locked it.

You can't post on a forum for the game unless you've purchased the game!

Kinda like here? You can't post on these forums unless you have an active account/time remaining on your account.

However, we -do- own the game and we can't post there. That's a bit shady. Glad I left my positive review before the lockdown.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

From the amount of stupidity on the forums, also no wonder. Still, giving a steam key to the active accounts would be better because "I tried beta for 5 whole minutes and found out the game sucks" and "I saw AngryJoe whining so this game sucks" people might still post if they also receive a steam key.

Got to feel sorry for the people who actually bought the game only to bash it and "write reviews" about it.

I pre-ordered and have been paying monthly since then.
Now I have less privileges on Steam (no time tracking, no form posts, no Steam cards, no game in library..) than people who paid cheaper and later.

Makes no sense, please Zenimax think about people who supported you.
Or you will lose at least one more customer.

Don't mistake your own way to see things with a global opinion.
You know nothing of everyone's budget, free time, past experiences [...].

Yes, there's quite a bunch of people of "supported" ZOS.
But you're right it's done for ones potential own entertainment..
..and when that turns into frustration of some kind, that's usually not the best omen.

Fine, if you LOL seeing your fetish game being slowly deserted, that's also your very own way to do things.
I usually prefered quite-crowded servers, that's what the 2M are supposed to stand for, in this kind of game.

    Peace

Because it's a policy that's specific to this game? I can post on any other Steam game forums for games that I don't own. Hell, you could even post on ESO Steam forums until the overall tone of those forums turned negative, at which point they were locked down by ZoS.

I am a Steam customer, I own 152 games and 354 DLC... I don't own ESO on Steam though. I like to read steam discussions for games I own and don't own... sometimes I'll see a discussion and want to respond. I can't respond to anything on the steam discussions for ESO so I just stopped reading things there... it's frustrating to not be able to reply.

But that is life and I've had to learn to bite my tongue online.. especially on facebook, so much I want to say to dumb people on facebook but I don't want the drama there (anymore).

But I get it you probably meant "The Steam forums are for the Steam customers who bought ESO on Steam, why do some people find that so hard to grasp?"
