I find the whole thing thoroughly entertaining. All over a scruffy looking mutt.

What I find disturbing is the lack of consideration or even slightest appreciation by Zos towards its current loyal customers. They have done very little to help build or develop any type of actual community.

Seriously, how tough is it to give a vanity pet or other in game item to current customers to say thank you? I'm not even saying it has to be a free item or anything. It could be earned. Just something attached with a "Thank you for your support". Had they given away or done anything during these first few rocky months you would not see the complaints about the promotional vanity pets.

I wouldn't be too sad if there was some mail 'error' and previous players also received the pet. It's sad that it's probably in a steam agreement somewhere that's causing this not to happen.

I totally agree with the OP. Time for this nonsense to stop. Complaining that you're not getting a free key on Steam or getting the same pet as those who buy the game from a different store to you is not remotely the same thing as trying to make the game better. It's actually the opposite, as it's distracting the developers from working on the things that will indeed make the game better.

Complaining about Steam integration, I think, is still a valid complaint. Complaining about the dog is silly at this point. The devs will be offering a dog. Arguing about getting a GREY dog instead of a BROWN dog is just ridiculous.

These forums have devolved into the worst kind of self-entitled indulgence imaginable in the last couple of days. Yes, I'm peeved we can't run ESO as a proper Steam game, and sure I'm a tiny bit miffed about the whole dog thing because frankly, a crab ranks on the cool meter about as high as a pet potato, but please for heavens sake get some perspective - it's a bloody dog!

Looking at general today, it's wave after wave after wave of moaning. At least keep it to one thread, currently there are many, you don't have to open a new one each and every time. And also, while the whole 'only able to list is as a non-steam game' is a bit of a cop-out in my opinion, let's look at some of the good that is coming our way:
    • Guild tabbards
    • Merchant kiosks
    • A dye system
    • Continuing improvements for stamina builds (though this could be a little quicker)
    • Revisions to VR which naysayers have been moaning and demanding since forever
    • And beyond that, updates we don't even know about yet

Also as for loyalty rewards, sure I'd love a few decent skins, but I was never promised any, so I'm not going to act like an ass and start demanding them. Keep a bit of perspective is all I ask, on the scale of things, this whole Steam debacle is pretty miniscule, even for someone like me who prefers all their games to be running through it.

We've got bigger fish to fry, so please stop spamming the forums with all these new threads, keep your bitching to one thread only and let the rest of us talk about something else. Remember: you're flipping out over a mangy, pixellated DOG!

    Thanks :)

Posting this again because so many just do not get it in the slightest:
"When did people become complacent. When did we stop fighting for simple things like respect. Those in this thread that have called each other names, that have bullied, or wanted to do nothing. What would it take for you to stand up for yourself? Does it have to reach a point where the subscription fee is doubled? or would you even be ok with that. Not just what would it take for you to quit the game but what would it take for you to love the game enough to actually fight to make it better and be treated fairly? Do not act like you deserve nothing. This issue may not be important to you, but how long will it be before another issues comes up that is?"
What do you want, a game that does not improve where you are treated with disrespect? Or do you want to show that something matters to you as a player so that maybe ZOS takes notice and does something about it? Better yet which player do you think ZOS appreciates more? The players that stand by simply using them to play their game and enjoy it without contributing to make it better through discussion while also criticizing anyone who does? Or the player that stands up for themselves and shows ZOS what they want and what is important to them so that they can make a better game, and in turn make more money off of not just current Subs but future new players in a way that is far more efficient then dangling a shiny toy in front of newcomers? Think before you type, if you are name calling or saying we are whining you are not being constructive nor helpful in any manor, you are being a bully. If you actually care about the game either contribute helpful information or do not comment.

This is not a Marxist Revolution man.

It is a stupid freaking pixel dog in a video game.

Like the post says which you didn't seem to even fully read. It's about making the game better and whether you think the dog is stupid or not doesn't matter, the dog is important to someone there's lots of things that are important to different people. The point in all of this is to show ZOS what is important to us to make the game better and people commenting say we are whining or feeling overly entitled are not benefiting anyone not even themselves, they are in fact doing the opposite. Say at some point there is something you want in the game how do you make the company notice that you or many people want it? Criticizing is just rude and pointless if we want to try and make the game better why do you have to comment? why not just stay out of it if you don't want to contribute? It is quite simple there are those that just wanted the dog, those that want to just make the game better in general and get ZOS to listen, and those that appear to only want to bully or brown nose ZOS is some manner. We get it you don't agree but lets take a look at the pages of chat the past day or so shall we? Who have been the ones name calling? I do not like the idea of calling someone immature but if anything is, it has been anyone who has resorted to name calling and putting others down just for trying to make the game better.

Personally? I would probably draft a formal and professional letter to Support requesting they offer a way for people other than Steam users to get a pixel pup of their very own.

Yes, the pet being meaningless is just my opinion. It is a cute welcome gift for new users, nothing more.

It is the WAY some go about voicing their concerns that bothers people. The only reason to come onto the forums and post 1000 threads instead of confronting the company directly is to try and create a scene and draw attention until you are given what you want. That is why people get offended and call it entitled whining. There are better ways to go about it.

This entire thing felt like some misguided "Occupy Puppy" movement.

All this does is create this constant "us vs. them" mentality of the poor player against the evil empire of "the company" trying to screw them at every turn. Is it any wonder the community environment gets so toxic and abrasive around here?

People need to learn that not EVERY company is the evil globalist empire. We are on the same side here! Some people should try treating ZOS with a little respect and professionalism instead of trying to shame them into giving them what they want with torrents of forum posts every time something doesn't go their way.

Before you say "but Alien, being professional and polite and emailing Support directly never accomplished anything" I would simply suggest you haven't tried.

Every time I have taken the time to send Support an email ticket they have responded quickly and with helpful detail in a respectful and professional manner.

People should learn there are better ways to communicate than with veiled threats and constant confrontational and combative public shaming.

Try not assuming that every single thing that happens is the company out to get you, for starters. Not everything is symbolic of everything else that ever went wrong with anything.

Isn't about a key or a dog....this is about everything. This includes those other things they are working on but lets say we don't complain we don't show our disapproval. ZOS sees oh ok we can get away with this sort of thing maybe we can hike the price up per month as well. Its about when does it get bad enough for you to actually say something about it? Why wait? There has been an obvious issue here since the beginning of the game and is best addressed now. Also be serious do you really think taking a few hours even out of their time is going to prevent them from releasing some giant fix for all of the current game issues....really? The OP wanted people to stop making new threads with people "whining".......what did he do? Ohhhhhh right he made a thread and according to you guys started "Whining" about everyone else whining....The only thing I will give you is that your post has been at least somewhat more constructive then the other 100 that simply say stop whining.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Look they base their decisions on large groups of peoples desires, not only this but do you know how much more difficult it is to run through 1000s of feedback reports compared to just looking on the forums seeing oh *** their pissed we should prolly fix this? Not only this but they have closed any petition made to have things changed they don't allow us to present things in that manor. There is a very large difference between Support for say a bug in game, they have helped me loads of times and I have always appreciated it, and trying to express that we want a certain content made available. This is a large group of players showing they are upset, the only ones that have been abrasive in any of this are the bully's that call people names. As for respect it is a 2 way street it always has been, by its nature a subscription game relys on its player base being happy. There have been no veiled threats, no conspiracy theorys no one starting trouble rioting again the corporation, we have been discussing something that upset an obviously EXTREMELY large number of the player base and you and plenty of others simply weren't hurt by it. So you will let us discuss amongst ourselves as most of us have done if you look at the main forum post with 18k views or so and around 23 pages of posts. And if you have a problem with how we have done things you may "Whine" about it. But you do not have any right in any way shape or form to come on and criticize any of us for expressing our opinions. The rules of the forum however do have a problem with bullying baiting trolling etc as the op as seemed to do here in this thread.

If you actually care about the game either contribute helpful information or do not comment.

See here's the rub - your argument seems to be based on the fact that ZOS has wronged us by offering a doggie to people currently buying the game, but how is that the case? The doggie was never part of the deal we entered into?

Also another argument I see is that we should get a reward for playing - we do, access to the game. Sure a loyalty reward would be nice, but how has one small sweetner for current game purchasers turned into 'we deserve a reward' for so many people?

If I feel wronged, believe me I'm the first one to point it out, but I don't feel wronged, I don't feel like ZOS offering new players something in lieu of the explorer's pack is taking advantage of existing players. I feel largely indifferent after the initial 'meh, I'd quite like that'.

The thing is, I understand that some ppl feel more wronged than others, but aren't 20+ threads completely unnecessary and over the top? Expressing your discontent once is lodging a complaint, expressing it over and over and over and over again is whining - and that isn't me being a bully, it's simply me calling it as I see it. We don't need a new thread every five minutes, have a complaint thread, I may even put my two cents in it - but flooding the forums with 'I want a doggie', 'ZOS are the new EA' etc is simply childish and spoiled.

    I agree with the OP.

While I understood the discussions about the in my opinion not justified VR nerf and took part in them in a friendly matter, a lot in the past two weeks has been really horrible here.

People whine about the smallest things, like now a dog which is a cosmetic item and nothing interesting at all. Its not like we were denied access to the dye system or something. Only a vanity pet, a vanity pet that we all already have. Many of us do have a monkey, others a crab and again others a spider and soon some will have a pig.

Most of the whine topics are lead by a bunch of rude people who don't even want to talk, but flame and insult the company and other gamers.

In my opinion ZO needs to react quickly, as these people are more and more disrespectful towards ZO, the representatives at the forum and gamers who don't share their view.

A forum should be a fun place to be in, to discuss topics about the game, but right now at least 70% are flames and silly whine threads about pets, dyes, achievements or raids.

I agree with your current aversion to the whining. Regardless of how people feel about issues - large problems like the VR nerf or bugged quests, and small trinkets like the dog vanity pet - I'm fine with seeing threads about these issues. It's kinda what the forums are for. Posts like "What so unfair I want a doggie stupid ZOS!" or "Oh my god shut up all you babies!" are neither helpful nor constructive.

Furthermore, once an issue is resolved... for the love of Azura drop it already. You wanted a dog? You're gonna get a dog. No sense in bickering over tiny issues and name-calling.

Never said 20+ threads was fine and haven't promoted it I have said several times now that the main thread is plenty. And what are you doing by posting here if not whining? My point as you seem to still miss it is that if you aren't going to give something to the discussion other then name calling to begin with why comment in the thread, or why make threads like this? THAT IS WHINING BY YOUR OWN DEFINITION.....And I am pretty sure the so called "Whiners" have done a lot more actual discussion compared to those that are simply crying "whiner" because there forums are slightly filled. Tell ya what the forum puts the commented ones towards the top right? if seeing these threads that you are in no way obligated to go into, offends you in some manor....make a post that people actually want to comment and discuss on....otherwise why cant the two sides that disagree just leave each other alone...if it isn't important to you, great then move along...

To clarify one more time, I do not promote the forums being filled with complaints one thread is much more effective for our purpose and these are two very different groups of people doing this. That being said I was on these forums all night last night and much of this morning through to 5:00pm. I have not seen that many threads about this issue, most have commented on the one only. Those that don't do not get very many responses meaning they go down the list in addition to this on those that I have seen, the commentors are the ones simply calling the OP a whiner...like I said...just don't comment and the forums will take care of themselves.

Prayers to Molag Bal aside, you made a thread whining about people whining. It's not even the only one of its kind.

You are just as culpable of dragging the forums down as anyone else is.

I'm an atheist. Which imaginary deity are you invoking here?

    I'm an atheist, too. :)

I think he was talking to the Great Pumpkin.

    I still want that dog.
It's not like it's hard to do. Put it in the ESO store for 5-$10. ZoS makes profit. Player base happy.

I'd still like the opportunity to earn it in game.

I bought the game to play the whole game, not play the base game and shop for the fun stuff with real money.

If they made it available Ingame, it would most likely be extremely hard to get, or else everyone will have it. In the store, only people who actually want it will get it. Let's be honest here, you ( or me at least ) could make $10 faster than you would be able to get a pet like that Ingame.

I'd think most people would be happy with either. Choices.

does anyone else find it funny the someone is whinning about whinners and so many people then post how they agree that opinions and whinners should not have the same freedom they have about posting a topic? Hypocritical views are never self realized....LOL
