These forums have devolved into the worst kind of self-entitled indulgence imaginable in the last couple of days. Yes, I'm peeved we can't run ESO as a proper Steam game, and sure I'm a tiny bit miffed about the whole dog thing because frankly, a crab ranks on the cool meter about as high as a pet potato, but please for heavens sake get some perspective - it's a bloody dog!

Looking at general today, it's wave after wave after wave of moaning. At least keep it to one thread, currently there are many, you don't have to open a new one each and every time. And also, while the whole 'only able to list is as a non-steam game' is a bit of a cop-out in my opinion, let's look at some of the good that is coming our way:
  • Guild tabbards
  • Merchant kiosks
  • A dye system
  • Continuing improvements for stamina builds (though this could be a little quicker)
  • Revisions to VR which naysayers have been moaning and demanding since forever
  • And beyond that, updates we don't even know about yet

Also as for loyalty rewards, sure I'd love a few decent skins, but I was never promised any, so I'm not going to act like an ass and start demanding them. Keep a bit of perspective is all I ask, on the scale of things, this whole Steam debacle is pretty miniscule, even for someone like me who prefers all their games to be running through it.

We've got bigger fish to fry, so please stop spamming the forums with all these new threads, keep your bitching to one thread only and let the rest of us talk about something else. Remember: you're flipping out over a mangy, pixellated DOG!

Thanks :)

    I agree 100% OP.

It is pure "grass is greener" syndrome. Most of these threads the only reason the person wants it so bad is because they feel they were told they can't have it. Honestly I would be happy if ZOS removed all these stupid vanity pets from the game. All they do is give people a way to intentionally annoy other people at every bank.

Just go do Razak's Wheel and get the Dwemer Spider pet. It is cooler than all of them and you actually have to DO something to get it other than show up with money.

Honestly every time I hit refresh on the forum a new wolf hound thread pops up. Is there really that much left to say on the topic that it needs and entirely new thread all of its own?!

I'm with you on this... I think I was one of the ones most upset by the whole wolfhound thing, but it's run its course by now. The devs responded, the issue is closed. At this point it's just bashing and name-calling. Ay caramba.

I would totally run around with my toy spider if the quest didn't bug, refuse to give me the reward, and then Zeni tells me to just wait til the next patch and maybe something would get fixed XD

I put in a request and they mailed me the spider in under 24 hours. Maybe you took an offensive tact.

Supposedly there is something changing with that quest in Monday's patch, and I was told to wait until then. All I had said was, "I completed the quests for the Razak's Wheel public dungeon, and did not receive the toy spider quest award. Please let me know how I can obtain this."

This all happened yesterday (I did Razak's Wheel a week and a half ago, and didn't find out until yesterday that there was even supposed to be a toy spider). Being this close to a supposed fix, I can understand just telling me to be patient til Monday. I just hope it's fixed Monday :P

It is far from closed. You see there are a bunch of people that don't feel this type of behavior should be rewarded. It is the same as the ridiculous starter island BS that broke part of the game because the whiners were outraged they had to do a starter island first and as a result the game was made worse. If ZOS is going to continue to cater to these "loyal" (I am going to threaten to leave every time I don't like something) players it is going to ruin the game.

EDIT: I agree with you, this whining entitled behavior should NOT be rewarded.

Should all the steam people each start their own thread complaining how unfair it is they didn't get the early access loot?

"But but but... the steam version wasn't available for early access! It isn't fair, you're locking content behind a pay wall!"

Ridiculous! The things people whine about, I swear to god.

I do enjoy a good argument, I find it helps one form more persuasive arguments going forward. While many will disagree on how things should be handled, or what truly defines 'content' I do hope that people can do so with respect for one another. Respect is lacking in many places in this world, you may even find that you can bring others to your side of thinking if you treat them like a rational individual.

This. The whole issue seemed to start out as a rational argument. I could understand points made by both sides, I had the information to choose a side I thought was best... This morning I logged on to these forums to a flood of whining and calling each other babies. The issue with the dog itself is closed. There's still the issue of what's the best way to communicate with Zenimax, what content should be included in a subscription model, et cetera. I'm just tired of the immaturity I've seen on both sides of this whole debacle.

You think that by catering to this whine, it would set a harmful standard going forward?

I can see your point, but hope that an issue such as this doesn't effect you personally in the future, lest you be overlooked too.

We obviously share something in common, we both love the idea of the game, we just differ in how things should be handled I guess.

That is a beautiful sentiment brother.

Unfortunately the mentality of too many forum goers does not inspire me to focus my creative energies on any sort of intelligent or respectful response. This particular issue is hardly even a symptom of what I have come to realize must necessitate a "bite your tongue" approach to posting here.

If you have nothing positive or constructive to add, say nothing. That is why more often than not I say nothing. There is simply no intelligent way to reply to a good percentage of the posts here.

Sometimes, as they said in War Games, the only winning move is not to play.

"When did people become complacent. When did we stop fighting for simple things like respect. Those in this thread that have called each other names, that have bullied, or wanted to do nothing. What would it take for you to stand up for yourself? Does it have to reach a point where the subscription fee is doubled? or would you even be ok with that. Not just what would it take for you to quit the game but what would it take for you to love the game enough to actually fight to make it better and be treated fairly? Do not act like you deserve nothing. This issue may not be important to you, but how long will it be before another issues comes up that is?"
What do you want, a game that does not improve where you are treated with disrespect? Or do you want to show that something matters to you as a player so that maybe ZOS takes notice and does something about it? Better yet which player do you think ZOS appreciates more? The players that stand by simply using them to play their game and enjoy it without contributing to make it better through discussion while also criticizing anyone who does? Or the player that stands up for themselves and shows ZOS what they want and what is important to them so that they can make a better game, and in turn make more money off of not just current Subs but future new players in a way that is far more efficient then dangling a shiny toy in front of newcomers? Think before you type, if you are name calling or saying we are whining you are not being constructive nor helpful in any manor, you are being a bully. If you actually care about the game either contribute helpful information or do not comment.

That is exactly my point. This behavior needs to be stopped or it will get out of control. Honestly, it pretty much already is, I mean, all this over a vanity dog. (and to those saying the problem is bigger than that i.e. it is about Steam Integration, too bad. There are plenty of games that come to Steam later). As someone else said, that is a Steam problem, not a ZOS problem.

I find the whole thing thoroughly entertaining. All over a scruffy looking mutt.

What I find disturbing is the lack of consideration or even slightest appreciation by Zos towards its current loyal customers. They have done very little to help build or develop any type of actual community.

Seriously, how tough is it to give a vanity pet or other in game item to current customers to say thank you? I'm not even saying it has to be a free item or anything. It could be earned. Just something attached with a "Thank you for your support". Had they given away or done anything during these first few rocky months you would not see the complaints about the promotional vanity pets.

Like the post says which you didn't seem to even fully read. It's about making the game better and whether you think the dog is stupid or not doesn't matter, the dog is important to someone there's lots of things that are important to different people. The point in all of this is to show ZOS what is important to us to make the game better and people commenting say we are whining or feeling overly entitled are not benefiting anyone not even themselves, they are in fact doing the opposite. Say at some point there is something you want in the game how do you make the company notice that you or many people want it? Criticizing is just rude and pointless if we want to try and make the game better why do you have to comment? why not just stay out of it if you don't want to contribute? It is quite simple there are those that just wanted the dog, those that want to just make the game better in general and get ZOS to listen, and those that appear to only want to bully or brown nose ZOS is some manner. We get it you don't agree but lets take a look at the pages of chat the past day or so shall we? Who have been the ones name calling? I do not like the idea of calling someone immature but if anything is, it has been anyone who has resorted to name calling and putting others down just for trying to make the game better.
