Actually, there are still copies of that floating around. You could apply the key inside to an account you made through Steam.

There may be copies floating around, but ZO isn't making it officially available for purchase. So again, they gave you something they didn't give to Steam users. That should take care of the hurt feelings people appear to have over not being pet on the head and told, "You're a very special snowflake," while Matt Firor feeds them chicken soup.

It doesn't take care of the hurt feelings because we don't have anything that they don't have access to.

Imperial Edition, Explorer's Pack, even beta keys are still floating around. Anyone who looks hard enough could find it.

Here's some food for thought: Have you ever considered that maybe, just because something is no longer manufactured, that doesn't mean it's unavailable and exclusive?

That's an Explorer's Pack perk, so yes, if they got a copy, they would have it.

You seriously think that's what it's about? That someone else is getting something we are not? Wow. You managed to skim past pages of posts on multiple threads and still come up clueless as to what the actual gripe is. Congratulations. Let me break it down for you. We want to play on Steam. As it is now we cannot. We cannot even transfer our existing accounts to Steam. Does that clear it up for you? I really can't make it any more simple for you.

Well, eBay certainly changed the game there. But again, ZO isn't responsible for the availability of keys that people decided to buy and not use.

I think they're probably going to do the chicken soup thing, so I'd just e-mail Matt Firor directly about this until he agrees to come over.

    Why?

I mean, I'm honestly curious. As I stated on another thread, I've only seen people complain about Steam integration prior to this. Most people I know don't want a centralized system that can control their access to any game.

The entire Explorer's Pack is all-in one, and it was supposed to be exclusive to pre-order copies, but there were retailers like GameStop and Best Buy still selling games with the EP in them, so they ended up not being exclusive at all.

Since the "any race in any faction" bonus is part of the Explorer's Pack, anyone with a key can have that bonus as well.

What's humorous is that people are defending this at all. If everyone who didn't care about the pet or the Steam keys just stopped interacting in the posts regarding the pet and Steam keys, and went and did something they DID care about, there'd be significantly less drama on these boards right now.

The truth is, they do care. They care, but they won't admit it because that would leech a small bit of the joy out of their time in game, with that little thought in the back of their mind resonating, reminding them they are supporting a company that doesn't give two *** about them.

The bigger issue is they get full access and a nicer perk for a lot less money and didn't pay an extra $30 subscription fee....they basically get craglorn, numerous bug fixes, fuller world access and a highly wanted pet...All for about 70% less then what preorder have paid to date.

It's like buying something for $130 but while you are paying at register you see someone else getting the exact same thing for $40.

A game went on sale a few months after it came out?! Shock and consternation!

    In order:
    - Other retailers have offered discounts prior to this.
    - You've gotten 3+ months of time to play that Steam subscribers haven't had.
    - And most importantly, everyone gets a free month. You didn't pay an "extra" subscription fee.

If you're complaining about this, you should be complaining that players who waited to get WoW are getting all this extra content just for waiting a decade.

As other posters have stated with the Explorer's Pack and Imperial Edition both were codes that you could resell (and resell they did) on eBay. As for the monkey pet, that was tied to your account so you can't resell. The guar pet you can resell once it releases but this pet is tied to your account so no resell. I think that Eventide might point out what some people want: full Steam features. Adding a non-Steam game does not give you full feature access, such as achievements. However, I've seen more people complaining about the pet than I have about the Steam features. Some people collect pets and like to cycle them out. I like having pets but I don't care enough to flip out over it, but I will admit the dog pet is pretty cool. Maybe they'll release more pets at some point in the future (*cough* cash shop). Then we can have the cash shop fight :p

See, you don't even have to try. They can get everything we have for only a few bucks in addition to their purchase, and we'd have to make a whole new account, buy the game again, and start completely from scratch.

... Let me break it down for you. We want to play on Steam. As it is now we cannot. We cannot even transfer our existing accounts to Steam. Does that clear it up for you? I really can't make it any more simple for you.

I still don't get it. Why do you want to play it on Steam? I don't think it is integrated in any way (no achievements etc from what I've heard).

    No. I'm not happy.

I wanted to activate my copy on steam so I could purchase the imperial edition upgrade to get the fancy pooch.

This rubs me the wrong way and kicks my milk-bowl to no end

After all was said & done, I really wasn't that impressed with the Explorer's pack.it really didn't give me the advantage I thought it would.

It wasn't supposed to give you an advantage. None of the bonus content gives you an advantage. It gives you access to vanity perks. That's it.

I hear ya! I have a Steam account. That option would be a great way to recognize all the loyal ES fans that still have Steam accounts.
