One big positive about ESO on Steam - show player count?

No one has any idea about how many people actually play this game. Steam's software tracks the number of concurrent users who are in the game (who logged in through Steam first of course).

It won't show players who don't add their copy of eso to Steam but at least we'll be able to see all those new players online.

First of all I do not see why someone who will buy the game even from steam, going play the game via the Steam client after the first few days.
What is the point of added lag, and a layer added on the game. Heh, we even close the normal launcher on the current version.
Second, it will not represent the community. What if they are 10 or 100 people there?

Skyrim needed Steam to register it and play it, you couldn't circumvent it only by having a pirated copy. TESO doesn't.3 -
