Big difference between exclusive items and 3 for $10 in your local Walmart bargain bin, or 20 nuggets for $5 at MickeyD's.
"Herp, other MMO's did it, derp. If you don't like it... Derp."
So just because it's a video game, it negates the fact that it's a wideley business practice that is perfectly acceptable there? NOW who's herping and derping?

Negates what? They just told a bunch of their current customers to *** off in an attempt to gain new ones. How is that good business?

Because telling your customers to *** off is smart business, right?

How are they telling anybody any such thing? Do you get this upset when every company you do business with offers incentives to attract new customers that you didn't get? If so you must spend an awful lot of time kicking yourself for all your poorly timed purchase decisions since companies in all sorts of businesses do this sort of thing all the time.
ZOS offered a product, you decided said product was worth the price they were asking and bought it, learn to live with your decisions.

Smart businesses don't tell their current customers that new customers deserve better stuff.
Thanks for carrying on a pointless attack on people with opinions, I'm sure when we look back on the locking of this thread, all this ego will have surely been worth the effort spent making people angry over the internet.
mips_winnt wrote: »I never said i was entitled to it, but to only offer it to new accounts is more or less what is going to upset people,
They're offering it as a promotion to incentivize people that haven't previously bought the product to buy the product (You know those that didn't find the original product offering enticing enough to fork over the requested price for it), what sort of a moron would offer purchase incentives to customers that already bought the product? The only people that are going to get upset by something like this are those that have no clue relative to how modern businesses operate.
What you want is some sort of "loyalty reward" , which is nice if you get one but you have no right to expect it (nor are you entitled to one) since you got what you paid for when made your purchase decision.

This is the part that bothers me the most. The fact that so many current subbers have been asking for a dog pet... so Zeni creates the desired pet, but gives it to somebody else. I do not think it's a good marketing decision... I feel like the dog issue will push away more players than it'll bring in. I don't think the dog will be the deciding factor for those wanting the Steam version - unless they allow merged accounts.
Its like this. ZOS/Bethesda is about to go bankrupt. You only discount and do mass give away when your core customer/business model is broken. Not only have they not hit projected target sales but have angered enough of the players that paying sub numbers are in the toilet as well. ZOS is under contract to push a working console version by a certain target date. That is blown not only did they miss launch date but can not produce a stable mmo. Which means there is a lawsuit in the works. Soon as this becomes public it is over. Creditors are going to want payment on ZOS debts now. Then the choice is close up shut the server down without warning and layoff everyone or File for bankruptcy protection and hope the judge doesn't order the shut down. We warned you.

You REALLY think the majority of this player base is informed and gives a shizz about 'how modern businesses operate' as if that relates in ANY way to feeling slighted or envious of a pet which was asked for first BY ORIGINAL subscribers being created instead for new subbers and disallowing the original folks to get it?
Really? I can't recall a single post, let alone an actual thread asking for this.TeraAngelos wrote: »Mr.Turtlesworth wrote: »It's pretty much a slap in the face for those who bought and supported the game the whole time. I have no idea how informed or uniformed the majority of the player base is with respect to modern business operations, nor did make any assertions regarding the subject. I simply pointed out to the other poster that only those that don't understand modern business operations are going to get "upset" about this promotion not being offered to current customers since it's illogical to offer sales promotions to people that have already bought the product you're attempting to promote.

The eruption of entitlement around here over this issue is awesome, I didn't realise the Gen-Y/Millenial problem was so huge.
