Being Level 10 in Cyrodil

So I am pretty new to PVP and just wondering if doing PVP at entry level 10 is pointless. I can't take on more than two NPC's at a time unless I get lucky, and if I even run into another alliance player, I get my @$$ kicked. Should I not be trying PVP until I am a higher level? Any advice is appreciated!

Find a group to run with until you get more familiar with the PvP dynamics. It's usually easy to find others to group by just asking in the zone chat.

Every one of my 3 main characters went to Cyrodiil at level 10 and i have had a lot of fun times there from the beginning.

PS: Unless you're the kind of person that can only have fun if you're the invincible tank from Oblivion, in which case you need to grind your way to VR12 with a full set of legendary gear first. That will only take you a month or so, provided you don't need much sleep.

your gonna die alot as a level 10. i suggest you go level in pve until vr1. thats when you actually have a chance. otherwise you can wait for ZOS to implement the new campaigns which will have a campaign dedicated to non VR players but idk when this will be coming.

OK thank you! I was feeling like I was just completely sucking at this but I am just too new in Cyrodil. I will definitely try to find some groups to go around with. Appreciate the advice!

Doing Cyrodiil at a low level has its ups and downs. The up side is your learning Cyrodiil and as long as there are faction members near you, you CAN contribute to them staying alive. You being there can mean a difference on the battlefield. You probably wont be killing players on your own but Cyrodiil is much much more than just killing other players. PVP ranks offer free skill points to further develop your character.

Downside is you ARE easier to kill. Getting around sucks without a horse and you can out level content from PVE trivializing it.

It use to be different for lowbies in Cyrodiil. You where able to contribute a bit, at least with keeps and resources. Than they boosted the NPC's. Now you get 1 shot consistently and not by players, by NPC's on crack.

The difference between a geared VR12 with all skills and passives compared to a level 10 is also massive. You have literally no chance of inflicting any type of noticeable dmg solo.

I wouldn't bother going there much before VR1, unless you have bodyguards. The most useful thing you can do in Cyrodiil at level 10 would be staying inside keeps and handle siege weapons, oiling, repairing the walls and so on. Can also heal you group 2-3 times I guess (than you're out of magicka lol).

Really hope the new non-VR campaign will have scaled down NPC's or it's not going to work.

Can have a lot of fun at low levels in Cyrodil. Word of advise is use as many sieges as possible as they do the same damage regardless of your level. You wont be viable as part of a small gank squad but you can be useful defending keeps by placing a well aimed oil pot, meatbag, or fire ballista.

They will be adding a Non-Vet Campaign pretty soon you can also do. It will help.

At least until all the Twinks form and normal players will have the same issues of being nearly one shoted.

Which class are you playing? Depending on your build, there may be some really useful abilities you might need before you are able to compete against higher level vet rank players. However, I recommend spending at least some time in PVP from low levels.

IMO, participating in PVP fights is the best way to improve your skills and test which abilities work better than others, so you don't reach VR12 and then suddenly realize you need to completely change your build.

My bf just started an NB toon on NA wabba at level 10 and killed a few V12s plus the DC emp. level 10s arent worthless..do your homework about your class

Yeah I am using an Altmeri Templar leaning more towards healing and using a couple skills from the other two lines for damage. I have never been a healer before and finding I love it. In PVE, I kick butt damage wise when I am questing, but yeah, it's totally different when you are up against other players.

i don't think anybody will deny that on average a level 10 will die more often than a VR12

I have played both of my main toons (a VR10 and a VR5) pretty much exclusively in Cyrodiil since each of them hit level 10

I consider myself an average PvP'er at best and still have a ton of fun

and that, for me at least, is the determining factor - where i would have the most fun - i can handle the more frequent deaths because i prefer the PvP side of this game infinitely more than the PvE

there is the side benefit that not being great at PvP, i have had to learn some important survival skills that i think will be beneficial when i get all the way to VR12

well... depends. if you want to be able to take on the NPCs and other players WITHOUT a group, I advise you wait till AT LEAST VR1, if not higher. if you plan to always be in a group, and plan to use siege weapons a lot, then go ahead and play it. but don't expect to be able to take on many players by yourself. most people in PvP these days are at least Vr1(often higher, you will actually see a lot of VR12s:/). just try to stay in a group, and if you DO end up fighting a real high level while you are below VR1, in a solo fight... then just go down fighting:)

I didn't say he soloed them but he did get a whisper from one of them saying "wtf"?

I would suggest looking at some Youtube vids of ppl really owning who play your class..take a close look at their skills they use and in what order. Btw archers especially don't need to be "in the fight" "on the front line" to get in some nasty stealth shots and do major damage.;)

yea it doesn't really count if you have three or four vr12s backing you up.

Thats my point..you can always run around cyrodiil in hide and take gank potshots at folks and do damage..all damage counts..the game doesn't say "doh..you're level ten..we don't accept damage from you"

Exactly. I had a few moments like that myself.
I put the silver bolt in the coffin of quite a few VR12 vamps that were too cocky before i even hit level 15.

And yes, you can gank VRs on the battlefield if they aren't paying attention.
Been there, done that, have the AP to prove it.

Nobody here is trying to convince anyone that a scaled lvl 10 is on par with a VR12 (or anything VR for that matter) but last time i checked, keep fights in Cyrodill are rarely true 1v1 matches anyways. So none of that chest beating matters much.

Low level players can, have and will be able to get kills.

either run in BIG zergs and or only use siege weapons from a save spot - or just be smart and grind up to v12 - get decent gear and then join cyrodiil.

The best place for a lower level player in Cyrodiil is on the end of siege pulling the trigger.
