Fishing rares

Reskal
Reskal
hey there, actually i fished 11 rares in stonefalls, the last one, Tench is a real tough one. Its from lakes and i fish in the very northwest of the map, there are 2 good lakes, they always have fishing spots open but actually i cought rainbow zander and the other sort around 6 times each but the one i need, the Tench not one time.
So i wonder, is fishing rares programmed that i have to change locations, or can i get all 3 sorts of rare fish at the same hole ?

You are going to have ask the other person in ESO that fishes.

you get used bait when you use the wrong bait, there are several water types and each water type requires certain bait to be used, you will never get used bait if you use the right bait for the water type.

    Foul water: crawlers and roe
Rivers and streams: insects and shad
    Lakes: Guts and minnow
    Ocean: worms and chub

So if you think you are fishing at a lake and you get used bait, it's likely you are really fishing at a river so you should switch to insects. Generally you will notice the types of fish you catch for each water type. Such as longfin will be caught from the ocean and roe from a river.

Thanks for this info. It helps.

Now where did I put my pole?

Oh yeah... up my butt along with every thing else I carry.

    There it is...
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

I think none really knows the answer.
To me it seems every hole can give you the rares and it's just a question of luck and perseverance.

You can find the 5. achievement-fish in stonefalls in lakes. It's a green one.
You don't have to change fishing grounds, you just have to use the right baits (as @Auralia told) and you have to have luck (and sometimes patience :) ), thats all.
If you have other questions to fishing, baits, bugged achievement, fishing grounds, you can send me a pm or an ingame mail (Zalea Talaris). I havent done all the fishing achievements, but I finished 15 and I wrote down and screened every single fish.
Hope, that helps, good luck, Zalea

There's 2 greens and 1 blue for each type of water, so 12 rare fish total per zone. So, no, you can't fish up all the rare fish from one body of water. However you can fish up the 2 different greens and 1 blue for one type of water from the same fishing hole as I have done this before.

It helps to keep a pad of paper handy to write down the name of the rare fish you catch and the location. This way, you won't keep trying to fish from the same type of water. And the fishing achievements will tell you what fish you did catch per zone, but not what type of water it came from.

    Hope that answers your question.

I did a lot of fishing in both WoW and Rift, because there were incentives to do so. I'm not aware of any incentive to fish in ESO. Is there any?

Also, fishing with other people in the same spot raises the chance of getting a rare, if you didn't know.

If it is like any other node in the game, then logging off and logging back on should reset the nodes.

Or, you can wait for the respawn on the fishing hole. I don't know how long that takes, but I have fished out a few holes in this game. I think I remember seeing the fish movement in the water going away when the holes were fished out, but memory is stored in the fuzzy part of the brain.

I can now confirm it's possible to catch Tench too. Not sure if relevant or not, but I caught it during the night at north west lake (the one near exit from the region).

Well, after i was 3 days after the trench and after i got 10+ of the other 2 rare-fish-sorts that are available in the lake-holes in stonefalls, i finally got it.
I grouped with someone of my guild. After 2 minutes he got the trench, which is not that much compared to 3 days.
But well 2 hours later i got mine also.

By the way, is it normal that people hijack topics instead of opening own threads, as user "blackwidow" here did ? Many found it funny but i'm not sure what the rules are in this ?
Usually hijacking of topics is not allowed in the internet, but in case this is a forum for users 5-12, tell me.
