When did they nerf Doshia into such a push over?

i swear she was no where nearly as annoying a fight as she was back when i was leveling my first 4 vet dudes in launch month.....

i basically put her into Harvester mode with one attack, easily stunned her in harvester mode and killed her in less than a few seconds...

this character was now even over leveled.... i remmeber people having issues with her tho... so did they nerf this solo boss?
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

    Quite a surprise, eh?

I recently ran an alt through there, and I went in loaded for bear (good food, tri-restore pots, up-to-date crafted gear). She basically died of natural causes after I shot an arrow at her. I understand that having a difficult fight this early on may have prompted complaints, perhaps many.

    But it was disappointing.

They nerfed a lot of the bosses to be pushovers. Then they went and nerfed veteran zones. It's care bear central up in here.

Balreth was a joke too. As was sinmur and a few other bosses that required more than herp derping your way through it.

No, they nerfed the mobs. They even said they nerfed them. They nerfed them due to a few people whining about them. They didn't even nerf them correctly, instead of toning down the damage a bit and maybe tweaking the health they decided to make it so you can sneeze and she dies. They did this to a lot of bosses, they never know how to take a scalpel to things and always go for the hammer smash approach.

    Not working as intended ...

That goes back to beta testing. When you only come to realize that something needs tweaking due to mass number crunching with release, that tells me you had insufficient testing to get a better compilation of the numbers.

In other words too many testers stuck doing testing in the starter zones one weekend every two - three months on brand new characters.

If your thought is truly accurate, it just goes to show that the devs vastly underestimated the need for for testing certain areas.

But now that I have had a chance to rant ...

The Doshia fight was a pain in the #$% for melee. Each orb generally took more than one hit to destroy (unless you used a two hander) and she was immune to most CC that was available to people at these starter levels. This was a drawn out crap fight for people who simply didn't have range or the time to destroy all three globes before they reached her. Her other main damage attacks were also all close range.

Range attack players on the other hand ... this fight probably put you to sleep.

Also, at least on the Ebonheart pact, she is in a small, narrow cave, which means you pretty much HAVE to get up close to her, no matter what build you use...

I agree, the 1st time I fought her I struggled with my DK to find the right skill combo, it must have taking me more then 20 tries to get it right, but I just made a new templar and she was barely able to transform before the fight was over. I didn't even need my ultimate.

I agree that some boss' did need a few tweaks, but that was a little too much tweaking. I wonder if BC will be the same way. Two of us wrecked a dark anchor the other day and I was 4 levels below. I can only imagine what VR levels will be like.

Another thing I noticed was they increased the distance between mobs so you don't constantly run into them every two steps.

Same thing for Gutsripper. In Beta, with my Two-Handed DK he killed me 3-4 times. Afterwards, same build, I didn't drop below 50% health. Same for Doshia, except for her I didn't go below 75% health.

Same here. I remembered the fight from the pre launch PTS, so i went in with everything i had at once, including my ultimate and she was dead within seconds and never even had a chance to hurt me.

That was quite a letdown ...

Just did her again on EP. (As said above, small cave)

She is not bad if you can pull her out of the spawn a bit (gives you more time to hit heal spheres). If you leave her at spawn. 2 hit her almost instantly, making her very hard to kill.

If you don't know the mechanics and are pretty new to game that makes her almost unkillable. I had a friend die there 6 times last week until I explained about killing the spheres and getting her more in the open. She was killing 2 spheres and didn't even realize there were 2 more because they were hitting D instantly, from behind, due to the shape of the room.

The Alchemist is another *** fight, not because he is really hard, but his room is super cluttered, making non-ranged fighting hard because of all his ground attacks and furniture getting in your way.

Easy for vets to re-do, not so much for new players that are used to facerolling normal baddies.

People complained in mass about harvesters in later levels. It's been my belief the complaining happened because the tutorial to fight them (Doisha) was nerfed excessively.

They couldn't formulate a strategy without assistance from other players. Because of being able to run up to Doisha and auto attack her to death.

During beta and up to the first month, Doshia was a beast.

I went a week ago with my new level 6 alt, and she died on 2 hits before take the harvester form.

Also they dumbed down a lot of puzzles.

The one in Auridon where you have to purify the various shrines, only was point and click, all of them. Even the brazier one, all of them lighten up no matter the sequence.

Or the one where you need to stand in water to aim the other side and wait for the tooltip to use the staff. Now is "stand in water, fill bucket, go drop bucket on the stone".

Instead of making complex puzzles like the other ES games, they make it patch by patch looking like WoW.

And Cyrodiil with all that powercreep is just "who hits first". Making me considering to go back to War of the Roses to have proper pvp swordfights.

because some weapon builds and classes had issues with some bosses. Instead of fixing them they did blanket nerfs and hack jobs.

The "non-elite" crowd cheered behind them as they butchered the game instead of fixing class and weapon issues. Now those same people are getting to end game and wondering why people won't take them to trials in there plate two handed leather destruction builds.

I definately recall rethinking my approach and wanting to be able to group to kill Doshia during BETA. I even left, leveled and cam back later but the nerf and changes were different in each phase of the BETA weekends just before launch but AFTER the game release early patches caused things to work as intended, I believe this made Doshia seem easier as they orbs didn't fully heal and healing yourself or using Templar skills actually did noticeable damage whereas earlier fights seemed to take 5 - 8 minutes of non-stop strategy.

They whole game seems a lot easier now. I'm sure I may have missed another patch note that describes what other comments suggest as NPC mob nerf's.

Must admit. I played with my main character from 30/3 onwards. Just finished yesterday and became VR12. (Templar)

Few days ago, decided to try roll a Templar on another alliance, to do their quests also. (rushed them with my main at VR6-10 because they were pre-patch 1.2.4)

Level 4 Templar, barely any skills, and mops the floor with the same sword and shield setup as my main character 3 months ago. Back then I would need some heals. Now I just hit anything twice and is dead. Vampire Bane one shots almost everything at those levels!!!!

Are you doing anything else differently (crafted set gear, glyphs on armor, build stacking etc.) that you didn't do before?

I Just rolled a NB, and even though I have never played one before, what I know from playing a VR12 temp and a VR3 Sorc make a huge difference.

(example, at level 12 I have all 3 class line running, lots of active skills, (and skyshards), i put points into magicka becasue I know it ups my NB class skills, my gear traits and weapon choices are more focused on my intended build (hell I HAVE an intended build).

I didn't do a lot of that with my temp until I hit 40.

I'm not saying that they didn't whammy the general baddies, but you can't go back to being new.

Doshia is like lvl 8 quest. It was way too hard or even wrong choice of enemy at that low level. Yes people need to learn how to fight harvesters but really, at such early stage when you are still maybe learning the basics of the game. And next harvester encounter is somewhere many levels after.

I have only faced Doshia on the Dominion side so I wasn't aware of the issues with the other alliances with room design. When I fought her the first time in BETA I thought she was a beast and dang near unkillable on my DK. I had to wait until I was like level 8 or 9 to finally take her down and then it was still a close fight.

I thought the problem was with either the number of healing orbs or the amount of health each contained before being destroyed. As a melee I felt I could take this fight if I could take out an orb with one power swing versus having to take them out with a power attacked that left me drained stamina or magic wise when it came time to fight her again.

And if I happened to be low on magic or stamina when the orbs appeared ... she was good as healed because I wasn't taking them all out by simply swinging my weapon.

But from the sound of things, the Devs went with over kill. Instead of examining what was going wrong they took a hammer and nerfed the heck out of it so that a two year old could get past it.

I am glad I don't have alts. I might feel cheated facing her now.

Doshia seems to have been nerfed more than once, she was made into a non-issue in 1.2.3 or thereabouts. I fought her twice as she existed on release and 6 times since, the last two runs she never made it to Harvester form at all with my level 9 characters, something that at launch was impossible.

Several of the Main Story and Guild fights have been nerfed in recent times too it seems to me, Castle of the Worm is definitely a shadow of its former self and the infamous Lyris is far less of a problem than she used to be.

They had to Nerf Doshia, there was three versions of her (one for each faction), and one was impossible if you were within seven levels, which meant people were beating her and getting no EXP. Which was wrong.

That said she was beatable after the first nerf, they then nerfed her at least one more time. I can honestly say they only needed the first nerf, she was fine after this.

Doshia I think was mostly a problem for most people initially because it is essentially the first harvester you ever meet.

My first time I must have spent 5 minutes fighting her before realizing there were even orbs healing her. After that, it was pretty easy.

They have nerfed her a few times though now. If you open with a stunning attack, you can often kill her before she even transforms.

Not on one of the versions, in that version you can't see the orbs before they get to her.

Seriously the room is about eight foot by six, the orbs form in the walls, and unless she is in the dead centre, which she never was, you can't intercept the orbs, not enough of them.

But as I said only the first nerf was needed.
