Need Help! Going to build a pc.

Pahlehvahn
I'm going to build a PC soon because I'm getting about 14 fps right now, and i need help. What graphics card, processor, etc. should I get to run this game over 40 fps on ultra in Pvp??

Nvidia 750Ti is my card, and it is able to handle ultra satisfactorily(pvp and all). Its not a top card(also means not too expensive), but its new generation technology that has very low power draw and thus is very quiet.

Processor is intel i7, but a think an i5 should be enough.

Think this is pretty tough question as it seems that it might be just pure luck on combination of components that actually will result good fps in Cyrodiil.

You could get like SLI 780 ti and insane processor etc but still suffer fps issues.

Fwiw, my build is i5 2500K, EVGA GTX 680 signature edition, 16gig RAM, Windows 8.1 pro, all runs fine for me on max game spec.

You will get different advice from every single PC owner really, each build is different, but this works for me.

If I remember correctly I have an intel i5 4670k and a Asus gtx 770, with 8 gig ram Corsair ddr 3 vengeance pro certified xmp. Never suffered a fps issue. CM is Asus z87A. Power is antec 650 w gold. Sound card my old fabulous SB xifi elite pro. All settings to max.
    I play on 1080p on a 27" screen Asus 144hz.

As a general rule of thumb, the graphic card should be 2x the price of the cpu. Make sure you have enought ram memmory, ~8gb I'd recommend.

MMOs have a history of being more CPU instensive than GPU, if playing ESO at a good level is the key point then their costs should be relatively the same... Since you dont really need much of a GPU (150-200 is plenty for playing at ULTRA with good FPS) but a highly powerful CPU with good single core performance is ideal for this game...

I personally play on a GTX 650 2gb, and i play on ultra with only a few settings lowered.

the GTX750ti someone mentioned before would be the perfect starting point for graphics... 150$ for a 2gb version will let you play on a normal monitor with extremely high settings.

You will probably want to spend as much if not more on the CPU.

You need an i5 or an i7 to boot. 8GB RAM. An SSD (Samsung EVOs are cheap)

After that depending how high graphic settings you want and your budget.

    Everything maxed out at 1920x1080 - 2560x1440?
GTX780/Ti, AMD R9 290/X (preferably the overclocked version)

The game has got proper support for SLI with Craglorn and the addition of a "True Fullscreen" mode. Not sure how well that works in practice as I don't have a SLI setup.

It is currently limited to 4 GiB of RAM usage (32-bit). So just leave enough for your OS besides that. 8 Seems okay for me.

The big drain on loading time is the Disk. If you can get a SSD for the game folder this would be good for loading screen times.
But due to the price/memory for SSD's a RAID 0 of HDD's might be the cheaper option.

It is using a high ammount of Multithreading. I counted up to 21 Threads some time ago. Usually a current day MMO uses at least 3 threads: GUI. Network. File Loader.
I feel like my 2 Core i5 almost has a few cores to few, but it is playable.

    CPU I5-I7 with k

ESO is about the CPU, not so much the GPU.

Problem however is, ESO is horrible optimized and does all the rendering on a single thread. This leads to massive FPS issues if your CPU doesn't have a high end single core performance.

Therefore staying away from an AMD CPU is important. The new I7 have a higher single core performance of about 10%, this helps with the FPS so does Win 8.1 as I have heard from others.

It would be wise to buy a K series CPU, so that you can OC.

    8GB Ram no-name

As for RAM, 8 GB is more than enough - go for some no name RAM they don't cost much and still have a top performance. Don't fall for the trap of buying expensive RAM, its not worth it. If you go for 8, be aware that ESO can only utilize about 3.5 right now - but if you run stuff besides ESO and most gamers do this, then you will need those 8 GB.

    Win 8.1 OS

Make sure to get an 64 bit system, I would recommend win 8.1 as it helps with the ESO performance as Win 8 is able to use multi core CPUs better.

    GPU 270x-280x

While ESO isn't a big thread for GPUs, it would still be wise to go for a "new" AMD card. You will have access to Mantle and if you play other games like BF4, Thief or the big MMO Space Citizen then you will have a round about 40-50% performance plus over Nvidia.
The AMD cards are also cheaper and in my opinion more stable at gaming (need less patches to work good).

As higher your resolution will be, as better the card must be. Full HD doesn't need more than a 270x, if you go higher go for the 280x or 290.

    HDD WD blue

An SSD wont help much at ESO except for the loading times. That said, on my Caviar blue I seldom wait more than 5 seconds so even this is a bit of min - maxing, rather than an actual need.
In my opinion an SSD only makes sense if you work on your PC and cut videos or make music. My games all run from my WD, no problems at all.

    MB Asrock

I like Asrock motherboards, they usually bring a high value to the table and are very user friendly especially if you OC.

    PSU 500W 12V

Go for a branded PSU like be quiet or corsair with a 80+ certificate. Make sure to go for one of these brands as they offer a high performance on the 12v lanes and those you need, don't buy a china cracker with 600W or more please. They are crap ;)

Now you should be sorted, if you build the PC yourself its an investment of about 600-700 Euro and it will run every game on Ultra for quite some time. That said, don't expect miracles at ESO, there is no player who can play on a steady FPS everywhere no matter the setup.

Smaller drops are due the bad client, not the PC systems itself.
